@03falcone You just have to keep trying and hope you get lucky enough to not die. Try VERY hard to follow the exact path I took because it's the only way to win. You can't stray much at all.

If you walk right next to a wall and then lean so you can see what's on the other side Enemies Won't be able to see/detect you, you can also shoot them through the wall this way.

To answer my own question... I don't know, but I quit the game and restarted from the save. Running straight through the middle gave me a small injury, but I made it! Only Rank D, however, so better luck next time. Do you get a different ending if you make Rank A?

If Cthulhu receives enough damage to die, he explodes into little pieces, which reform into Cthulhu again unharmed.

He cannot be killed. He is a god. Dagon and Hydra are (likely) just incredibly old Deep Ones.

If Cthulhu could be killed, it would completely subvert HP Lovecraft's overall theme of the Cthulhu Mythos.

In the Mythos, humanity is basically screwed and there is nothing we can do about it.

Yep, but in fact, the PC game is based on the RPG Call of Cthulhu, it is made under Chaosium licence too. And this universe use the matrice of Cthulhu mythos, but investigators humans can do something to fight octopus... Or try ^^ Because this is a game, not novels, there's need to be action.

@EvilSandwich I kind of like how the Cthulhu Mythos is, in a fucked up way, like a cross between a sort of Absurdist, fatalistic Norse mythological perception. We are all going to die and lose against evil, but the Norse knew this, and believed that they were truly undefeated because, when offered the choice of giving up and dying or fighting back and dying, they chose the latter. They don't physically win, but rather remain the undefeated party. Death would mean nothing to a god, anyway.

The Mythos is very strange - it suggests that Hydra and Dagon are both minor Old Ones that work with Chuthulu, but it also suggests that they are also Deep Ones. The game also suggests that Hydra is a deep one, but Dagon is a god (at least that is my own interpretation).

I have a feeling that they are both Gods and Deep ones - as the Chuthuli are the "spawn of Chuthulu", so should the Deep Ones be the corresponding spawn of Hydra and Dagon.

In the one I read, it just says that he and his spawn waged war on the Elder Things and the Shoggoths (which lived on earth at the time), and drove the Elder Things into the sea. But as a final revenge, the Elder things came to his home on Rlyeh and put the Elder sign on the door of his home, so that he would be trapped in his state of Fhtagn

@darkchiron Yeah, can't be killed by humans, but I wouldn't say he's eternal or completely invincible. He's a Great Old One (one of the most powerful among them, but still) and not an Outer God. Compared to humans, Cthulhu is indeed a god, but entities such as Azathoth are on a higher level of power altogether: they're cosmic principles, the closest thing to true gods in Lovecraft's universe.
