  • Glen was so talented.... It's funny. Every now and then his son will sound exactly like him!

  • I think they are trying to get over the hump

  • Oh, I have a post on youtube. Anthropology and Civil Rights check it out. Discussing my home town and the 1960s civil rights movement

  • cool, and happy new years. I am a senior citizens who has followed Clinton since the 70s. Love his grove. One the 1 take care and thanks for the enlightenment. Dig Brown live in Spain for a while now, love Wesley he cooks. My son 36, follow Clinton across the country so he knows who is who and who plays with whom. Too bad the best die young. Love Amy Winehouse, she was a bad ass too. check her out.

  • The PFunk horn section among the best in the World. CK out James Brown Live in Spain 1971 ( Fred Wesley on trombone/ Bootsy on base = as well as live in Monetrery California, Fred Wesley cooks

  • @terry47family

thatz not the PFunk Horns. the Horny Hornys left to go with Bootsy. so Chops Horns had to fill in, in 77. the PFunk Horns hadnt been created yet. i think?

  • Glen Goins is the most underrated greatest singer.

If he was still alive after 1978,P-Funk would be getting better than them we know...

  • Yes, Yes, YES. THE MOTHERSHIP CONNECTION IS HERE!!!

  • Hey Freddy, Westbound Records owns the majority of their music because George put up his publishings as collateral to cover whatever debt he had !!! Now as a end result, he's performing because he has to & has no loot coming in !!!

  • This reminds me of a secular black tarry service. Using some of the same tools like call and response but most importantly they just hold that deep groove and keep chanting till theres a breakthrough or the spirit comes. How many of yall young black folks know bout that old technique of the black church tradition?

  • 8:43 Hell yeah man... lol

  • P-Funk was a lot of people to pay, and George wasn't banking like a lot of people believed he was. he was getting ripped out of his royalties at the time.

  • with all the cats on stage every night I don't think they tripped too much about getting paid. Though I'm sure it was an issue at times. People will be pople, funk or not. The money issues for Bootsi, Gary, Glen and the major players was writers royalities that George was burning cats out of. So when hear stuff 'bout not getting paid, that's what their reffering to. Then I heard years ago George was in legal battles over what royaltis he did have. So now I wonder who get paid for sampling?

  • this is mothership connection (starchild).they sing "gotta get over the hump",but they never go into bop gun(endangered species).check out houston 78 ,THAT'S bop gun...

  • Shit with damn near 60 or over people on and off stage a night , how much do you think he could have gotten paid , but I agree with his vocal abilities

P.S that horn line is like off the rickter !

  • @Newjock Thats basically why Parliament gets a lot of attention it took the talent of many legends like Bootsy Collins,Maceo,Walter ''Junie Morrison'' of the Ohio Players,,Dawn Silva of Sly and The Family Stone and other members all made a funk gumbo.Parliament/Funkadelic would not of been that successful if it didn't comprise of these much musicians from various established bands, but that was its drawback since you can only split the royalties amongst so many musicians.

  • @DestinysVictor I agree wholeheartly

  • REAL musicians back then had to work so hard to make money, hell Dallas running back Duane Thomas in an interveiw stated how his contract in 1972 was 40,000 dollars, WTF? now you can be a scrub bench warmer and make a minimum of around 300,000. and back to musicians real musicians playing their own instruments not uding computers to enhance their voice and today you have little snot nose Beiber making millions, what B.S.

  • @use2slam2

40,000 Dollars?! The sad thing about that is the fact that the Cowboys were World Champions in the 71 season so he must have not gotten much of a pay raise at all. Sad!

  • nice collar glen ;)

  • god bless that man...

  • this kind of music makes you proud to be black and in america.

  • @cgord37 Yes as a 22year old this is empowering! I LOooooooove this FUNK! RIP GLEN seen them live a few days ago, in NY blew my mind

  • This isn't song isn't Bop Gun. This is mislabeled.

    I still love it though.

  • @Janko630 This concert was just before the release of "Funkentelechy Vs The Placedo Syndrome", the album from which "Bop Gun (Endangered Species) originated...PEACE.

