Pacquiao has worse footwork than Gatti and seems one dimensional. There is no way Pacquiao is going to beat Mayweather when Marquez exposed him easily by punching and moving to the side.

@wuspopNmane Granted a "slow" Floyd Mayweather is still too fast for pretty much everyone, but to me he was pot shotting a lot more than throwing combos, he also stays on his feet a lot more and doesn't move around as much (which as you said at first might just be experience).
He was easily in control of the Ortiz bout, and was a sure bet to win it, but he wasn't destroying him (of course only 4 rounds, if the fight carried on Ortiz would've ended with nothing left).
He's even more technically sound today but he's nowhere near as aggressive and flashy as he used to be. 7 years ago Floyd was not only defensively great, but he was an offensive MONSTER.
He relaxes in the ring way more today than back then, lets the guy come to him. Not as spectacular but just as effective.

@sevach You have to remember that he's fighting at a higher weight than he was back then. This fight was at 140, Floyd came in at 139, that's a whole 11lb difference between him and the Floyd that fought Ortiz. As far as foot speed goes Floyd really hasn't lost much speed there either, if you watch his fights with Marquez and Hatton. He just doesn't move around as much when fighting bigger fighters because they usually aren't fast enough to tag him when his feet are planted anyway.
@sevach I think he's still exciting, especially the way he opened up on Shane and then started throwing combinations against Ortiz. Floyd almost never does that in fights. I think he just fights smarter, but even against Marquez he did go at him pretty hard, he may not have tried to go at him like he did against Gatti but I think he just doesn't like to expend as much energy anymore.
I'm starting to think Pacquiao/Mayweather would be a disappointing match, but I'm waiting as well.

Gatti wasn't in Mayweather's league everyone knows that... he wasn't popular with fans because he was elite but because his fights were entertaining and he had the heart of a lion. I dont get how drug testing can make you turn down a chance to make your biggest pay day BY FAR. Well you make a good point... and for all i know maybe Pacquiao has used performance enhancers before. @wuspopNmane Granted a "slow" Floyd Mayweather is still too fast for pretty much everyone, but to me he was pot shotting a lot more than throwing combos, he also stays on his feet a lot more and doesn't move around as much (which as you said at first might just be experience).
He was easily in control of the Ortiz bout, and was a sure bet to win it, but he wasn't destroying him (of course only 4 rounds, if the fight carried on Ortiz would've ended with nothing left).

He's even more technically sound today but he's nowhere near as aggressive and flashy as he used to be. 7 years ago Floyd was not only defensively great, but he was an offensive MONSTER.
He relaxes in the ring way more today than back then, lets the guy come to him. Not as spectacular but just as effective.

@sevach You have to remember that he's fighting at a higher weight than he was back then. This fight was at 140, Floyd came in at 139, that's a whole 11lb difference between him and the Floyd that fought Ortiz. As far as foot speed goes Floyd really hasn't lost much speed there either, if you watch his fights with Marquez and Hatton. He just doesn't move around as much when fighting bigger fighters because they usually aren't fast enough to tag him when his feet are planted anyway.

You look at the Marquez fight and Floyd seems perfectly happy throwing one at a time and keep (easily) outpointing Marquez.

@sevach I think he's still exciting, especially the way he opened up on Shane and then started throwing combinations against Ortiz. Floyd almost never does that in fights. I think he just fights smarter, but even against Marquez he did go at him pretty hard, he may not have tried to go at him like he did against Gatti but I think he just doesn't like to expend as much energy anymore.
I'm starting to think Pacquiao/Mayweather would be a disappointing match, but I'm waiting as well.

I said sometimes... and many boxing fans would agree. Yes he's great but when you pay for a ticket you'd rather see a guy willing to take a few chances rather than a guy who is on his bicycle half the match... yes it's smart boxing but that doesn't make it the most fun to watch.
People have the same beef with Wladimir Klitschko... he's nasty but he boxes too cautiously sometimes and his fights just aren't as exciting as they could be if he took more chances.

I dont get how drug testing can make you turn down a chance to make your biggest pay day BY FAR. Mayweather makes far more money than Manny does so Manny is losing millions just to not have Random Blood Testing. Seems like Manny would have a bigger sense of urgency if he really wanted to fight and fight clean!

Well you make a good point... and for all i know maybe Pacquiao has used performance enhancers before. But it doesn't change the fact that Pacquiao agreed to drug tests and blood screening above and beyond what is required by boxing anti-doping regulations, technically going further than any fighter has ever had to, and yet Mayweather insists on re-writing the rules.
Testing prior to the fight, and DIRECTLY AFTER should be more than enough.
