Carter n t-mac wudve been way better than lebron n wade they're both idiots lol neither got 1 title or mvp bu carter without question had the most potential in nba history bu no heart
Vince was much better than T-Mac...I don't just mentally at times, he was too passive. If only he had more heart, things might've been better. But I think looking at the potential they had, it definitely feels like Vince only harnassed like 40% of his potential...he could've been WAY better.
You look back on it and you realize that even though those old Raptor teams sucked a lot of the time, they all had some interesting characters and even great guys. I'll never like Vince for how he gave up on us, but guys like Alvin Williams, Antonio Davis, JYD, Morris Peterson... Those guys were the best.
My favourite player is T-Mac after Jordan ofc but to my view T-Mac was the next best thing, he had everything, Vince was a high-flyer he could shoot and pass and all that but he wasn't as complete as T-Mac, I love watching both of them but T-Mac is the man.. the real question really is "What If"?
Would T-Mac be the same player if he didn't left, would they have at least a ring wich they deserve? you'll never know
What a terrible interviewer! He didn't let people finish. Still skiping between various topics... 20 minutes and I don't know anything new about those guys. Anyways, good luck Vince & T-Mac with your new teams! I love you both!
This situation is just like that infamous KG-Starbury drama 12-13 years ago.. It's sad when you think about what could have been. Yes, the ring is what matter the most and it should be, but the VC-TMac duo would be at least a legitimate playoff contender and probably a finals or two in their sleeves (if the Nets with that talent did it twice at the time, I couldn't write Raps off). And most importantly, nowadays these two would be regarded as WINNERS, not former all stars or aging superstars...
..the terms that are regularly associated when speaking of them in the media..Yes TMac was young back then and wanted all the spotlight just for him.. He got that.. In Orlando..In Houston.. Now, he is booed in both of those towns. He never won a playoff series in his 15 year career. But, some will say he was a two time scoring champion..7 time all star.. FUCK THAT. I'm 100% sure, that he would trade all of that for that summer decision of 2000..But unfortunately, that's a trade he cannot demand.
@MilanPantic2891...in 2007 Vince Carter and J-Kidd became the first teammates to have triple doubles in the same game since Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen in 1989...Im sure if T-Mac had stayed aside Vince and accepted the Pippen role to Vince's MJ role...they would have broken many records as a duo.
man, they were two amazing players. two of my favorite players along with iverson. but at the time when tracy left each all star had their own team. didnt want to share the spotlight unlike now where they all compact into one single team. but what if is always the question.
mp3shit that's why I watch NBA perhaps even with its flaws. I am doing this training course that's utilized even by NBA players - "50inchvertical [dot] com" - I am already jumping higher and leading my team on the court!
I don't think they would have won championships. Maybe one. Finals probably. They would have had to beat the Lakers from 2000-2002, Spurs x3, Pistons, Miami. After that (2007), they would have been too old. Would they have been able to beat the Pistons in the East? I don't know, that was one of the best defensive team in the history of the game. What If would have been one Finals appearance, that's all. Toronto fans are so full of themselves...we would not have beaten the West
Just like the show says...WHAT IF...for kobe to say we wud of won ships that says a lot...vince by far best raptor and best player in the league in the era hands down...he reminds me of jigga smooth n classy with his style of game play...pleasure to watch vince at his prime...no man in the nba right now can make me jump like vince did....air canada buds! Uh, they didn't break that team up Oak. You left, and I think Christie left too, and they tried to get better by signing Olajuwon (which failed, obviously), but they still kept a good core of what got them there.

McGrady HAD to leave to prove himself which he did. Carter got traded for various reasons. There's just no one to blame, and its just something that happened.
They were young and wanted their own team. Now you see players trying to share spotlight for the ring. Would you rather have the entire spotlight from a city or a part of the spotlight from the world?
This interview is the perfect example of why T-Mac left. He kept getting cut off, all of his answers were pushed aside and Vince had the spotlight most of the time. You can't be mad at Tracy for leaving because if he never left he may have never become the T-Mac that we all loved to watch.

I think these guys are what toronto should try to emulate now. Athleticism, toughness, defense, and these guys had a connection that players in toronto havent had ever again.
@LoowheezeBreeze Are you kidding me? He may have been old compared to the young defensive minded Camby, but raptors needed a mentor, not a freshman. Besides, Oakley has mentored many allstars including Scottie Pippen.
@eafanboyssuck Camby was the center the Raptors have been missing since they traded him. Camby was the 2007 NBA Defensive Player of the Year, 2x NBA Defensive First Team, 2x NBA Defensive Second Team.
@LoowheezeBreeze I know what Camby did. That being said, the raptors needed veteran leadership, as they had talent, but no leadership. The raptors would not have made the playoffs and eventually the Eastern semifinals without Oak.
Camby was the better player, and a valuable centre piece, but without Oakley, Carter would probably have bolted much earlier.
@eafanboyssuck there are other ways to acquire veteran leadership. Giving up the 2nd overall pick after his 2nd season in the league for a 35 year old jump shooting PF was not the right play...
It would be like Oklahoma trading James Harden for RIchard Hamilton...
@LoowheezeBreeze I'm not saying the trade was a good trade, I am saying it wasn't one of the biggest mistakes. Trading old for young is never a good idea, but Oakley had that much value as a player, but more importantly for his persona. Harden for Hamilton is completely different. In terms of influence only, like Howard for Shaq.

Trading Camby for Oakley remains one of the biggest mistakes in Raptors history...
LoowheezeBreeze 3 months ago
@LoowheezeBreeze Are you kidding me? He may have been old compared to the young defensive minded Camby, but raptors needed a mentor, not a freshman. Besides, Oakley has mentored many allstars including Scottie Pippen.

@eafanboyssuck Camby was the center the Raptors have been missing since they traded him. Camby was the 2007 NBA Defensive Player of the Year, 2x NBA Defensive First Team, 2x NBA Defensive Second Team.
We gave that up for 3 years of Oakley...
