  • why the hell do you have 2 tiny plastic babies?

  • I hate when pirate bay put gross photos on it

  • girls are not chicks ok?

  • wait, if pirate bay is stealing then so is listening to music on youtube to, right? is theyre really a difference?cause i dont see one, but yet artists promote theyre music on here, and what about downloading music videos off of youtube? they havent made that illegal yet i dont understand, someone please explain

  • doesnt anyone even think for 1 second what the pirate bay turned into? the pirate bay turned into a front for pirates who sell illegal copies of top cds, dvds and games to STUPID people.

  • haha, i cant believe how many people think this is a total sin just to COPY music to your ipod. and why do they even give a flying fuck???

  • Music is art.

  • Because that is the reality. No company sells a single copy of their games. All sales have stopped due to pirating. If you're going to open your mouth, try to have something other than crap come out.

  • good video

  • the pirate bay doesn't excist any more!!

  • does thepirate bay have viruses

  • the way you carry yourself and talk is absolutely ridiculous and annoying, but you do make some good points. however, i cannot stand listening to you talk for enough time to finish this video. goodbye.

  • free Gottfrid Svartholm and Fredrik Neij( the pirate bay owners)

    support the open source movement!

copy and paste if you support freedom and equality

  • you do get sue if you take a picture you dugga dush, you probably never been to a museum

  • it is not steeling.. its copying not steeling ...

  • i love tpb dude thank you music is ART its sharing NOT STEELING thank you man

  • I disagree with the idea of the video. Unauthorized file sharing is most definitely illegal according to law. The problem is that the law existing has never and will never be a good reason to not do something.

We don't murder because we don't like the concept of murder. The law comes in response to people's hatred of murder. People still commit murder whether or not there's a law. Morality is determined by what a majority of people deem correct. Not whether there is a law in place.

  • according to law, but not to ethic.

You bone do your girlfriend hard, because you and she loves it. Not to hurt her ;)

  • In respect to this video, the pirate bay has been convicted, so unless their appeal will overturn the verdict, I expect the pirate bay to close their doors in due time. What's more is that this will be used as a precedent to deter others from doing the same act.

  • hey dude, i swedish, TPB ftw. i totaly agree with you, first of all copyright laws should be changed to keep up with the teknologi, i think artist should be able to get money from their work, and prove its their work, but record industries shouldnt get a single "cent" in your case i guess. If you look up the history about copyright laws it wasnt intendet too bee used like it is today. and its a human right to take part of kultur.

  • Let all of us in europe vote the pirate party

  • that guy is entirely missing the point. its not the fact that the thing you are taking is 'gone' its the fact that you are depriving the owner of money that is rightfully theirs. Regardless of whether it is 'art' or not, it is still peoples job. I remember seeing that about 90% of musicians earn less than twenty thousand pounds a year. If people like you steal music without buying, you are depriving them of what little income they have!

  • But if you're solely dependent on income from a band, then you're an idiot.

  • Most band are on really small labels. Most bands end up using there own money just to make a CD. I't now you're music. You did not put you're life into making it. You are stealing from bands who make very little if anything even from touring. You sir are the reason why someone like me does not want to start a band because. It's people like you that make it very hard to find CD's of bands I like because you steal there work they lose money and they say to hell with it and they stop making music.

  • @Epica124 I have a band on a label, we make a decent amount. People download our music, but I don't care because I know if they really enjoy it, then they'll purchase an available copy, which is what I myself do.

  • @xygni It doesn't mean they're an idiot! They put time, work, and effort into their music and do not deserve to be stolen from. Williamjaba has a very good point.

  • Maybe 90% of the musicians earn that little, because they are having a hard time getting into the "system", by getting a contract by one of the big companies?

Record companies are getting redundant. They need to change their strategy if they want to survive.

  • @williamjaba You dont know what you are talking about.

Why do Musicians get 2-3% of all incomings from an album?

  • @williamjaba A small town band once said: "We would rather have 100 people buy our music and 100,000 people listen to it than 100 people buy our music and 100 people listen to it."

  • Xygni, your exactly right. Anyone can sound good in a studio...it's the live performances that should make or break a band.

  • hell ya dude you got it man good shit torrent seeder for life

  • I don't care that you don't care

  • All very valid points, except...

You forgot about the chicks man. =(

  • You neglected to mention the other musicians who helped spearhead the Napster case and the fact that Metallica dropped the case.

  • It was Moreso Lars, than most of the band that started the whole Metallica Vs Napster thing.

  • This is true. And I have to say that recently they've eased up on being jerks about filesharing. The reality is that filesharing only impacts the top 10 percent of artists financially, and that 10 percent doesn't need the money anyway. I mean, I downloaded some Tool music, but if I hadn't, I wouldn't have bought the limited edition Lateralus vinyl or 2 t-shirts or DVDs or stickers. I've given them more money than the fraction the record company would have given them if I'd bought a CD.

