Im a french canadian and I assure you we don't pronounce Jazzon Pominville. We said Jason. BTW, Jason Pominville was born in the U.S.A. So is an americain first.
Hmmm I listened to the preamble of the video and you did not mention the word massacre there. It was your HFboards post that mentioned it lol, so my point STILL stands.
Lol at Jazzon Pomin ville. Are you kidding me? He's American. I know it's a name with French origins but let's get real, that name isn't being "massacred."
Ignoring the stupid preamble of the video, the silly notion that people are "massacring" these names when the english language and north american culture basically doesn't teach people to pronounce the french R, the video is interesting NONETHELESS! I love the french language and hearing the french pronunciations.
@nourali2 Jason Pominville is actually a french canadien player who was born in Quebec but also has US citizenship and since he's not good enough for team canada he plays for the US
C'est Létourneau et non Letourneau pis Jason on le prononce toujours à l'anglaise. En fait, à moins qu'il y ait de rares exceptions, personne ne s'appellent Jazon...
Sinon pour le reste c'est all good! (Booba sur HF)
Sorry to nitpick but the only wrong one I've heard is David Desharnais. You made the pronunciation of the "s". Des Harnais. You don't do the "liason" with the S.
I know you are from Victoria, BC and all, so its very, very good, I'm impress of your accent. Just thought you'd like to know that one for David.

He was born in Quebec, moved to the States later on in his life and plays internationally for the USA.
I'm just showing people how to pronounce these names correctly.
I honestly don't see your reason in complaining here...

Guillaume Latendresse is the most butchered name tbh.
GuerreroBestEver 7 months ago
@GuerreroBestEver I'd say Letang is. The "g" is silent.
Noisemak3r 7 months ago
@Noisemak3r Yeah, it sounds like "le temps"
But the way they say Latendresse. Latin Dress. Its awful.
