Well, they DID tone it down. In this version, the demon just forces you to remain on Earth. In old mythology, the demon EATS you if you aren't good enough.

I THINK it's like that... Still, demon's an important part of the myths, so it needs to remain.

That's what my parents thought when I was a kid actually - they banned me from watching this ! They were Christian fundamentalists who didn't like that the supernatural aspects of this episode - Osiris and demons et al

After all this time, it still seems rather surreal that I was not allowed to watch a SESAME STREET TV movie :)

Believe it or not, it was actually the clocks that attracted me to this movie. I still have trouble seeing the grim expression that you see on the clock faces though.

At 4:06, my older sister just laughed as if Big Bird was crazy. She imagined what would happen if Sahu did come to live on Sesame Street. It would have been like: Sunny Day, sweeping the clouds away, then before they sing the next part, Sahu would shout: I'm a prince!