  • Well, that's great that you use file-sharing this way xygni, but there are many people that don't. There are a lot of people that don't care about the artist at all and will take as much for free as they can. Usually people that listen to our kind of music (Rock and Alternative and stuff) will be like you and have respect for the artist. They just want to try out the music before they buy. Even I have done this before, but I have noticed that people that listen to music such as rap don't care.

  • DUDE If YOU got pissed at someone putting YOUR music on a torrent site you'd be a fucking hypocrite lol

  • ...But I wouldn't. I fully support people torrenting music, including mine.

  • That's my point... that's why I said LOL and didn't CALL you a hypocrite =P

  • NOBODY SUES DEAD PEOPLE!

  • 567.425348% agree with you

And yes... despite my name I hate Metallica as people, especially for being total pricks as far as digital downloads are concerned, although they seem to have completely changed their stance on it for some reason...

  • amen. you are very right about everything you said.

  • Very intelligent and thought provoking rant.

  • Thing is... Mr. Xygni (lol), how would you like it if you recorded a kick ass album, like it was the cure for cancer, it's that good. (So a great album, in a nutshell) Now imagine getting $15 dollars for it for each copy sold... If you share that, it's a butterfly effect. You get 1 000 000 000 fans, but you get only $15. Does that pay the rent? Nope! And I know that it's very hard not to, but it's not right. Hell, I've downloaded a few tracks, but it's not right to keep on using TPB.

  • If I had a kickass album... I'd make money from touring, from merchandise, and all sorts of other places. Not everyone pirates, either. Some people (like me) like to have their favorite music on different formats.

  • Ok, fair enough... But let's say you can't tour cause, well, your an average person. So you can't go on tour but you can sell your music, which is getting big... on The Pirate Bay, so after you strip away the money from concerts, you still have 1 000 000 000 fans, but only $15 dollars from that, and record companies only give you, I think it's around a dollar for each CD sold. (Greedy fuckers) So if someone buys merchandise for $25, you're eating on, around $5-$7. So always try to not use TPB.

  • Lets say i type in "universal music group" in the youtube search bar, and go over to their official channel here on youtube.

Then i watch the current video they've got up on their main page.

Am I stealing? no? But I must be, I havent paid for it, yet i'm watching and listening to it.

The video currently on their main page has over 600,000 views.

Does this mean that it if they had not posted that video, all those 600,000+ viewers would have gone out and bought it instead?

    hhmm..

    TBP FTW!!!

  • Are you suggesting that if you get 1 million fans on The Pirate Bay, not one of them will actually buy any music or merchandise from you? That's just ridiculous. Like I said, filesharing really only effects bands that already have a really strong fanbase who buys merchandise from them.

  • It's far fettched, but yes, even if some of them do buy music, you're still not getting much money... Anyway, good arguemnt, looking forward to the reviews! : )

  • And that's a load of crap. Filesharing hurts the small time bands who are on small labels. It hurts the bands that for the most part use there own money to foot a lot of there stuff. Try living it then you might see the other side.

  • From merchandise maybe. But from touring. HAHAHA Do you even know the costs that go into touring? Let me break it down. A) The band has to get paid. B) If you have a managre he/she has to get paid. C) Road crew has to be piad. D) The place you are playing at has to be paid. E) The people who work at the place have to be paid. F) There is also the fact that if only five people show up to you're show you will make jack and shit for that show and still have to make sure ever one is paid.

  • I quote everything you said Epica124 lets say your a musician that just relished your new cd I dont know your music if I download your music from a torrent site and I like it I let the world know that your music is the shit now that person gets your music .. my point is that people will never pay for something they dont like. people that like it will download it and buy it when they get the money or a chance thats what i do

  • And you have been steeling from me by not buying it. And I would stop making music because I have to you know be able to put food on the table and have a place to live. Here's a new flash for you not ever damn F-ing band in U2 some of them a very very very good but will never make it big becuase they are on a small label or put the albums out on there own.

  • again its not steeling and like I said i only download to see it I like it to see if its worth buying you get paid because I like your music :D...

I my self dont mess around with torrents but I do understand peoples point of view it sounds to me that your are a close mind it person that dont understands the idea of the internet .. watch the video again he explains it really good ....

  • It is steeling because you do not own the rights to the music. Did you write the lryics? No did you write the music? No did you put you're life and soul into the music? No you are take someone else hard work and saying it's ok to give it way for free. Why don't we just do that with ever thing else. Let's give away Bikes for free. Heaven forbid. People like you need to go back to economics 101 and learn about all the people that have to be paid. That's way there are very few music stores around.

