I knew you weren't gonna have 300lbs hanging between your legs. I can do 8 dips with 100 lbs plus my 210lbs BW. Youre awesome though no doubt about that
@TheHardTruth101 Martin's pretty tall, man -- around 6'2" and ripped. of course u probably know that muscle is 3x as dense as fat. so, being lean, he's gonna be heavier than he looks. I am 220 and people think i'm like 195.
@efisgpr ok the height explains why he looks smaller than what he is. and i agree with you, muscle is more dense than fat. however, i disagree that when you are lean, you look "smaller" than you weigh. from my understanding, when you are lean, (and muscular), that you look "bigger" than you weigh. i'm 185lbs LEAN, solid, but guys don't believe me when i say i'm 185lbs. they call me a lie and say i'm 200lbs EASY. one guy said i look about 215. this is ALL the time!!
@TheHardTruth101 well the opposite happens "ALL the time" to me and every guy I know with a lean PROPORTIONATE physiques. Your legs must not match your upper body. Those are the guys who disagree with this "ALL the time" because they hear the opposite. Now, if they wore shorts every day, sure, they wouldn't get that.....but most don't. Class dismissed.
@TheHardTruth101 So, let me get this straight, you see a video of a man who's 200 & ripped, and say "175 TOPS!!!!!!!!!" about his weight then say THIS:
"when you are lean, (and muscular), that you look "bigger" than you weigh"
COULDN'T BE MORE WRONG.
According to you, a guy is fat and 200 do people routinely tell him "oh no u totally look 170!!"
Bullshit.
Way to TOTALLY contradict yourself, bro. Just stop.
@efisgpr yes when you are lean and MUSCULAR, you look like you weigh more than you do!! This is not just my opinion, but the opinion of experts in the field, as well as many bodybuilders that i know. They ALL look bigger than they weigh... PERIOD! 200lbs on a 6'2 frame is little, and explains why the guy in this video looks little... PERIOD! I'm 185lbs RIPPED, and i'm only about 5'8. People tell me ALL the time that i look AT LEAST 200 lbs and above... PERIOD!!
@TheHardTruth101 So, since ripped guys look so much heavier why did you think the ripped guy in the video looks like he's 175? I know why. Cuz you're wrong. You even disproved it yourself.
@efisgpr Dude! Seriously! Can you read???! The guy in this video looks like he's 175, because he's 6'2. 200 lbs is small for his height, i don't care how RIPPED he is. Now if he was say 5'10 at the same weight, he'd look at LOT bigger. What part of that don't you GET???! My 17 y/o little brother understands this. You must be 16 lol
@TheHardTruth101 Also, I suppose you did not notice, but you have to consider that the camera is high up. For instance, it's looking down on the shoulder pads of the standing calf raise machine. Also, it depends on where it's carried most. If it's largely in the upper body, they may rate you bigger as it's hard not to notice. That's one reason people may have guessed you heavier.
Besides, if what you say is true, you wouldn't have grossly underestimated Martin's weight.
i think whats being said is he is 200 lbs.. and 100 lb dumbbell making it 300 lbs.. this is the equivalent of hanging upside down by your feet and pushing up 300 lbs of weight..
@poopadoxlol bro, are you serious?? Your arms aren't extra weight when your benching, when you do dips your whole body is extra weight. A weak skinny kid that weighs 150 could do 5 dips with a 25 pounds weight attached. Then a strong fat kid comes along that weighs 280 but he can only do 1 dip with no weight attached. Who's stronger? The fat kid or skinny kid?
@23eirish So you are saying that if a 300lb guy squats 800lbs he is squatting 1100lbs? You are making no sense. You NEVER in ANY exercise inform your own weight into the total.
@tehl33t666 No, because in that exercise you're not lifting your own BW. Take 2 people, 1 person weighs 150 pounds and the other 250 pounds and there both just as strong. Who will be able to do more pull ups or even dips? One of my fat friends goes to the gym and he does skull crushers with 90LBS and curl a 100LB bar, but he cant even do one dip or pull up
@23eirish You ARE lifting your own bodyweight in squat, but it is never taken into the count when announcing the total weight. I don't understand where you are trying to go with that "fat guy vs. skinny guy" referance. If they both are equally strong then the fat guy will ofcourse be in a disadvantage in exercises with require your own bw also.
@tehl33t666 In squats your not lifting your whole body weight, your lifting the upper body and the barbell with your legs. Dips and pull ups your lifting your whole body. You put your body weight plus the weight added when you do pull ups and dips because your lifting your body weight and extra weight added. And exactly, because the fat guy is lifting more weight. And I know when you do dips you say I did 100lbs + BW. But either way its still a 300lb Dip
Yes that is how muscle works it gets torn and when u eat protien AFTER your workout it rebuilds itself to a bigger muscle. Now no ur not going to be rebuilding like pounds of muscle everyday if thats what ur thinking
do dips work more upper or lower chest? and i dont want answeres from people who dont know this answere, because i seen a magazine once that said one of the best exercises for upper chest is dips, it just seems to me that lower chest would get hit more than upper
@fffaaabian yea it actually does work the lower chest more depending on the angle. if u lean forward alil, it will work ur lower chest but if u do it completely straight, it will place more emphasis on ur triceps. dips is pretty much an extreme decline bench press (which works out ur lower chest)
um. thats not true at all. im 190 lbs solid . i can dummbell curl the 110;s and i flat bench 365 no spot no lift off. i have 19 in arms. ive been with fellow friends and weight lifters and a few are about 250 or more and work out just as hard as i do and a couple of them do the juice and there nowhere near me on the strenth but they have large muscular arms. hanging tris and flat biceps and big big massive chests but they struggle more with 315 than i do with 50 extra pounds on the bar.
so size doesnt cleary mean strength. look at the 160 lb powerlifters who bength 300 or more pounds and there size is way smaller than there strength ratio.
so explain a little better to these nice youtube folks how when u lift a weight u break down those muscle fibers so that when the heal and rebuild they can now support that weight easier and easier so as to allow u to keep increasing the payload and demand on them and they will keep regrowing larger and capable of more strength as time and resistence progresses.
I knew you weren't gonna have 300lbs hanging between your legs. I can do 8 dips with 100 lbs plus my 210lbs BW. Youre awesome though no doubt about that
