I've been reading Khaos Komix also, I don't remember for how long, but I think I started on the archives when it was halfway through the 3rd chapter. I really like it as well, the various perspectives are fascinating, as well as the genderqueer subject mater. Of course your webcomic is still my favorite, I think primarily due to the frequent updates... which really makes or breaks one of those IMO.

You don't need a new mic, you just need to either not have it in your face, or have some kind of windscreen or cover for it. The 'static' is just air hitting the mic. Hence why it pops especially loud on the hard vowels like Ps and Ks.

Bump to the comments on the microphone. Just set the desk mike on the desk and it should be fine, don't have to hold it to your mouth.

I listen to audio books also! If you get them in digital format you can listen to them on your MP3 player while traveling!

it's not a desk mic but a headset. If I put it farther away, it wouldn't pick anything up. Will fix mic for next time

You're just holding the mic too close to your mouth. The desk mics like that are good for picking up if you just let them rest on the table and project your voice towards it. You're obviously not aiming to go too high-end on this since it's just a vlog, but if you intend on filming these at a con sometime, grab an ATR-55 shotgun mic. Read into them, Indy Mogul has a great video tutorial on them and sound in general.
