Gratefulgracy, with all due respect, I don't find Tim O'Brien nasal, if that is what you are saying. If you want to hear nasal Bluegrass, try Iris DeMent. Lordy, her vocal cord is in her nose.
Tim O'Brien is such a good musician and often underrated. Do a youtube search for "Transatlantic sessions Tim O'Brien Lonesome Road" to see him playing with the great Jerry Douglas on Dobro and Scottish fiddler Aly Bain. It's more bluegrass than this song.
This is what I would call Blue Grass which is different from country music and I like it far better. The music is far more interesting and not all of the vocals are nasal (like the male vocalist here) although that is often but not alwasy a feature of the genre.. Another terrific bluegrass performer is Alison Krause.
This was our song as we walked down the aisle, 17 years ago(1994). Still as true today as then. Love grows stronger as we walk hand in hand through each battle.
21 years ago today I married my best friend and danced with him to this song. Every year on our anniversary my husband plays this song for me. I got him first this year! Best wedding song ever!
Tim O'Brien is so hot right now he sizzles! Surely his name can be added as an artist? Great song. I hadn't heard it before. (I'm into his bluegrass, primitive mountain music, and Celtic music. Guess I missed his country.) Thanks for the upload.
Perfect wedding song - this is what marriage is about - not just sex/good times/romance etc but the commitment to walk together as life mates for the rest of your lives I want someone to sing this at my wedding it is a perfect commentary of commitment to be taken seriously, can't wait until I meet my soulmate
This was the song my wife at the time choose way back in 1997. We broke up in 04 and Divorced in 05. I still have to hear it every now again just to make sure my tear ducts still work.
I could listen to this song 100 times in a row and still not be tired of it. I have a new song to my all time favorites list. God Bless you,Kathy & Tim!
I met Kathy tonight at her "My Coal Journey" presentation as part of my university's Appalachian Studies program. It was such an amazing presentation. She is truly a very kind person, and a great advocate against MTR coal mining. Oh, and of course, I love her music!
Does anyone know the title to a song I think Kathy does that talks about leaving home at an early age and she's singing Dear Mama.... it says something about her jeans still fit. Just remember a snatch of it now.
I use to listen to that song 20 years ago and I just LOVE IT, I have forgot all about it. Am so glad I came aross it because am getting married in July and yes it will be song at my wedding. Thanks Kathy and Tim!!!
This just takes my breath away. I do wedding photography and help with getting the music together...I've suggested this beautiful song to so many couples....it's so timeless and perfect.
Mandy, that is Tim O'Brien...google him and see....great artist. This is a very old song that he did with Kathy Matea about 20 (?) years ago. I agree Big Ben, THIS is country music, not what is being called country today
Can someone please tell me who the guy is in this video with Kathy and is he in Nashville? I would love to bring him in to do some studio work! How do I get a hold of him. Thank you,
Thanks Kathy, now I can watch this vid again. For some time it was restricted. because of my geographical location thinggie. I love everything in this vid. One of my fav countgry songs, and perhaps the top one.
@TallSky, aaah there u were, did u flagg yourself, how come. Thanks, she must not have time to read so many messages, I guess. I'm glad that u know of this song from a person who is not from up there, heh.
@Jenni208 Tim O'Brien. He was in Hot Rize, mandolin and vocals. He is in Songs of the Mountain, The Crossing, Highland Sessions (Celtic), and with Darryl Scott in Real Time. HE IS FANTASTIC!!!

Some of the music on country radio today is good. Some of it is just okay. A lot of it just plain stinks.
This song does not stink. It is not just okay, and it is not just good. This is GREAT country music, the likes of which are all but forgotten today.
