your going to set the distortion... but than you can changed the sound of your distortion by messing with the treble, mid, and bass knobs on your amp to get more of a dry sound, or what have you, you can also change the tuning of your stings so instead of standard you can have drop d or whatever you want... it's really all up to you and what you think sounds the best.. just mess around with it, see what all you like, hope this helped

Well if you like that guitar I recommend getting a squire tele special/custom they are badass guitars. I play metal on it but you can play anything and they are already routed for humbuckers so you can put active or any passives you want in it. Later man take it easy.

For those of you discover drop d for the first time or those who are obsessed with it, why don't you try drop c (all you do is tune your guitar down another step from drop d, which makes your guitar tuned c g c f a d.) Drop c is better if you say a killswitch engage sound, or a hardcore sound, or just a ballsy sounding guitar.
