If these things are not exposed, then "bad hackers" will keep the secret to themselves and use it for evil. Its the same thing with Wikileaks - by exposing all the security flaws to the public it forces the people in charge of security to step it up. This is why open source software is often many times more secure than private software.

The only difference is now, you and other people know about it and know how to use it, how it works. Eventually, with this information, someone much smarter than us will find a way to guard against this exploit, which will then be hacked again. And so the cycle repeats.
