If it helps the original song is in the key of E. The first part is a I V7 progression repeated than it jumps to a IV II V vi7 V.
In other words Emaj-Bmaj7 repeat
Amaj Fmaj Bmaj Cm7 Bmaj back to the top.
He just transposed the song to the key of C.
