The D at the end doesn't necessarily have to be belted. It's all a matter of acting choices, to be honest.

from the way i hear her sing in the rest of the song, its clear that she CAN belt the ending notes, but i think it shows her diversity as an artist to decide to go into head voice for the ending. also, she adds her own to the role, which is wat i think everyone should do. dont sing it like the recording or how you saw it. make it YOUR OWN. and i think she did just that. amazing.

why should she have belted it? in the original cast, the singer changes register too, and i'm pretty sure that's what the composer intented when he wrote it, and I bet the notes says pianissimo at that palce, the you can't belt + it just shows that she masters her voice... i really can't see why it would have made it better.

sorry i can't agree with you, i think it's much better this way, creates much more variation in the song... and honestly i've never been very found of the singer from the original cast, i don't know how her acting is but her singing is only semi-good.

The composer? You mean stephen schwartz? Bad news. The notes do not say pianissimo, it's the climax of the song, it says forte. I'm doing the show right now and it most def needs to be belted.

the climax can mean a moment filled with emotion as well. it's all down to personal/ and the directors interpritation. the score and libreto is a guide - yes the song has to be sung but that doesn't mean the composer got the dynamics perfect. perhaps schwartz has seen this and likes this version. you never know.

I listened to it. She did well, but it didn't change my mind. I mean, compared to the other versions on youtube it was damn good.

Naomi Price just performs so well, and I believe better than Bailey Boyd. I see alot of Harvest Rain's productions, including this one, and can tell you they are amazing. If you get the chance to go, I suggest you do. The rest of this song was great aswell, and the chorus group also did very very well.

Harvest Rain is doing their last production at the theatre they are at now (Sydney Street Theatre, New Farm, Brisbane, Queensland, Australia etc. etc.) which is The Sound of Music (It was great- I saw it last week =)) before they move to QPAC- or the Queensland Performing Arts Centre.