  • This video is mislabeled. This song is not Bop Gun.

  • @Janko630 They are blending both tunes together. Mothship Connection and BopGun. Listen closely. I got get over the hump is from Bopgun.

  • @Lar112 Bop Gun was just released as a single.....

  • glen was so badd and fonkay!god rest his soul.

  • Glenn Goins - A spirit that died way to young. Hetep-

  • R.I.P. Glen Goins! This the Funk Baby!

  • the mothership connection is here!!!!

  • "If u ain't gon get in on-TAKE YO DEAD ASS HOME! Dat's Glen Goins yall. RIP brotha-gone 2 soon

  • houston.. a funky city indeed

  • This is black!!!!

  • 123djblive ....you question who was the original is really complicated. There has been close to 100 singers and musicians in P-Funk. Going back decades to it's beginnings Tiki Fulwood, Tal Ross, Billy Nelson, Bernie Worrell, Eddie Hazel, George Clinton, Fuzzy Haskins, Ray Davis, Calvin Simon and Grady Thomas started it all.

  • so much soul!!!!!!!

  • INDEED, exasperating, jubilating..

    SWEET DREAMS Glen..

  • Yes it iiiiiiisssssss!!!

  • Glenn's vocals stays wit ya like uh woodpecker with ah headache! when they all sing Red Hot Mama it's like watching some thing you shouldn't miss!

  • Maceo and Fred Wesley on Horns!!!! Do it!!!

  • Glen Was A True Vocalist.

  • More than that!! I Agree!! RIP GLENN!!!

  • AINT NOTHING BUTT A PARTY!!!!

  • Brutal, Bop it Clinton

  • LOL. If you anit gon get on take yo dead ass home. that line kills me everytime. Hott

  • Glen was by far the Greatest singer to ever perform as a member of the FUNK MOB. It is a shame that George would not pay him. George was a great talent evaluater, but Gary, Glen, Bernie, Ray, Mike and Jerome are like the original 5 TEMPTATIONS, the music peaked with them and it has not been the same since those 6 stopped recording together. Glen had great vocal range.

  • Who where the original P FUNK? Not that I'm not old skool!!!

  • The original P-Funk was Bernie, Gary Shider, Jerome Brailey, and Cordel Boogie Mosoon. Glen came the following year and Mike Hampton came in after Eddie Hazels drug issues but that P- Funk crew was the Funk Mob circa 75-77

  • Amen. Glen's voice is like a precursor to Anthony Hamilton.Pure chuchy vocals. Don't forget Bootsy, Ed Hazel and the fact that Glen could play guitar also!!

  • Bollocks. Learn the history of the p-funk. Mike has nothing on Eddie Hazel. Original P-Funk Maggoteer.

  • True, but by that stage Eddie had a lot of problems with drugs and had issues with Clinton. In terms of song writing creativity, you can't compare Hampton to Hazel.

  • Agreed amigo... Both are hella dope, but Eddie has my vote...

  • @jnash2929

I agree with you about Glenn. But don't forget Bootsy. Most of Parliaments music during the period 75-77 plus some lyrics were from him

  • Comment removed

  • @jnash2929 AMEN. preach. dont forget bout the Horny Horns, Eddie. it was a mega-group, with a superstar at every position.

  • @jnash2929 AMEN. preach. dont forget bout Eddie and the Horny Horns. it was a mega-group, with an allstar at every position. plus, i heard after one tour they all got $25 and a bus ticket home.

  • @jnash2929 George could not pay know body.He took that advance and it fuck every thing up.That is why eddy tryed to shot him.

  • Glen is our Mother Ship connection...talent personified, his voice stays in my heart, soul & head daily.....

  • I Always Find Myself Playing Glenn Saying "YEAH!!!" Over And Over Again. So Soulful.

  • this is magic nothing is better than jamming with the funk mobb. funk on

  • Blacker than black...Blood even!!!!

