i don't think you understand he's not playing with an acoustic guitar but he's playing it on a clean setting thus it sounds acoustic- and he's palm muting it to make it quieter

Not necessarily clean....more just lower volume. Any good pickup and amp will just clean up the sound if you turn down the volume on your guitar. That and he's playing softly. If he were to hit it harder it would be more distorted.
