    I haven't played this one yet, but my guess is that it's like other fighters with the chain system. What you're doing is that as soon as one attack lands, do the input for the next attack and it'll automatically go into it. Not all attacks can chain into something else or certain attacks, but that's character specific.

  • On project m the only download available is the Feb 7 demo version which has limited c haracters. Do you know where i can get the full download for all the characters together like this one?

    There will be a second demo, but even they don't know what to put in it (other than updated physics). Pretty much the only thing confirmed is that Ice Climbers won't be in it.

  • I do dislike it when people just assume stuff is broken because it's out of the ordinary or just plain good. The Project M team are some of the best of the best when it comes to Brawl modding. These guys are absolute pros and know what they're doing, especially when it comes to stuff like balance. They've definitely put a lot of thought into this.

  • If you take DI into consideration, can I still chain with Lucario so long as I guess the direction of DI right? If so, I'm rather excited. I get my chains while still having my beloved mixups.

  • @KumaOso16 Yes. Lucario is extremely technical if you want to get strings more than 4-5 hit strings. You have to make the right decision as to what move to use and think ahead of time of where they are going to DI.

    Yes. OHC is just their name for Target combos/chains applied to Lucario here.

    Yes it is. It's like Fox's shine cancel, but for a lot of Lucario's attacks. Even so, don't worry. Lucario's the only character that's going to have cancels as extensive as this.

  • @AFunnyWhisper No it's not. Smash has been all about being creative, not mashing out some bread and butter combo.

    Fox/Falco shine is one move that can be canceled by jumping but not instantly into a huge combo on hit, you actually have to react to where they go(if you hit them and not just on shield) and how they DI and what character they're playing and what stage your on and a ton of factors. This seems like they could hit you once and just close their eyes while finishing up on you.

  • @CaveStoryChaddical Well, I understand the skepticism but you are completely wrong. DI, stage, character weight, percent, all factor into OHC, but to a much higher degree then what you are mentioning above. To compensate for his new linking, the damage and kb on a lot of lucario's moves have been nerfed, and right now he is one of the most technical characters in the build. The stuff shown in the demo was without proper DI,thats it looked easy. But it isn't. The skill gap is there. don't worry.

    Marth F-airing you until you get to the edge and then D-airing you is creative in this day and age? Or Fox Shining you until either he shine-spikes you off or U-Smashes you? Or Falco Doing Shine ->D-air repeatedly?

    Don't get me wrong. I love seeing these combos.

    And obviously, Smash has DI. You can't close your eyes and do a simple string because your opponent could DI out and smack you if you aren't paying attention.

    You still didn't explain the "creativity" of those combos. Nor the fact that DI is going to prevent this chain system from being exactly like most fighters with chains.

  • @metaXzero The examples you give are very basic and something only a player who knows very little would get hung up over. They don't work on every character, most good players won't get caught often by them, and many great players don't focus on one specific combo. They use many moves in different ways to continue to keep pressure and chain farther.

    I won't comment farther whether or not I think this system is a good idea but it is not like Smash at all. No character in Smash can do this.

    Yes, U-throw 10 times to U-tilt to F-Smash is "many moves". Indeed. So is any Falcon going F-air to F-air or U-air to U-air to F-air

    a variety of moves. The general Smash combos boil down to chaining aerials (which are usually the same aerial done multiple times), chaining SHFFL aerials to either grabs (which lead to chain grabs or some aerial chain), U-tilts for alot of guys, or just the finishing Smash attack.

    DON'T GET ME WRONG. I have no problem with this. I love Smash. But I'm not going to call its combos "a variety of moves" compared to combos in most fighters. Most of it is pressure rather--

    As for target combos being alien to Smash, we already did have a REALLY basic chain in Brawl. That DACUS thing where you could cancel a Dash attack into U-Smash. It wasn't limited to on hit, but it was easiest on hit and functioned like a chain

    DI is directional influence, in case you didn't know. My point is that the victim is capable of escaping the combos, so Lucario players have to think and react in order to succeed.

    He's said to be one of the hardest characters to play as. Consider this: Lucario's moves by themselves aren't very strong, so he's forced to do complex combos. In order to string together attacks, you'd have to know exactly how every character in the game would physically react at every damage percentage. That's... a lot to keep in mind when playing. Also, the combos are probably escapable with DI and such.

  • @kasus Probably not. Think about it. Wii U is even more powerful than ps3 and xbox 360, and it was more difficult to mod a ps3 or an xbox 360 than an original Wii. The Wii U is gonna be modded, but it won't be as public as the Wii's mods.

    Not necessarily. This mod could run on an SD card over Brawl itself. As long as the Wii U has a card slot, and Wii backwards compatibility, this will work.

  • Afterdawn, take a second (or possibly first) look at the name of this system: ON HIT cancel. Meaning shielding should ruin any potential combo because Lucario isn't actually hitting the opponent.

  • @SuperMortmort you can cancel on shield, however, his moves give such low shield stun due to low damage that most are unsafe on hit even with frame perfect cancels

  • None of this is OP. Ever heard of DI? See the limit to it that appears at the end of the video? You people have no idea what you are talking about and you haven't played as him/against him at all lol. That's what playtesters are for. If it were OP, it wouldn't be here.

  • seems a little to broken guys, you probably should limit the amount of percentage damage those strings do, and lower his weight so he is easier to kill.....combo creativity like that needs to come at a trade off, either easier kills or a nerfed Up.B recovery

    i saw a match between C falcon and lucario, lucario is really fast, but his OHC is OK, he isnt so strong.

  • @HappehLemons All i have to say is that you gave Lucario a shoryuken. I hope its not as vulnerable as shoryukens in other fighter games.

    And just to make sure, I hope you dont make this OHC system the only way lucario has a chance. I hope he still has combo's like every other character but his OHC system is where he makes the money at. Oh and make sure he has combos that disregard DI, then it'd just be a guessing game of where they'd DI and hoping you hit the right move.

  • @heylookitsrob I hope that's not an insult. I really hope it isn't. You have no idea how many fighters I play. BTW, only SF4 scrubs say target combos. That term wasn't made till SF4. They were referred to as chains before that, and they still are for the most part.

    LOL But yeah, Smash players don't know FG terminology but I'm def not one of them.

  • @drsusredfish no. the lag on moves that he doesn't cancel have the same lag as normal. the frame advantage on moves that have no KB are in the negatives for him. Also his moves are unsafe on shield.
