It's not a fucking freebord or a flow board where it sways side to side easily...it's a long board, basically a long skateboard with bigger trucks and wheels, and the sliding they're doing is by distributing weight onto slide gloves and drifting. It's not taking ANYTHING away from any other type of skating ....why you have to hate on different styles of skate...should just be stoked for everyone to do their own thing

The difference in a long and short board is not the length but the shape and curve. A longboard does not have both a nose and tail curve, though some more recent styles have a tail. Though otherwise you were right, skateboarding was originally created by surfers, who wanted to "surf" without the water.
longboarding down hill seems boring but it is really fun to do it....you just glide along the road with hardly any effort....its relaxing to say the least
like my bad i wanst trying to sound like a dick. i just think it would get boring just bombing hills after a while. like with "popsicle sticks" you can do a shit load of tricks and build skill, and do different gaps, rails, stair sets, and also do like vert stuff. you just cant do that on a longboard.
