  • brilliant

  • you make it look easy..thanks for sharing

  • Yep that's it! I actually couldn't believe that it was on there.....very dope! It goes to show that it doesn't have to be name brand to have some cool features.....

  • track 50 on the keyboard? vocal groove

  • are you left handed? i play open handed left like you. it pleases me to see people killin it this way. keep up the good work.

  • @sh4ne Sure am lol! All the lefties stand up lol!!

  • Nice man!

  • thanks so much for this man, I get what your doing and its opened massive doors for my playing!

  • who bit your cymbal?

  • @MrSamyool Those darn cymbal mites get me everytime lol!

  • @MrSamyool lol

  • whats the pattern of that fill you keep playing..?

  • crazy !!

  • can u slow it down? it's cool bro,but i don't know how to do it,would u tell me how's the lick? thx before..

  • Real lovely relaxed action....great job...thanks for posting!

  • that was really sweet man!

Glad to see other men of God putting their musical talents to good use!

    for the glory of Him

  • I have listened the video three times now. But what I don't get: Is there a another track played? It's like I hear the regular hi hat, and see you play another hi hat pattern with the accents? Bit confused here....It's also hard to tell because you did a fade in with the sound at the start. Please help out this confused Dutchman :)

  • @DWINC ah...I was so amazed I skipped the last 2 seconds where I could hear the backing track. I have listened to the songs on your website. What kind of snare and skins do you use?

  • dude...you got some talent. Do you only play gospel or also other styles? Keep drumming! :)

  • sick

  • is someone beatboxing in the background?

  • Dude this video is making me want to play gospel music and im a rock drummer person! This is sick! Your great man keep it up!

  • nice dude! Its true about what you say about music. No competition. We are all in the same boat.

  • you're amasing dude!

    keep it up!

  • damn

  • tu peux faire le vidéo en expliquent comment tu fais ça?

  • What resources are aviable to be able to learn to play like this? Im a newbie drummer

  • Dude u need to find a church wit beast drummers.

  • just learn the basics stuff! practice single and double rolls and just independat co-ordination and you'll get it eventually!

  • I agree with benturki, learn the basics first, and try and concentrate on single and double strokes, paradiddles, and triplets...then work on applying them to the drumset.

  • @mrmcgill what about paradiddle-diddles and flams?

  • @ImaFez Yessir brother!! Flams are like a lost art, so effective! And paradiddle-diddles are one of Spanky's favorite rudiments to play.....keep pushin!

  • @Gyang79 practice basics and rudiments, put those into drumrolls and variate.

  • @Gyang79 pratice

  • @rollinfever15 thanks for stating the obvious sherlocke! That is why is asked for resources so I could practice.

  • @Gyang79 yah sure thing anytime bro

  • I never understood why people Got so much against God i mean its just like if dont like him okay leave it like that dont crap talk Him

  • Actually he really is,

better than alot of drummers on here anyway. (not saying that they are bad, they are awesome too)

And actually he does drum professionally.

His name's Rob, he's gonna be putting some vids on soon so you can see for yourself.

Are you trying to say that "god" is the reason these people can drum well?

Forgive me, but it sounds ignorant on your part there..

  • great sounding stuff

  • gospel drummers rules!!! [real gospel chops from philippines here!!!!]--mackey villegas!!!

  • Guys, why all the competition? I cant wait for the day when everyone stops worrying about who's the best, the best genre is...blah blah blah! I think a true musician worries about playing the best thing I can for this song, not if the style im playing is the best or not! If you have that much time to talk negative on your hands...you could be practicing lol!

  • dude ur right its so nstupid to have a pissing match just do wat you do the best you can, but that said gospel drummers always blow me away. rock on bro

  • or seeking the heart of God! You rock man...

  • @mrmcgill Love the Spirit and wisdom behind this comment bro! I'm getting back into practice on the keys and all I'm focusing on is being the best at what God has me doing at the moment. There's so much to learn out there, that focusing on it all gets in the way of our progress sometimes...your words were really settling! May God continue to bless you doc!

  • @mrmcgill Agreed.

  • @mrmcgill (I know it's been 10 months since you made your comment)...thank you for addressing the "Who's the Best/Better Drummer?" issue - it's contribution, not competition...I'm a musician, and I enjoy music - and being the best is not my goal...I can think of songs with simplistic drumming and simple fills that sound nice...

phenomenal skills have their place, but musicianship can involve sensitivity: when, what and how to play...God's blessings upon you...

  • @mrmcgill

True :) Many people are like animals, they just can`t live without competition

  • @mrmcgill That, sir, is the difference between musicians who are in it for the fame, and musicians who are in it for the music.

    Well said.

