Hiyaaaa! Have you heard the talk about - fast abs magic (just google it)? Ive heard some decent things about it and my cousin got really defined 6 pack abs and lost lots of weight with it.
@petergrifinto I've heard a lot about Ogre self-mutilating in earlier Skinny Puppy shows. I don't know if he actually was or if it was just good stage effects. Maybe we'll never know the full truth and it's better to let our imaginations run wild :P
If I dare say it, their newer music (since 2000) sounds more dated than this and other old songs. Their stuff from the 80s seems to never sound old. For the reason they're one of my favorite groups. I'm not a fan of their more recnt stuff though - sounds too "danceable" for me.
Indeed. I should mention that. I thought that the description of Kent State massacre was more obvious, though, while the references to Tiananmen ("Tin-Omen") Square were less obvious. It's a lot more obvious if you watch the Too Dark Park tour backing video for the song, though.
Gotta admit though: Ogre has a smart writing style.
@JuanIII Plenty of revolts followed by repression happened in '68, not just in China. The Chicago DNC police riot, the "Prague Spring" in Czechoslovakia, the May-June events in Paris...
wtf is the sun out sp is ment to be seen in a small dark club if this is the only way you have to see them by all means go but if you can see them in a dive bar it will change your fuckin life
ya see that construction that cevin key is it? is that similar to the bites tour construction they had? how does that work, does anyone know whats up with that metal stuff?
Great vid, thanks for posting! However, the song is not about the events at Tiananmen Square, it's about the Kent State shootings that occurred in Ohio during protests against the American invasion of Cambodia.
either way, last rights is the darkest, scariest piece of sound i have ever encountered! SP hold a very important part in my life. these guys are avante garde to the hilt forever!
lol you just called the guy a dumb ass, but you're the one who's wrong. it IS nivek, and his real name is kevin ogilvie. i'd have more respect for this new version of skinny puppy if that dude wasn't pretending to play the guitar and if cevin key was still the one makin' the music. that's why the last two albums suck. it's not skinny puppy anymore, in my opinion. mark walk is makin' the music now. it's the same guy who was doing the music for ogre's other project (ohgr). it's not skinny puppy :(
Someone's told you wrong. cEvin still writes the music. cEvin is writing the next album as I write this (should be out in '09). He just sends it off to other people to let them experiment with: Ken Marshall, Mark Walk, and now Otto von Shirach and Justin Bennett are on board (so I've heard).
Al Jourgenson produced Rabies, and look what we got from that: Worlock, Tin Omen, Rodent...
In the end though, cevin + ogre = Skinny Puppy; and Skinny Puppy doesn't sound like anyone else.
ARE YOU COMPARING MARK WALK TO AL JOURGENSON?! dude, i even read an interview where cevin said, all he did, for "greater wrong of the right," was supply mark with the samples lol. i'd tell you more but i went over the character limit and had to delete a bunch of shit already. oh, and don't get me started on otto von shithead. i can't believe this shit.
i agree. skinny puppy started as soley cevin and then ogre and then the addition of leebo. yea and dwayne is in there too. i wish leeb, ogre, and cevin could make one more disc for us. all of them are awesome. every album has a different flavor and thats why we want more puppy! even if their new videos range from funky and silly to really deep, im a puppy person at heart and dig it forever!
@sagie1234 Okay so this is a response to your two-year-old post; however I want to bring up a question that I don't know what to think about. It's a REALLY old noncomprehension I've had.
You typed "i wish leeb, ogre, and cevin could..." and I thought there was someone in Skunny Puppy named
'Nivek Ogre'. I thought I read that on some album artwork waaaaaay back in 1994ish. Is the guy's name Kevin, and he just uses the 'nickname' Ogre, with his name spelled backwards to make 'Nivek' ... or 'Cevin'?
@YaWantTaters There are two Kevins in Skinny Puppy: Kevin Crompton (stage name "cEvin Key") and Kevin Ogilvie (stage name "Nivek Ogre"). And as for SP on LSD... that's definitely an experience. Watch out for trips to the Too Dark Park. Don't talk to the shadow people.
I also want to add the comment that the first time I heard Skinny Puppy was the first time I dosed on blotter LSD!
I thought they were great to hear, very catastrophic yet fascinating. Fun and yet a little bit disturbing(more fun, though) that trip was. What if SP made a song or three with the guys from Ministry... I don't see how that couldn't turn out some kick-assery.
Why the fuck do I see one of the audience members wearing a baesball cap?! Is this a Skinny Puppy concert or a Limp Bizkit concert come on show up with the right gear because it just doesn't look right!
Well it just doesn't look right. Because it just defeats the whole purpose of going to a concert. Its like wearing a 50 cent t-shirt to a NIN concert you know what I mean shit like that does not match. Like when I went to the NIN show at my home town of Hawaii hardly anybody even dressed up I mean my whole point is I'm not critizing people for not dressing up I'm more like where is the pride and spirit man.
And quote me if I'm wrong but it seems like the whole underground rocker spirit has died lately year after year which is sad. I mean I'm just old school and I don't think there is anything wrong with that.
It's interesting to look at Puppy's merchandise for their Mythrus tour--it included a bandanna, a tank top, and a "fidel" hat. I wouldn't call it "going commercial," so much as it is just broadening their style--the stuff actually looked good, and I'd kill to have one of those hats ( i bought the bandanna, and I never use it ).
The underground rocker spirit is gone because stuff isn't underground anymore--information is spread online on band websites, not by word of mouth these days :P

I could not agree with you anymore. There are so many angles one can appreciate Skinny Puppy from; their music just doesn't get old to me.
Individually, I'd call Skinny Puppy's contributors geniuses in their own right. Their collaboration has been mind-blowing.

The description only tells half the story - this song is about BOTH Tienamen Square AND the US massacre of students at Kent State University.

You missed the part where neither of those events happened in 68. 1968 is another - more subtle reference. Google China 1968.
