  • @CaptainBas Never too late to start strengthening your body. Around your teens is the best time to start but there is no cutoff point, just the earlier the better.

    Im not sure about Kick Boxing but my dad is 51 and he has recently got his black belt in Tae Kwon Do just like me :) He has now got an improved flexibility even at his age (or he thinks he has) :D but anyway I would say yes go for it! He was stiff and all but its has got better. :) hope im not 3 weeks to late :D

  • High kicks only work in a street fight if they are unexpected. If someone sees it coming your in trouble. One good shot to the inside of the supporting knee and you won't be doing anymore kicking for awhile. You might meet up with somone who has a knife and WILL cut your legs if you don't knock'em out with the first kick. I like the part about pivioting your foot that helps you turn over your hip for max force. But you do need to know more than just TAEKWONDO to survive a real fight.

  • At first glance I was thinking he forgot about turning his hip over. But the foot pivot at the end helps. Bad thing about learning TaeKwonDo as your first and only art is in a real street fight you go with what you know. I have seen to many guys get low kicked to the inside of the knee . 'BAM" down they go...never seen anyone keep fighting after that execpt in the movies. Or couple of times I have seen people get their legs cut or hit with a hammer. High kicks only work if they are unexpected.

  • @growtallernaturally Lol why grow taller if you want to use the side kick effectively? Side kicks are better for little people keeping taller people off them. This is simple Body mechanics. Taller people need more space and take alittle longer to get their spider legs out there. That said, We have powerful leg kicks (usually stronger than the rest due to our long, lean leg size) and just need to jab to keep the little guy guessing whats next lol.

  • @paolo665 You don't need splits to do a high kick. Sure, it will make your muscles looser and more agile. But you still need the strenght to get up there...

  • @solidwingtsunkid yes taekwondo does a lot of techniques during practise in horse stance, but its not as emphasized as most chinese martial arts

  • Ive been doing Taekwondo for 2 months now, and whenever i throw a side kick, i just get pain in my hip on the opposite side. Is this normal and will this pain eventually go?

  • YEs, MAKE SURE you are rotating the opposite foot of your kicking leg, Normal but make sure ur not hurting your self
