Make player move in Gamemaker TESTED

i am making a game on gamemaker and my teacher is going to show case it. However there is a problem. when i use these controls the players will stick and not move fluently and since i want to have multiplayer i can't use no key because if player 2 doesn't release their key player 1 keeps moving. can someone give me a control scheme that will work for 2 players that moves fluently and doesn't make you keep moving.

then if you press another putton like jump, it will keep moving

to get down when you jump, drag and drop Gravity to press key: up, and type 0.5

Relative off.

To let monsters attack with fireballs or things,

Drag and drop create instance. then, in that action, drag and drop chance (dice icon) and type how much it would attack. 30= Very often

100= sometimes
