  • The BEST cover of this song - an absolute classic...

  • this guy died from auto-erotic asphyxiation =( that is really sad ffs

  • Instant LIKE and FAVORITE!

  • Best cover of The Lamia Ever!!! It made me cry... such a good performance, we miss you Kevin.... Nick D'Virgilio should be really proud on his performance here

  • I doubt bringing up S. C. name to every video of Kevin, we are honoring his memory.

  • Do you want a girlfriend?

  • this is quite moving. i don't know why. perhaps the band's love for the music comes through their performance

  • My dad knew Kevin personally,. He got the call the day he passed. I only got the chance to meet him once when i was about 5 years old. He sat there and showed me the whole scale on the piano. I look back now and wished i cherished it more. I know if i ever see Sheryl Crow in person i will shoot her in the face. No joke.

  • The guitar is spot on. The tone and attack are so faithful to Hackett's original. Very good version, indeed.

  • @LordFancourt Thank you sir. I've always counted Steve Hackett, Andy Latimer and Alex Lifeson as my biggest influences, so when Kevin invited me to play this gig it was a dream come true. I don't pretend to be half as good as any of those guys, but my own playing style and tone was so influenced by Hackett it came quite naturally for me to play these parts, and I did strive to be as faithful to the original as possible.

  • @rhayader0625 Hey great guitar playing, I have seen Steve Hacket many times, he's one of my favourite artists and you absolutely nailed it man. The lamb is one of may favourite albums and this track is just in another dimension in my opinion.

  • @davidmarksimpson Thanks David! We all relished the opportunity of playing The Lamb for such a perfect audience and poured our hearts into it. I still hear the rough edges but considering we only had 2 weeks to rehearse this I'm amazed it came off as well as it did. One of the proudest performances I've ever been a part of.

  • @ForgetaboutFreeman But artists need their muse to inspire them....but happens sometimes they choose the most evil ones...

  • That's great . Awesome!!!!!

  • That band is tight.

  • I have a copy of this on CD and have listened to it many, many times. Gilbert and the rest of the band do a great job. Thanks for posting this!

  • This is very good. Is that NDV on drums? His version of The Lamb Lies Down is also excellent! He has a better voice in my humble opinion.

  • " What could I have told you to make you think again? We draw the same conclusions but we choose a different end." Miss you much Kevin...

  • The musical Box band from Montreal... way better!! but hey..peter gabriel help them out to recreate The Lamb live...take a look you will see...i saw them 6 times...great musical and stage performance! Kevin R.I.P.

  • a lovely song of what i think was genesis's finest album...along with just about everybody who views these KG renditions i say GREATEST RESPECT for A TRUE STAR... RIP and god bless you kev....

  • @ognibandyrrah Indeed. Toy Matinee was a superb album, by Gilbert's Toy Matinee.

  • beautiful rendition and very sad knowing his fate

  • This is absolutely brilliant. Kevin was a genius. I would have loved to have seen what he would have done as Genesis' singer or as a producer on Dream Theater's Falling into Infinity album. Shaming of the True is a masterpiece.

Tragic loss for music and it's a crime that more people don't know about him.

  • Passionatearts - It was this concert footage that was sent to Banks and Rutherford. Josh Rubin who was Gilbert's manager came to his house to tell him that he had the audition. Josh found his dead body. Long Live Kevin Gilbert. Personally, Gilbert is one of my favorite artists of all time.

  • I read that Kevin Gilbert was a serious candidate to be Phil Collins' replacement as vocalist for Genesis. Sadly, Gilbert died before he could audition for the band. What a shame - he would have made a great vocalist for the band - better than Ray Wilson for sure.

  • The best Genesis cover I have heard. Bravo.

  • GREAT BAND!!!

  • I am Genesis fan from day one, this is the very best version of The Lamia I have heard to date, wish I had been there, A big well done to Kevin and the band amazing artists.

  • @85deckard

I was there, I was in college never will forget

  • I was there, wil never forget. I was in college.

  • This guy is the pera of lemmon!!!

  • Thank you very much Kevin... it's simply AMAZING!