  • Again, you miss the point.

  • So stealing is ok. :| I will be sure to let all those bands who want to some day make it big know that.

  • Copying music that is a few years old is ok, that's my opinion. If someone accuses me of accepting "stealing" or "crime" or some other ridiculously wide term, then I say they're just avoiding the discussion.

  • Oh so you are just going to keep stealing. Way to go.

  • Now you're not even trying... First of all: copyright infringement and stealing are TWO separate crimes. Second: I didn't claim to commit any of them.

  • When you illegal down load music that is STEALING.

  • No, it is not. It doesn't matter how many times you say it, it doesn't make it so.

  • When you illegal down load something or take something that does not belong to you that is called STEALING. Why don't I just come by where you live and take you're car with out asking. What do you call that? Just taking you're car out for a joy ride? NO it's STEALING.

  • No, you're wrong. It's not the same thing. People need to stop making that comparison.

The moment they do, then we can all start discussing whether or not pirating software is wrong or harmful, and if the copyright laws are reasonable or need to be changed.

  • You are taking what someone else worked on and not paying for it. That is called STEALING you dumb ass. If I walk into a store and just take something with out paying for it that's STEALING. What part of that don't you get?

  • I don't care if you believe in good or not but maybe this will help you get it

    You shall not STEAL.

  • Once again, copyright infringement and stealing is two separate crimes even if you insist on using CAPITAL LETTERS!

People who who mix them together are either ignorant or trying to avert attention from the topic. That's my story and I'm sticking to it. Thank you, and good night!

  • You are taking something that someone else worked on and illegal downloading. That is STEALING. What do you think that copyright laws are there for you ass. It's to keep people like you from STEALING. Which you do any ways because you seem to think you should get ever thing for free.

  • Comment removed

  • Wrong again. Copyright laws are there to keep you from commiting copyright infringement, not stealing. Is that really so hard to understand? Oh, and by the way: I do NOT steal, illegally download or think you should get everything for free. You were wrong about that too. You're the ass.

  • Yet you keep showing you're support for a site that is for illegal down loads.

  • Well, I have an opinion that isn't in par with current copyright laws. That is why I'm part of a political movement working to change those laws, because we think they create more problems than they prevent. We recently made it into the european parliament.

  • @Epica124 what makes it illegal though?

  • Did I ever claim to write the lyrics? Did I claim to write the music or put "life and soul" into the music? No. I simply downloaded it. Digital files and physical items are NOT the same thing. NO ONE can own 0s and 1s. And if you don't think so then they have brainwashed you well.

  • The people who in put the 0s and 1s for the music own them. Stopping taking music that dose not belong to you. Stop illegal downloading music that does not belong to you. Either go out and buy it or stop illegal downloading it you theif.

  • In other words it costs a lot of fucking money to go on tour and unless you are U2 or Aerosmith you are out a lot of money jack.

  • I rely on the pirate bay for EVRYTHING! Metallica is WAY too greedy...

  • I suppose it's their right to want people to pay for their music, but they just didn't have to be such dicks about it. Being the respectful person I am, I bought Death Magnetic on both CD and vinyl, because I love Metallica enough to forgive them. :D

  • Song in the background?

  • In this order:

    Makedamndure - Taking Back Sunday

Rock & Roll Hoochie Koo - Rick Derringer

Road Trippin' - Red Hot Chili Peppers

    Voodoo - Godsmack

With Teeth - Nine Inch Nails

    The Word - The Beatles

  • TPB sucks anyway, demonoid ftw

  • dont they make more money off touring anyways?O_O

  • And T-Shirts and other merchandise.

  • What type of cookie?

  • The best type.

  • Piratebay rules, and I didn't know they were in a lawsuit right now.

You're completely right in every way about torrenting music, but unfortunately Piratebay has more than just music. Downloading programs is definitely bad, and Piratebay has a lot of programs to download. With that factor, there is a good chance that they can lose this lawsuit if they decide to go that route. I didn't really read up on the link you have there, so I don't exactly know all the facts, but I hope Piratebay wins.

  • That IS very true. Hopefully they'll at least make it out with their music torrents intact, though.

  • Honestly, TPB better fucking win.

  • i knew u were going to say it metallica rules bitch lol

  • I'm Swedish so I'm kinda commited to what happens to Piratebay.

Worst of this is that recently a new law has appeared in Sweden called IPRED that gives all bigger companies the ability to check all outgoing ip-traffic, that way everyone downloading something "owned" by a bigger company will eventually, when caught, get a big fat bill in their mail. And on top of that we have a new law called FRA that gives the government the ability to track every communication between people.

  • god I completely agree. I had no clue they were in court. Why all of a sudden?

  • Hell yeah! Go TPB!

  • first view!!!