  • well . . . . every drumming has its advantage, gospel drumming is NOT the best ! they all are really good, i hope ppl start to learn other styles of drumming to see the strengths of each kind, all gospel drummers have similar fills, whitch is the downside! all his fills sounded similar ! but its cool for me to use such a fill in some cases and not all ! ! !

  • of course gospel drumming might not be the best, but it has been proven that a lot of old and modern licks have derived from gospel style drumming and that if you can play gospel, you can play any other style...or they will be easier to learn at least. i take it your not a gospel drummer lol

  • i heard that type of thing about jazz...so..now which is it???lol

  • id go with jazz. haha.

also from my experience i think of all styles the trickiest to pick up on is latin. ... none the less, gospel is some sick stuff and maybe the most fun :)! ya all know what the best is tho... when you can play all styles and form your own individual one

  • amen lol

to me latin comes pretty easy, still gotta learn jazz though! haha

  • @jzchambo65 i think latin n it's rawest form is actually one of the hardest 2 learn. all ur limbs r doin complex rhythmns @ once n most cases. watch some great latin drummers and you'll c wut i mean. jazz is way up there as well

  • Yea man I know what you mean I know a lot of latin type grooves but when it comes to afrocuban, I need to learn more independence like I wanna be able to play a mambo while playing a clave with my left foot lol, but to me ja independence is harder than latin ineependence, but yea latin independence can get pretty crazy like horacio el negro does it lol

  • nice style (:

  • HE's A LEFTY!!!! coo!

  • i'd be very glad if u would break down the lick that u play 2 times from secon 45 on to 55 if u mind sharing it...i just dont get that one

  • gospel drummers are the most amazing in my opinion. they're really underplayed but when it comes to fills, they blow EVERYONE out of the water

  • exactly my friend :-)....but what u call underplayed is in my opinion a very nice way of grooving if u know what i mean

  • haha i knew someone would take it that way. i should've said underestimated, that was my bad. they are insane drummers and are in no way underplayed

  • ;-)

  • He may not be smiling but he sure made me smile in appreciation for his control and skill. Man he is relaxed as can be. This is something every musician should strive for. Nice work mate.

  • ya i was in d-line for four years....so i cant smile when i play even if i want to lol

  • some drummers just dont smile...especially if they were ever in drumline

i never smile when i play.....cause i was in drumline lol

  • seriously I dont either unless someone does something to make me laugh. I think it's because I was in drumline for a year before i started playing set

  • NOT HARD

  • dude awesome drummng i can play too

  • man.. u looked like someone forced u to play the drums all ur life.. like.. put a smile on ur face or like idk.. look any other way but sad lol cuz u look like ur not enjoyin it.. i hope u r :) anyway..good job :)

  • i loved that! please do break this down. also - no idea why people are dissing the kit, i love these vids where the sound is just like you would hear in the room, i think it sounds great :D

  • wow, man your amazing

  • set sounds TERRIBLE

  • amazing job man i really enjoyed, love the modesty as well. Ive been drumming for around 5 years and am tempted to quit when watching you play great pocket and unbelievable feel. Thanks for posting

  • can you break it down please

  • im open handed to cool

  • i would really like you to break some of these down for me

  • somebody get this guy a better drum set

  • Open handed playing that is way to do it I play open handed I love it! Good Stuff!!!!!!

  • i love your open handed playing dude...thats something that ive been working on because it seem extremely useful....i wish i had your skills!

  • Thanks so much! I'm just a vessel that God is using to work His gifts through... I'm trying to get an instructional video up, but every time I shoot it either the sound or the picture is bad. I am working on it though!! Be sure to check out my newest video in the video response column. Thanks and be blessed!!

  • I see you Bra!

    1God 1Luv

  • I can do a video for you guys explaning the patterns broken down and playing some examples if you guys want, just let me know! God bless!

  • that would be awesome.

ps. i thought the video was great, you're a very good player.

  • Hey mrmcgill blessings to you my brother. I AM keen for a video breakdown of some of the patterns that you use, I know that others would be too. Eagerly awaiting your vid brada - keep up the GOD work.. God bless

  • It's all basically triplet based with an emphasis on the 2nd beat(tri-PEL-et). The way I explain it to most people is by the actual strokes in the pattern; almost like a fraction. The left side of the fraction are alternating hand strokes-rl or rlr or rlrl etc. the right side is the bass drum note-1,2,or 3. So with saying all of that, most of these are either 2/1(right left foot in a triplet feel) or 3/1(right left right foot in a 16th note feel).

  • very nice! i can hear the groove but i want to know the basic of this kind of fills.... its like moller or something or its the bass drum used 2 develop speed? waiting for an answer

    thx

  • the first groove and first fill sounded sooo good. great video altogether.
