Have you seen Idina? Saycon couldnt touch Idina of a scale of acting. Idina may not have been the most sustained singer, but even Saycon never matched Idina's singing.
Ugh. I'm sorry. I am totally not an Idina fan. I have not seen her, and I have no intentions to. I have heard her in numerous videos, and on the soundtrack, and her voice is too flowery for my taste.
I think that there are tons more Elphabas who OWN Idina Menzel (i.e: Eden Espinosa, Marcie Dodd, Donna Vivino)

By the end of May, 3 new principals join the show: Derrick Williams who played Fiyero w/the nat co & played LA in 2005, returns May 13. David de Vries will play Dr. Dillamond starting May 28. He comes from Chicago Co. Finally, Briana Yacavone plays Nessarose beginning May 20. Briana joins WICKED from the Broadway company."
What is so cool about this for ME is that I've already seen 2 different Elphabas and 2 different Glindas in L.A. and on May 30th I'm seeing it yet again with an entirely different cast. 4th row center, baby! can't wait! AND I'm bring a friend who is entirely unfamiliar w/the show or any of the music. So, should be interesting and fun!

Of course you can judge someone based on a bootleg. The only difference in the theatre is that they're louder. If you can't judge someone based on a bootleg what's the point in recording them?
lets see, I recorded a kid at my school singing. I was there, she sounded AMAZING but then when I watched the video, even tho the quality was good, she didnt sound all that hot. I tried it several times with several different types of cameras/recorders, and tho some provided better representations of the singers voice, they still didnt give the full effect, since then, I have not trusted one single bootleg and I have been amazed by all the actresses who have played Elphaba. Dont judge from vids.
Bootlegs can't capture stage presence, rarely do justice to facial expressions, and often distort sound because of the small microphones needed to record them.
But...I think you can judge someone's interpretation if you see/hear multiple good quality recordings.
I'm beginning to hate youtube cuz everyone is judging performers off of BOOTLEGS!!! God, people, these people are obviously doing somin right THEY ARE PLAYING THE LEADING ROLE IN BROADWAYS BIGGEST SHOW!!!
The producers obviously felt Caissie was a better choice to take over the role. I agree with citizensofoz. And not every fan wanted Julie to take over the role. Besides, who the hell are we to decide who takes over? And I know you're just a freshman in high school so learn a little and gain the stature these producers have and then we'll talk.
Julie Reiber was very good, but I don't think she has the power and the emotion to do it 8 times a week. I think Caissie is the perfect replacement for our wonderful Eden Espinosa. Caissie sounds almost like Eden in the beginning of her run, so let's give time for her. She is beginning her run as the lead, and of course she is nervous and not confident at all, but with time she'll find which riffs can work, how to act in certain points, and will be even more wonderful.
twice...thats it. Nobody gave SJB crap for being out alot (of course, she was pretty injured tho so she had a good reason) but still, the first time Caissie was out was cuz she was simply exhausted, she did continues rehearsals then the actual show, the second time is cuz she was ill.
Teal isn't better than Caissie. Caissie is phenomenal and she has so much experiencia in the role, so she can bring a very ingenue Elphie in Act 1 and a very twisted, evil and rebel Elphaba, the Wicked Witch in Act 2. Caissie's voice is well trained and she can add a "witchy voice" in certain points that makes the day of every Wicked fan. I don't know why yoy keep comparing Teal and Caissie. Caissie is the lead because the producers thought she could handle it better than Teal. Both are amazing.

i LOVE Teal for these 5 reasons:
1. she has a phenomenal voice that is strong and beautiful!
2. her acting betrays a shy, yet strong-willed girl in Act 1 and a powerful and evil witch in Act 2.
3. it's her debut year and already sounds amazing!!!
4. is gorgeous! enough said.
5. has wonderful attendance!!!