  • George at his prime doin his thing

  • i could listen to these guys groove all day, but its missing eddie

  • This should have been one the Mothership Connection DVD

  • do they still sell these dvds?

  • Glen Goins did in fact know how 2 take us 2 the 1st Intergalactic Church of Funk...and Ray Davis made a perfect usher...

  • Glenn Goins was truly astonishing... I have been playing and studying all forms of music for 22 years, from when I was akid and I couldnt name 10 singers as great as him... Think about it, hes a 22 year old kid there!

  • Is the drummer in the pocket or what!!!! That lazy sock cymbal!! Its in there!! Glenn taking us to church!!

  • YES INDEED!!!!! Got some DC flavor in it ...all it need was some congos and bongos and u have Go-Go! Say what now? LOL

  • I think Imma have to agree with you. Especially when they say "Got to get over the hump"!

  • Agreeing with ioxxd90. Bringing that DC flavor into it.

  • First time I saw this video I was like WOAH. They cranking like I don't know what. Especially "Gotta get over the hump". My band used that hook once. We do gospel go go and I told one of the girls to hit that joint and she tore it up with "Gotta get ova da homp" LOL....

  • My wife is praise and worship is leader and I play the bass, and I cant get her onto Gospel Go-Go. Im still tryin....

  • Keep praying, Some people just don't feel the gospel go-go ect ect. But I love it. My wife loves it too. She's learning to play the bass.

  • My pastor's son is only 15, plays the drums, and he has raided my old go-go collection. Everytime he is in my truck, he wants me to blast Rare Essence's Doin it Old School Style, track 6 - "The One on One"

  • lol. I know that's right.

  • mi pussy is dripping

    bby JT

  • put it on youtube..lol

  • live version is so sick, Glenn is so awesome like WOW

  • This is the best version of Bop Gun, live or studio....Period. Glenn and Ray carried this to whole nother level.

  • Cool! This is an embryonic version of Bop Gun. The basis is still Dr. Funkenstein. The horns are playing a bit that resurfaced in Sir Nose D'Voidoffunk.

Compare with 'Bop Gun- Houston 1978' - unfortunately without Glenn Goins.

  • George and the gang are very very bad!!!

  • This is the kind of funk that don't wash away with soap!

  • Yes, yes....the GREAT Glen Goings. RIP. I wish he would have left us with a album of gospel tunes. Lawd have mercy...that would've been too much!!

  • I wish the radio would play this on my way 2 work. Real musicians and real music. This is the type of music that sticks to your bones.

  • Senior in high school in 1977. What memories. How bout "Sting" Ray Davis (Deep Voice). I've been swimming ever since. Stank ya!

  • Glenn Goins, what a voice! Overall simply fantastic video.

  • those STUMES are OUTRAGEOUS!!! luv it

  • garry, and glenn was outtasight, but let's not forget 'sting'ray davis with that smooth baritone voice. he knew how to tear the roof off the suckah.rip glenn& ray.

  • shit, gotdamn, get off your ass and jam!

  • its not shit, its shake

  • on it's "shit". learn your funk.

  • Wow. You don't see too much of the early footage with Glenn Goins.

  • I love Glenn!! He looks like a 20 yr old Morgan Freeman in this clip!

  • Which one is Sly?

  • This is the crankenest video by the band ever. WHen they get into "The Mothership Connection is Here" & "Got to get over the hump" Listen to the crowd!! They have a little "DC" groove here. The horns, all of this. Yeah Glenn had the gift of singing and getting people up. I'm not taking nothing from Garry. Garry is tite in his own way too. But this joint is the bomb........

  • i gotta get over the hump

  • WHAT DVD IS THIS FROM?

  • Unfortunately it isn't on DVD.

  • thank god sum one finaly got da p-funk earth tour posted thanks bruh

  • dude i hate glen died at such a young age he was best vocal in tha group

  • Yeah I agree but Garry did a good job in later years as the lead vocalist but he was never better then Glen. Garry did a lot of yelling. LOL

  • yeah, you're right. I love Gary but Glenn would get everyone off their asses!

  • Great video
