He had to use Glalie,Squirtle,Bulbasaur,Bayleef or Sceptile to fight against Excadrill, because ice,water and grass pokemon are strong against ground pokemon.
Snivy and Oshawott are to weak at the moment to win from Excadrilll, and Totodile also not, he is weak to.

@Ghuntu1 The people are the same shit so they think game and anime are same thing too. My opinion is: Pikachu must learn Volt Tackle again because it's the only pokemon who can learn it and it's an amazing move, and Swift to stay better against Ground-type and Electric-type foe's for example.

Is it just me or do you think Iris is really annoying . I'd like if Paul was is this season and Misty and max came back ( Max would probably be a trainer now ) . It would be epic cause I just don't like Cilan and Iris as much as Brock , Misty , May , Max and Dawn . Also it would be epic is red came and told ash that he has alot to learn if he's gonna become a pokemon trainer and ash battles red only for red to use like only one pokemon . I wonder if anyone actually watched this episode. Ash did not know that Iris was going to use Excadrill and the ONLY reason he used Thunderbolt against it is because he said they were just warming up. Besides, the battle was fucking awesome and Pikachu was so close to winning. So please, shut your mouth you idiots who don't know what they're talking about.
Also, Iris had Excadrill since he was still a Drilbur.

Saying " I'm just warming up " is a simply stupid excuse to use when a person like Ash, who has gone on a HUGE journey, fails. And if you thought this battle was " fucking awesome ", you clearly haven't seen ANY other seasons of pokemon, A.K.A the seaons before the script writers began pissing on their papers.

@ry91boo I miss Lapras but I am happy I have seen Lapras has grown up to an adult and is now the leader of his team as it was seen in the sinnoh saga. I miss Pidgeot and Primeape. Ash promised to get them back. Ash did go back to Kanto 3-4 times by then and he did not aksed for any of them. I miss squirtle and charizard. I miss bulbasaur. I miss Muk. I miss tauros. I miss Kingler. Ash does not even remember they exist.
