i loved reading the book in my lit class, i thought it was so interesting, the whole corrolation between the russian revolution. we're starting on 1984, i'm VERY excited :)
Animal farm is supposed to be a satire book and each animal resembles to someone in the Russian revolution, I recently had to read the book at school and do an essay about Old Major and Napoleon :P
By the way, there has been no mention of Clover the Horse yet, is she in this film?
This film came out in 1954. In '50, the CIA trained Tibetans to attack China. In '53, the CIA overthrew the democratic government of Mossadegh in Iran. In '54, the CIA overthrew the democratic government of Jacobo Guzmán in Guatemala. In '54, the US refused to support free elections in Viet Nam at the Geneva Convention
This US puppeteering was only a small part of the over 50 incidents of anti-democratic interference & attacks on nations worldwide to the present day. Full list on Anarchopedia
@Themsthebreaks1 It is and it isn't against communism: it was a commentary against Leninism and Stalinism, both of which were ultraconservative, rightwing, autocratic regimes that espoused equality as an ideal but ultimately practiced militaristic industrialism.
moses was the black crow you saw at the start, they must have cut mollie and clover out, I love this its one of my favorite books ever. I'm going to see this at the mercury

this movie is good. i had no idea that it was made into a movie! how freaky. i somehow knew it was animated! lol and i love the narration. it makes me not fall asleep. lolz again who agrees? :)
This book is not actually anti-communist, it is pro communist. Orwell was a socialist and pro-communist. He disliked Stalin and his oppressive policies, Stalin was Totalitarian which went against his Socialist ways.
@100CommonCents Google it :) I'm afraid it's not in any book, which is a shame, but several different websites (not Wikipedia) confirm it. Apparently the rights of the film were sold by his widow after his death, so I'm guessing he didn't want it to happen whilst he was alive...
@curlzferrero XD Orwell was a Democratic Socialist, which is closer to communist than capitolist by far. They obviously didn't realize that his point was to question your leaders and to not let them become corrupt. Orwell looks on Snowball (Trotsky and Lenin) in a light of honor, but is disgusted with Nepoleon (Stalin) for his abuse of power. They changed alot from the book to this movie...
Has anyone out there seen the "Hotel For Dogs" movie? They did not only change the story line from the book, they bent it into a pretzel! The "First Wives' Club" was another one in which the movie was pretty different from the book.
George Orwell was a good Marxist, but unfortunately he was born in wrong time :(
