then the flight engineer shut down an engine on the take off roll which is against operating procedures and he also shut the wrong one down, then the number 1 shut down causing it to fall out of the sky. there were many things that caused this disaster, the strip of continental engine was just a small bit, the tyre makrs on the runway showed it was going to stray off the runway before it hit the metal.
you are all wrong, watch Concorde the anatomy of a disaster. the piece of engine cowling that fell of the continental plane was just the tip of the iceberg, mainly an Air France cover up. Absolutely nothing to do with a fault with Concorde, It was over full on fuel, over full with passengers bags, took off with a tail wind, had one of the wheels fitted incorrectly effectively making it like controlling a dodgy shopping trolley at 250 mph,
i load my BOAC concorde up with fuel..than add another 200 thousand pounds in payload..and i call it fuel...and the damn thing still flies..so i can fly london to new zealand easy!
Concorde-X- FlightSimLabs. For FSX Has excellent tutorial. The metal on runway did cut the tyres but was not the main reason for crash, more likely poor maintenance, where a spacer was left off one of the bogey assemblies, thus causing the wheels to wobble. Witnesses say the engines were ON FIRE BEFORE the plane reached the spot where the piece of metal lay on the runway. It was because of the lack of wheel spacers that the plane veered leftwards- witness the tyre tracks left on the concrete.
Actually, it was that it was too loud, too old, hard for maintenance-Airbus didn't want to produce the parts anymore, the aircraft ate something like 12.3 litres a second. The crash and 9/11 only accelerated the retirement of the concorde. The crash also just showed problems with the concorde.
@DRFTR566 No it is not free. It costs nearly $75. I strongly advise against actually placing this add on to your computer because it was the reason my hard drive crashed. I lost everything, I had to replace the hard drive. Very dissapointing. Ended up costing me significantly equating to purchasing the retail price of "Concorde X" of atleast 10 times.
Okay peoples....forget what the guy said...the concorde is an awsome aircraft in game, yes they don't run anymore but its availble for the game and you can fly it. Everyone happy? No? Fuck off then.
@MrAirforce12345 yes it is, but the SR-71 was a US spy plane used in the 1970s built for the cold war, but it was mainly a waste of money and they put it out of service mainly due to the same reasons as concorde
lol, it's quite easy to handle in the game but it's just too bloody loud. Sometimes I forgot to turn down my earphone the loud engine sounds just blasted my ear deaf when the game starts...
There are only three machine in the FS2004 really good is the PSS, Altitude, and SSTSIM Concorde soon for FSX they are in the process. As freeware, there is the MACH2 Project from FSFRANCE what to recommend. But as far as I know they support the project. Why I do not know
Nice vid, but a slight clarification. The piece of metal wasn't from Concord itself. It was a 17 inch piece of metal that fell from a Continental Airlines DC-10 that took off before it. The metal punctured the tires and the chunks of rubber from the tires hit the fuel tanks(or line) near the engine. Hence the famous picture of fire trailing the Concord.
More like what are you jabbering on about. If you are referring to the Paris crash, it happened on takeoff. And the demise of concorde happened because of many reasons. As fiesta471 pointed out, it was un-economical, plus all the rich folk found something else to fly on...their own business jet. If no tickets are sold, then there is no money to be made for the upkeep of an aircraft. No rich folk = no money from tickets, therefore no money to keep the plane flying.
@FlightSimXYZ No he's partially right. They were taken out of service because of that one crash, which wasn't on final, it was just after takeoff. Yes, that was one of the factors. Another one was that the September 11 attacks made every airline lose money, and another was that the fuel prices were too high. So instead of replying to these three comments with patronising crap, I first think that you should be less of an idiot, grow up and look stuff up.
@FlightSimXYZ i think it was just after takeoff when the engine on the cocorde blew up! all of that was caused by a piece of metal on the runway from a previous landing.
@FlightSimXYZ Possibly the most bollocks I have ever seen on YouTube ever!! I just watched a programme about it, the main reason was a peice of landing gear from a DC-10 at Charles de Gaule airport in the year 2000 on takeoff, the last Concorde flight was in 2003 from JFK to Heathrow. If you have any sense, i'd watch the programme, thats if you live in the UK,its on 4 on demand.
no, it was a piece from the thrust reverser off a dc-10, but concorde did not have a wheel spacer on that particular takeoff, you are not entirely true, my friend...
@FlightSimXYZ The concorde was retired because they didn't have the money to keep flying... After the exploded one they kept flying, till it wasn't that cheap anymore :(
@FlightSimXYZ Get your facts straihgt. It was on take off when a piece of metal from a DC-10 (worst airliner ever to fly) punctured a tire causing a chain of events that lead to an engine fire. It didnt "blow up", it crashed. You sound like a 10 year old..."because one of them blew up on final". Give me a break.
@FlightSimXYZ If it were because it blew up on final, many other aircraft would be out of commision as well. fiesta is correct. I understand that this was posted 2 years ago, so you may have figured it out by now, but just saying
@fiesta471 Yay, gas may just reach $100,000 for aircraft fuel. Where I live unleaded gas is about to reach $4.00 a gallon. I cant imagine what aircraft fuel must cost but I am sure it is much more then $4.00 a gallon.
@fiesta471 no the last flight was in 2003 and the reason was that the concorde had an engine failiure and caught fire and crashed into a hotel in France... get your facts right
@fiesta471 You sir are completely wrong at any fact you just stated. Last flight was 23rd october 2003 when 3 planes landed in sequence at Heathrow. Engines weren´t un-economical, in fact concord had the most efficient jet engine in the world at mach 2. Problem wasn´t crash itself, problem was 9/11 WTC accident where died most regular customers and bosses that were sending their employees on Concorde. If you want to correct some1, get your facts right at first place.

I don't think it's FSX, just flight made their concorde for FS9. If anyone happens to know where to get a good FSX concorde, could you let me know?
