  • you CAN do anything you set your mind too put the effort in you will be amazed.

  • Just realised why I get depressed watching bands play live...... it doesn't sound like this!

  • This is okay. But what they really need is more amps.

  • turn up to 11 on the volume!!!! Jaki Liebezeit is THE drummer!!!

  • I can`t help but nod my head like a nutter to this. If my head falls off it`s all Liebezeit`s fault.

  • They nailed it. They fucking NAILED IT!

This is so deep into the groove they're gonna need a JCB to get 'em out.

    Go Jaki!

  • magician guy keeps dropping stuff down!on 3:11 and then again on 3;26 LOL

  • i just cant get into it

  • loko!!!!!

  • la locua del ser humano impresionante

    !!!!!!!!

  • one of the original punk bands ??

  • Comment removed

  • damo suzuki yes

  • Better Than Metallica

  • Legendary band !!!

  • what? no lady gaga comparisons? that needs to be righted.

  • @Edwardo83 NO

  • gaagooooooooogaagooooooooooooogaagoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

  • I saw Damo Suzuki live show in Tokyo at last night. Awesome show!!He is still great!!

  • Not to keen on Damo's fishtail

  • Falto un buen cigarro y una cerveza...

  • They had not so much amps in the early seventies, you know? War just was over and we didn't have anything. Poor times.

  • @Osmanowitsch hehe chAMPS...we were so poor we even had no white but only brown sugar! the stones had the biggest amps to admire and on the rod big balls of fire ;-) very very very raw but pure times indeed!

    dose were the pose:

"gimme your spoon i trade you my knife my ill lil sista as a wife and my brother in laws uzi hehehe""

  • damo looks like yoko ono

  • NEEEEED MOOOARRRRRRRRRRRR AMPZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ also the hell is damo singing there?

  • THIS MUSIC CAN'T HAVE ENOUGH AMPS!

  • They would have stopped buying amps, but their hair was over their eyes so they couldnt see all the amps.

  • Beyond Prog!

  • Who is that psychedelic bartender?

  • Jaki looks pretty good here.

  • Musical Botticelli!

  • Brilliant moment of music

  • Auch!

  • 0:55....is the strap peg...on the BASS?

  • We need more Jugglers in bands.

  • fucking amazing

  • Sounds like that tune from 'Easy Rider' when Wyatt and Billy are riding their bikes after the New Orleans Cemetery Acid Trip.

  • If I ever encounter a genie, I'll ask to go back in time and see this live.

  • this is real music, valve amps etc, none of your digital rubbish.

Modern music is like it is made out of Lego. When Can played, ANYTHING was possible. great clip.

  • if anyone nowadays asks me if Can were any good, i send them a link to this video. this settles the question.

  • Cologne Sport Arena?

  • LOL, that's one very introverted performance.

  • I am Damo Suzuki. Not Mark E Smith.

  • exact improvisation.

  • I'm not a drummer, but damn, that ride rhythm that comes into prominence around 1:50 sounds like it requires some serious woodshedding.

  • Playing at Maçka Küçükçiftlik Park, Istanbul on 05/28/11

they love turkish, can means life in turkishi and ege banyası is a vegetable

  • awesome, i had already forgotten how good they are...they all rock no matter how german. damo suzukis singing uses the same repetitive improvising technique as the others and that makes it perfect...

  • so fucked up in the best way possible

  • The Viet Cong dude was righteous, buyt the rest of the cats were German.

  • THIS IS REAL GERMAN MUSIC

  • MORE AMPS! MORE AMPS! MORE AMPS!MORE AMPS!MORE AMPS!MORE AMPS!MORE AMPS!MORE AMPS!MORE AMPS!MORE AMPS!MORE AMPS!MORE AMPS!MORE AMPS!MORE AMPS!MORE AMPS!MORE AMPS!MORE AMPS!.....

  • "the pusher kid killer", does anyone know what he's actually saying?

  • k buenos orates!

  • what is that amp that the bass player is using?

  • @iguisard

Probably an Ampeg, but I see about 35 amps on stage...:-)

  • At 3:10 shit gets far fuckin out.

  • Am I just stoned or is this brilliant stuff?

  • KRAUTROCK ARE THE HEAVY METAL OF EXPERIMETAL MUSIC

  • I think they need more amps.

  • @twobyfour

    and cowbell!

  • Would love to see Damo live, sent an e-mail asking whether he'll come to Canada to perform with his Network concept. No plans to come, but "he'll see". Check out his videos, noisy and interesting.

  • @mrochon121

In 2005 he played a Canadian tour with 7 dates. Played in Vancouver in 2009.

  • @heartsandscissors Wish I had known about him then. Anyhow I'll keep an eye out, and re-email him to see wheter he has made new plans.

  • wow - whacky. Take a look - would be nice.

    watch?v=vlemsBCYG0Y

  • I wonder what would happen if I place all those amps in my bedroom and play a chord...

    Can=best

  • CAN et MAGMA deux groupes Majeurs de la création musicale des années 70

  • still the coolest band from my neighbourhood... GREAT!

  • I know all the big Can songs, but can not quite figure out at the moment which one this is. But it is definitely NOT "Spoon".

  • @XRayAus

You're right. This song is not "Spoon". It's "Spoon (live)". :-) Do you know what "instant composing" means?

    CAN = GREATEST MUSIC EVER!

  • cool

  • all your amps are belong to us

  • I musta been kool after all!

  • I musta been Kool after all!

  • this sounds nothing like the recorded version.