  • The lights are dimmed, and once again the stage is set for you...........

  • Rocks my world..

  • Everyone should know how sheryl crow is a fraud for stealing Gilberts work. He killed himself after she won album of the year and played HIS song on Letterman and sayin she wrote it. The best part is she has to live with that

  • Is that an actual fact? I mean, if you know that, then how come his family haven't sue Sheryl for doing it? I have no reason for believing that you are lying, but you know how things become "facts" here in the internet. Peace.

  • True Vive..... Sounds more like gossip to me.......

  • Check the liner notes for the songwriting credits of "TNMC". Crow not only screwed Kevin, but the *entire* "Tuesday Night Music Club" - they were friends who jammed for a fair time before Kevin starting taking SC (they were dating then) with him, the entire group tracked the album behind SC and were getting ready to tour before SC dumped them ALL...

  • @scarred2112 There is a lot of truth to this story. Gilbert and Baerwald bailed Crow out on her record. And.. she cut them out. Now, the suicide due to the song was not tied to Gilbert, I've heard, but to the man who wrote the poem that became All I Wanna Do. She stood on the shoulders of giants, and crapped on em. :)

  • Kevin died of erotic asphyxiation, same way as Michael Hutchons from INXS.

  • Ya I probably shouldnt make comments on things I didnt actually go threw. If what U said is true then sry for my comment but from everything I researched about this concludes to what I said. But if thats true then WoW never seen that one coming kinda makes sence that it was never the official story because whos parents would wana say that. Still doesnt makeup for the fact that she gave him no credit and then he died and she still never did.

  • @hondaexr He didn't kill himself. Kevin died in a tragic accident, the details of which are unimportant. However, it's important not to give that kind of power to Sheryl Crow. His influence on her (and the world) was great; her influence on him was slight and trivial. She's just a fading pop star on borrowed producing talent and overrated vocal range, depth and quality. Kevin Gilbert, on the other hand, was a true original and musical genius whom we miss every day.

  • You must watch this! The best Genesis tribute i've ever heard! So amazing!

    watch?v=T4Z4GTNwbHY

    Or just search for "Guitman73"

  • He was the perfect man Genesis needed after Phil's departure.Too bad he couldn't hear the news that he had the gig.

  • @vivelavidarocka I would have found David Longdon really cool as well!

  • @Koootzer Agreed. He's also a great songwriter. I like his solo work and most recently with Big Big Train. I have no idea why they decided to go for Ray Wilson. IMO the least talented of all candidates to replace Phil.

  • He didn't get the gig, he got the audition

  • Thanks Kevin, you are an inspiration to my music. RIP

  • The Lamia is my song.Me tracks from my 18 years, and it is my soundtrack ... Peter Gabriel / Genesis forever .. "The Lamb ...."

Regards to all, light, peace, and spirituality ...São Paulo-Brazil...

  • lovely song , this and floyds comfortably numb my favorite tracks of prog golden era

  • No band better!!

  • The world lost a genius when Kevin Gilbert died.

  • Very nice sound - great voice - wish he hadn't mixed up the lyrics though

  • Great job performing instead of imitating... I like this version by itself. Keep uploading material, please!

  • very good man. You make me the desire to listen the lamb...again after many years.

  • you should have never STOPPED listening to it in the first place. the penalty is death.

  • I think more than Peter. His voice has emotions like Gabriel´s. Nice cover!

  • FANTASTIC JOB Kevin.

One of the most hauntingly beautiful songs even performed by Genesis.

  • nice bit o singing - but more Phil or Peter? - not sure

  • You gotta hear his Gentle Giant tribute. Unreal!

    Giant Tracks cd.

  • RIP Kevin..

  • Can anyone upload his version of The Musical Box??? Plz pretty plz. He even donned a mask while performing. That was ultra cool!!

  • I second this.

  • the best track out of the lamb , and indeed this performance is excellent . such good sound quallity too .

  • totally agree! Kevin was a genius

  • Bill Botrell mixed house sound oddly enough.

  • I agree, the performance and sound are really top class.
