You got it backwards. The emulator is legal because it doesn't contain code that was copyrighted. The roms are illegal, because they contain copyrighted code.
Not sure if or why this one is called a black sheep, but FFII is called that because of it's unorthodox levelling system. It's been heavily criticised but I like it. =)

@midnafan132 I agree, I may have only played the DS version I prefer this one over the newer one. It sounds a whole lot more like a boss theme.
