I correct my misspelling. A fight on stage...So, it´s very important to avoid arousing panic or violent behaviour in places where lots of people are tightly packed like in concert venues.
Lighting doesn´t look good, did the NW guys see well what happened?
One should use 1-2 sec to analyse the situation before doing anything. Has the attacker a weapon, eg knife? If so, stay away. Is the attacker very violent, eg he strangles or kicks? If so, the bandmate needs immediate help, but can you help better or faster than security?
If a fight breaks out on the stage some people from the audience are likely to climb over the fence and join it.
A fight a stage easily leads to chaos and many people may get injured.
If you don´t know what to do or the bandmate doesn´t seem to be in real danger, stay calm, keep on playing and let the security handle the situation.
Bands like NW and Epica don´t easily stop playing, they continued even if Anette and Simone left the stage, a reasonable thing to do. A technical crew member could check what was the matter with the vocalist.
Bands should have plans what to do in abnormal situations.
hmmm... it may sound stupid but who knows.. maybe tuomas was so concentrated into this song because it was his flute solo just when she was attacked so he didn't see... and all those blinking lights.. who knows..?
Why is everyone blaimg the band and not the security? It's the security that failed, not the band. Personally, I think everyone in the band just froze on the spot, I don't think any one of them knew what's happening at that moment, they were just shocked. By the time they could have reacted, the guy was already overwhelmed by the security.

I can see why they didn't help Tarja. 1: They probably didn't want to stop playing in a middle of a song and ruin more like it was already and 2: Some people don't know what to do when something happens out of the blue. Look at when Anette left the stage. The guys were confused and Marco was totally unprepared when he was singing the rest of the song. Calm down, people. Every band isn't perfect. nightwish was playing in Mexico in 2000 and Tarja was attacked by a drunk fan. instead of helping her the "friendly bandmembers" simply moved away from her. Her husband (he guy that jumped right away to pull the dude away) knew her for 9 days back then. after the attack the guys kept playing and at the end tuomas makes a statement "we are not sure will Tarja come back to the stage". after the concert her husband stayed with her and the rest of the band left :/

Tarja went to the backstage and started to cry, she said that she was very shocked. Then, when Marcelo arrived, the guys told him to stay with her and comfort her. End of story.
That's very sad for Tarja, and that's very bad from the guys.
In fact, if you listen to the studio version of this song (which is FantasMic [3rd part]), you can hear two voices, both from Tarja. But as you know, she can't sing the two voices at the same time, so one of them is sung by Tarja, and the other one is the recorded one. That's why you can hear someone singing, it's the recorded voice of Tarja ;)

Estuvo muy bien lo que hicieron sus compañeros de banda.

Thank god Marcelo was there. Tarja would have been raped before the band would have even started thinking about doing something.( I mean, helloo?!?! Tuomas and the bassist were standing right next to her!) And afterwards, they asked Marcelo to comfort her, while they went to do something else. Instead of blaming the band for not knowing what to do fans should blame the guy that went on the stage, and the security who did nothing. Threy are the ones to blame. It;s not the bands roll to handle off this kind of occasions. The security should do that.
That they didn't go to Tarja afterwards I don't understand either, but I don't think it was to just drink a beer... This is just as in the situation when Anette left the stage (although it was not because of this reason of course), but fans always seem to want to blame somebody, and in this case it's the band who has to pay. Like I said before, you don't know what to do in this kind of occasions. I think if it would have happened outside a gig, they would have helped Tarja.
I don't blame the band. In situations like this you just don't know what to do, let the secrurity handle this, or interfere yourself? Something like this happens in seconds. You just hope the security comes up the stage any moment, while you try to finish the song. It's at least how I think about it. They decided to stay professional, and to at least finish the song, and to leave the stage in a propper way, instead of just walking away in the middle of the song.

