  • Forget the hair and tats hands down your gorgeous!! :)

  • bad ass sleeve! i wish i could get a sleeve!

  • Hey shawnta on ya twist you should start getting ya hair backcombed. That should work better.

  • Oooh my God, I LOVE your sleeve! It looks amazing, especially with the koi fish!

  • how much did the tats cost?

  • lol @ soilders takin orders. "wat we doin now boss?" lol

  • u grew back ur hair :0

  • i live in gbelt md...what is the name, #, address of your tattoo artist...i want to get a sleeve?...thanks sis...peace.

  • I'm having the same problem in the front with thin locs. I have a few that are superthin and thinking about either combining them or starting over. It's only been two years for me but I'm thinking I'll wait it out. The locs were started with two strand twists and now they are very tight with no softness at all. Nice ink Sis!

  • Wow I didn't even know you started your locs over! :-O They look beautiful I love the curls at the end.

  • U hit it dead on I had real long hair and tried to dread up took so long for progress and my top is almost bone straight so I had to cut my hair and start my dreads but u your dreads look nice tho in about 2 1/2 years u should be fully locked tho ma: )

  • ok that tatt is great

  • loooooove your tattoos they r verrry pretty!!!!

  • That has to be one of the best sleeve tattoos I've seen and you have to have a very high tolerance for pain because it hurts like hell...lol. I had the inside of my wrist done about 4 months ago (the ohm symbol and lotus flowers on either side) and I could barely stand it and I'm not a wuss...lol.

  • LOL thanks!!! I got a rib piece on deck next after the arm is done. A lil nervous about that one....lol

  • @Shawnta715 You should be...lol. Take the camera with you to the shop so we can see you grimacing because you definitely will be...lol. I love well thought out, spirtual and tats that are done well. That tat on your arm is absolutely stunning.

  • @Shawnta715 Oh...any piercings on deck?

  • No not a piercing girl. I do consider stretching one of my regular ear piercings just so I can wear this pair of fulani hoops I brought that have a very thick rod.

  • @Shawnta715 Girl that is so weird because I actually thought you would get some when I first saw your tattoo. I think it would look awesome.

  • I am stretching my earlobes too! Proud of you, I have decided on tattoos and piercings later on in my life, I think it's a more mature approach for something that's gonna be with you forever.

  • @Shawnta715

Hi, Did you get your fulani hoops online?

  • No at a natural hair expo in Baltimore last year.

  • @Shawnta715 i think you should just do wash and go's your hair is beautiful!

  • hey Shawnta, how long did it take u to wash n re-twist?i feel like i take way longer than everyone else...it takes me like 2 days in between taking care of my 2 lil rugrats n working...see i can never get more than 2 hrs to myself..never!!!

  • I would say this retwist took me about two hours because I was doing a lot of combining and reparting. I totally understand the being too busy for a free moment to yourself. How many locs you have can also be why it takes you longer than others As long as your getting the job done and like your results than your not taking too long.

  • Lovin' the tattoo!!! The detail is amazing... Did it hurt alot??

  • i also think that u have pretty texture hair.. dreaded up ma..

  • wow ur tattoo is beauitful!!! LOL i love it...

  • Sisterlocks are too tiny for my taste, but the woman that I know that have them are very satisfied.

  • Love the video! Will you be doing a video on retwisting the roots?

  • Yes I can def do one!

  • Shawnta, the quality of this video is really good. What webcam are you using?

  • It's a digital camera SamsungSL202.

  • I have always wanted to get a sleeve but I am not sure how much it would cost? do you mine telling me an estimate of yours?

  • Your best way to estimate would be to find out what the hourly rate is for the person that is/will be tattooing you. I have put in 15 hours into this arm so far, each session about three hours.

  • what is a sharpie size?

  • I was trying to give a diameter reference for the size that I want my locs to be and i thought everyone could identify with how large a sharpie permanent marker is.

  • @Shawnta715 oh i see! sorry! i kinda thought that's what you meant but just being sure.

  • No problem, it doesn't hurt to clarify.

  • Love your hair..it looks pretty! I'm about to get a tattoo from my back to my side..4 hours total. But I admire your sleeve!

    Xoxo

  • what product did you use to retwist your hair? i can tell your hair is soft. and im lovin the sleeve tattoo 4real.

  • Thanks hun! Fruit of the Earth Aloe Vera Gel (the clear one)

  • looove the retwist!!! soo pretty!!

  • do u think these locs will end up be as thick as ur last locs?

  • oops nvm.. i jus got to that part of ur video. i guess next time i'll watch the whole thing before commenting lol

  • lol ;)

  • It depends on the hair type I think. I started my locks with longer hair and it worked out good for me.

  • I'm sure hair texture is a part of it,and I don't doubt that locs can be started with long hair, but the majority of freeformers I see started with short hair or they started after twisting for some months. It took a while for my ear length twist to resemble locs so I can only imagine with shoulder length hair.

  • Long locs are not easier...my locs are down to my butt and I have no idea how to style them...i just maintain them. As for the tattoo it is nice..but that shit look like hurt like hell. i got 4 tattoos but i couldn't do one that size

  • I think a lot of people romanticize about the length but don't see how much work or nuisance very long hair can be.

  • i am feeling you on the longer hair...it just takes so much longer!

  • That Tattoo is awesome.

  • im glad to see you back shawnta, you have been a huge inspiration & motivation when i began my loc journey. thank you for your vids

  • i started my locs with medium-length hair, i never thought that starting off locs with long hair would take longer...but i guess it makes sense!

  • they look good and have a nice length too.. keep meh updated ma

  • I love your hair and tattoo!!!!. Checkout my videos on my tattoo journey and hair journey when you get the chance :)

  • Maybe one day, I will try locs again from a shorter length. Doing them long seems to take FOREVER to get mine to catch.

  • lovin da progress Shawnta..

  • you have one long loc :D

  • Yeah that is the loc that was three separate locs before. When I combined them and twisted them together they stretched out. When I rinse my hair again I'm sure it will not be that long :)

  • I appreciate what you said about longer hair. I was going to wait until my hair was longer before I started to loc it, but I think I may just go ahead and start, especially if it is going to be easier. This is my first loc journey and I can't wait. I love your videos. I can't wait to get a camera and start making my own.

  • love your locs great vid