  • @bocaburgler clue: when a live band sounds like the recorded version, something is wrong :-)

  • dont mess with that mustang bass!

  • Perfect Zeitgeist and a precursor for PunK! With a touch of more extrovertive-ness, more directness and in your face lyrics they could have conquered the world! But then again - that was the Zeitgeist.

  • love

  • Jaki is drumming like a machine with some human feel. I don't know any other drummer with that special timing.

    Best drummer of all time!!

  • @GilmoreOfTheFillmore phil selway?

  • What year are these guys from?

I don't mean "what year was this filmed".

I mean, what year are these guys FROM??

  • @InsertDeepLyrics from the 60's

  • @Gonzalokraut Yeah, but what century? I'm guessing the 24th.

  • @InsertDeepLyrics They decended from another dimension (possibly the 11th) where their music went beyond the conventional realms of logic.

  • hot fuck

  • Mmmm.. sounds more like Father Cannot Yell than Spoon

  • Comment removed

  • Can is jejus.

  • damn they have a lot of amps

  • mescaline anyone? pint a raw ether

  • Irmin looks happy as a clam here. A super nerdy clam.

  • This is def the best version. All that hair and teeth. Nobody noticed the bloke juggling his heart out.

  • All that hair and teeth. Nobody noticed the bloke juggling his heart out.

  • No Floydian light show, just a curtain backdrop and a juggler. Can = ultimate cool.

  • sounds like paranoia... i dig it

  • @boogster123321 It DOES sound like paranoia!

  • Comment removed

  • @boogster123321 ..im not paranoid,everyone just thinks i am!

  • Where and when was this?

  • @mbejvb i think hamberg 1960 something.. late sixties early seventies. its a free concert can put on to record and edit for ideas.. fucking great!!!! one of the times i would go to if i had a time machine.

  • @RobDistant This concert was in 1972 (Because you can see a picture of it on the backcover of ege bamyasi) and took place in Cologne. If you want to see the whole thing, you have to buy the CAN - DVD, it features the whole film.

  • @Gedankenfabrik92 yea, iv seen the dvd. absolutley great! ah 1972.. early 70s.. on the can dvd there is a great section where they are all jaming outdoors and have swaped instroments. i think its around the time tago mago was released. a real hippy jam with acoustics, bongos and whistles.. well worth checking out. my fave band of all time.(well one of! haha)

  • My dad introduced me to Can, thus making him immediately and automatically cool. Thanks Dad!

  • @yayrappelz you lucky sod, I got fuck all!

  • @yayrappelz

Your dad isn't cool. He is awesome. Don't sell him short.

  • @yayrappelz oh yes, the COOL-MACHINE

  • @yayrappelz Your dad is cool by definition. Can he juggle like that butler chap?

  • /-\RT▬of the Highest order ♫♠♫

  • Ive just been canned

  • i seriously doubt Sonic Youth does a good job of this song. They can't even do a good job at their own stuff. Being youthful may be a state of mind, but you can't outgrow elitism and shitty songwriting.

Can...they don't suck. Musta been cool to be really far-out before a bunch of assholes from NY wrecked things...No Wave huh...Can had a huge wave. Noise isn't music, and if you say it is, you're full of shit.

    (just my opinions)

  • @mfnheff Actually, Czukay, and Karoli, were quite complimentary towards Sonic Youth, and you can see Karoli complimenting them on the CAN documentary, where they discuss the tribute album Sacrilege. Czukay even said they were better at playing than CAN were, that Can had to really fight to come up with tunes, whereas SY were better at it. His words to that effect, mind you, not mine. Although, I think SY are brilliant as well. Noise can be music, I think you are missing the point of Can.

  • @mfnheff

With all due respect, your opinions are full of shit. Please, listen to the studio versions of Expressway to Yr Skull or Schizophrenia a few times, then come back to them later, and tell me when you start hearing the noise and not the radiance or the overtones.

There's a reason you don't 'get' SY. To begin to enjoy Daydream Nation, I had to let the songs sit in my head for a year and eventually see the band live. Give that a go instead of insulting a very special group of musicians.

  • Look, i don't know who the fuck you are or what's in your ears or what kind of aversion you have to Sonic youth but they actually do a better version of this and "Youth' is a state of mind not an age. I guarantee that you will look older then them when your pushing 60 and if you play music at all then you will sound older then them as well. they have found something very few artists will find, solidarity and longevity.

  • Jaki is the best drummer ever. He is fiercely committed to the groove, a fill becomes a part, not a fill, it is never tangential, is always wrapped tightly around the beat

Selflessness, ears, *unpretentious* musicianship.. all very hard to come by these days

  • Jaki Liebezeitg is only bettered by John French. Brilliants!!!

  • Sonic youth does a good version of this.

  • @4578a that sounds awesome

  • @4578a "Sonic Youth" are not youth, and they do not do a good version of this song. Nobody does but Can, on LSD, in the early '70s.

  • groovy man : ]

  • damo's onesie is mighty tight

  • funky damo

  • ダモさん、すげえなあ。

  • There is going to be three great shows in London with Damo on 2nd, 3rd, and 4th of May at the Luminaire with Vultures Quartet, SonVer, Render Plant, N.E.W.the Dominic Lash Quartet, and the Atomic Crashdown!

There are still about 40 tickets left per night. You can get them at wegottickets and the event number is 73655 or just look up Damo Suzuki Experimental Music Festival and select the day you want to attend!

    Hope you can make it!

  • This song is from Egeb Bamyasi LP