I can see why they didn't help Tarja. 1: They probably didn't want to stop playing in a middle of a song and ruin more like it was already and 2: Some people don't know what to do when something happens out of the blue. Look at when Anette left the stage. The guys were confused and Marco was totally unprepared when he was singing the rest of the song. Calm down, people. Every band isn't perfect. Love Nightwish because they still make great music. A vocalist isn't everything >.> Get over it.

in short:
nightwish was playing in Mexico in 2000 and Tarja was attacked by a drunk fan. instead of helping her the "friendly bandmembers" simply moved away from her. Her husband (he guy that jumped right away to pull the dude away) knew her for 9 days back then. after the attack the guys kept playing and at the end tuomas makes a statement "we are not sure will Tarja come back to the stage". after the concert her husband stayed with her and the rest of the band left :/

Tarja went to the backstage and started to cry, she said that she was very shocked. Then, when Marcelo arrived, the guys told him to stay with her and comfort her. End of story.
That's very sad for Tarja, and that's very bad from the guys.

In fact, if you listen to the studio version of this song (which is FantasMic [3rd part]), you can hear two voices, both from Tarja. But as you know, she can't sing the two voices at the same time, so one of them is sung by Tarja, and the other one is the recorded one. That's why you can hear someone singing, it's the recorded voice of Tarja ;)
And yes, he tore her shirt, that stupid asshole. :(

You guys can get angry on the band now, but what do you think is gonna happen, if three/four bandmembers are trying to grab that guy, and he happens to have a knife along? You'll get bandly hurted, maybe dead bandmembers, shows that get cancled, or maybe shows that can't even get played anymore. And yes, this is realistic.
They rather handle this of the safest way. There just has to be one creep out there that can have bad idea's with them.

Sostengo mi discurso de que no sabemos si las leyes mexicanas los podían afectar por atacar a un mexicano (vaya que pueden salir con cual estupidez; considerando que el mexicano fue quien atacó primero, pero... eso es el mundo creo). NO OBSTANTE, bien pudieron dejar de tocar como fuera, eso debería de haber llamado mas la atención y además hubiese mostrado cierto compañerismo.

@Darkcountess Es tal cual dices. Eso es profesionalismo. El Staff estaba encargandose del incidente que no fue de una gravedad como para que inmediatamente soltaran los instrumentos por el aire. Es decir: Esto no debiera suceder jamas, lo que el fan hizo estuvo muy mal, pero de todos modos no revestia de gravedad como para que el resto de la banda deje de tocar. Estuvo muy bien lo que hicieron sus compañeros de banda.

Thank god Marcelo was there. Tarja would have been raped before the band would have even started thinking about doing something.( I mean, helloo?!?! Tuomas and the bassist were standing right next to her!) And afterwards, they asked Marcelo to comfort her, while they went to do something else. I think Tarja never was anything else but a singer to them.

Instead of blaming the band for not knowing what to do fans should blame the guy that went on the stage, and the security who did nothing. Threy are the ones to blame. It;s not the bands roll to handle off this kind of occasions. The security should do that.

That they didn't go to Tarja afterwards I don't understand either, but I don't think it was to just drink a beer... This is just as in the situation when Anette left the stage (although it was not because of this reason of course), but fans always seem to want to blame somebody, and in this case it's the band who has to pay. Like I said before, you don't know what to do in this kind of occasions. I think if it would have happened outside a gig, they would have helped Tarja.

I don't blame the band. In situations like this you just don't know what to do, let the secrurity handle this, or interfere yourself? Something like this happens in seconds. You just hope the security comes up the stage any moment, while you try to finish the song. It's at least how I think about it. They decided to stay professional, and to at least finish the song, and to leave the stage in a propper way, instead of just walking away in the middle of the song.

I am deeply sorry for Tarja, whatever happened there (I can't really see it, actually). But to be honest, in the darkness there with the flickering lightshow and the loud music, the guys probably didn't realize what was happening, and then it was over so quickly. I don't think they had time to react.
