Great video! great camera and what a beautiful beach!, Pt Willunga truly is one of the most amazing beaches in Australia. Thank you very much, so inspiring....
This for me is perhaps the most amazing video on youtube. Provinding inspiration to pursue the little things in life, such as a simple smile on the beach.
I've never shot video with a DSLR so I'm curious, to change the area of focus is it like a normal still picture? Do you adjust the manual focus with the lens and it goes?
Hey, this just sold it for me. I'm getting the 50mm 1.8. I'm not sure how to get the original 50mm, not the MKII... What lens did you shoot this with? the MKII version or just the MKI?
This is probably the best 7D videos i've seen on youtube. I've been searching for a while now, and I think the quality of this video made my final decision to buy this camera :]
Dude this is a GREAT vid!!! Nice job man. I just got the 7D as well, and have had A LOT of fun with my friends putting travels vids together. But they certainly don't compare to this. I can't wait to see more. Thanks for sharing.
Yeah man, I've definitely been blessed. I still can't believe I actually get to do this for a living. My ultimate trip is coming up in only 3 weeks though. I'm heading to Australia, and backpacking all over for about 5 weeks. I'm pretty stoked. It's a dream trip come true.
Again though man, AWESOME vids! I've watched several of them, and they have really inspired me to try some new things on my future travel blogs. Thanks again for sharing.
@wbboy29 Wicked man! If you come to South Australia, let me know and I'll catch ya somewhere. Glad you enjoy my vids and that they've put some inspiration in you!
hi just watched this video and really like it andim buying a 7d next month iv been saving for 2 months now i have a canon hv30 at moment but was going to buy a canon xha1 but im heading in the direction of a 7d is there any advice u cud share ...any would be appreciated thanks
Hmm depends what sort of advice you want... a few things to realise is that when shooting video it's all manual, you cannot use auto-focus and it's best to use manual iris and shutter. Also if you need to record decent sound, you will need an external sound recorder. It's a wicked camera, I love it.
Hey, I don't know much about cameras and clearly you Willunga boys do. I have a miniDV camera, and when I use Premiere Pro to edit and import, it imports interlaced. This makes it smooth, but you get the annoying lines on the computer screen. I can get rid of the lines and deinterlace in Premiere, but it reduces the quality, as you'd expect. Do you know how to record/import all deinterlaced/pregressive?
Thank you. I shot at 60 frames then edited in 24 frames. This gives you true slow motion. There is no need to de-interlace as the camera records progressive frames.
Absolutely love the video. What are your thoughts on the "thrifty fifty" lens? I'm about to trade in my Pentax K10D (and lenses, flash, filters, etc) and Canon HV20 to get a 7D. I was thinking about saving and buying the f1.4 older brother to this lens but am not sure yet.
Thanks for checking it out. I love the 1.8 but couldn't tell you about the 1.4 because I've never used it. It would be nicer but depends if you have the money. The 1.8 is such good value for what it can do.
Gotcha. My main reasons for getting it are that it holds its value well, has better optics, and (mainly) has a full time manual override adjustment ring so I can do nice manual slide focus and then let the camera do a perfect auto-focus lock once I get near the subject.
Thanks Chris! It was fun trying the camera for the first time and can't wait to do more with it. Your fight choreography test video is very cool. The moon shot is sick!
Now that really about convinces me. Especially for video-art in the widest sense it seems to be an excellent choice. For documentation and reporting there are better options, but for artistic shots, marketing/advertisment projects... the quality amazes me, and all this with a cheap 50mm 1.8 standard lens. Wow. Thanks for sharing!
It really is pretty amazing what this camera is capable of. This was shot straight out the box and quickly edited with minimal colour correction. Can't wait to see what I can do with it. Thanks for watching.
Amazing video! Enjoyed it all the way.
