One of the best movies from the nineties. Meryl and Clint really light up the screen, and unlikely paring at first, but they dive in and make it the shining gem it is.
I felt the love and the pain.. More than I have felt watching any other movie. That's something. I hope I never have to feel pain like that.. I don't think I could take it.
This movie is one of my favourite. In our lives, not everybody can have true love like Robert and Francesca. The rain scene made a deepest impression in my heart, even I can feel the love, pain deeply in her heart. Sometimes I feel I was her, cannot touch my love although it is front of me...
When Meryl and Clint did this movie, He was 65 and She was 49. They had to have sex and make out being 16 years apart. I know they're adults but that's a little too much for me.
But hey, that's what makes Meryl Streep amazing, right?
@heybaby205 Hey is that video about a dead cat the song is For all we know (we my never meet again Perfromed by John Hartman I found it out using Shazam
IM SO GLAD SHE DIDNT END UP LEAVING WITH HIM AT THE END.THAT WOULDVE SCREWED THE WHOLE MOVIE AND BOOK UP.BY MAKING FRANCESCA STAY IN IOWA WITH HER FAMILY IS WHAT MADE THIS A GREAT MOVIE.
Clint didn't have much films in the 90's. The Rookie, In the Line of Fire and Absolute Power are my favs but this film was very beautiful and touching too. Clint Eastwood is real genius. I love the 90s so much
I just saw this movie for the first time and I was just blown away.Soooo beautiful and heartbreaking.I love Meryl Streep, she is so lovely and an amazing actress.
What I got out of this movie, is people should never marry assholes just to be married. And if they do make that mistake, they should have the guts to leave those assholes at a moments notice if real love shows up. Seriously, they are quite clear at the beginning her husband and kids are assholes. And in the end you find out she is an asshole as well because she chooses to waste the rest of her life and to be tortured by assholes.

I like this movie except for i think clint eastwood shouldn't be doing sex scenes anymore on camera. His mouth is all foldy. ppl. can have sex until they die but when i go to the movies i expect to see a complete fantasy.
Clint why did you made this movie... I JUST LOVE IT SO MUCH THAT I CANT watch it :) And it's not just becouse of love story, it's something more... something that you can smell in the air when you watch this... something that cant be described with words... something that lives inside and dies with us... THANK YOU CLINT ...
Spare me the sexism, anti-feminist, b.s. fedhack, quite honestly the Internet doesn't care if you found yourself jerked around by the female gender and became embittered and jaded. It's happened equally on both sides of the gender game. It was the WAY the situation was handled that prevented women from seeing it in an ill light. Had a man done the same, and chose his responsibilities over his desires I would have respected him. Had SHE chosen herself over her family I would have lost all respect
I really get a kick out of all these women who think this is a wonderful story. If the bimbo in this movie was a man doing the same thing they would say he is a dirty rotten S.O.B..
Tried to add this to my favs yesterday,, it wouldnt take. This is my favorite movie of all times. The way she looks at him,, i just love the way her body, her face expresses the love she has for him,,, her lover. I can watch this movie over and over. And ,, i will. Sighhhhhhhhhhhhh.
Imagine meeting your 'soul mate' when you have a husband and children already! A tragic, beautiful love story about womans duty and being nothing but an unpaid , unapreciated skivvy....she should have eloped with him...not really...the intensity would have been lost..and she would have ended up washing his socks instead...ooh im a cynic!
Yes I met my soul mate but this time HE is the one who is married and has children. The movie reminds me of my own situation. It is tragic though beautiful at the same time that I have met him. This love cannot be taken from me/us.
This was a great movie but the intro with her kids was annoying as it gets "She wants to be cremated? Waaaah! Thrown off a bridge? Waaaah! Ah waaaahhhh!" Christ, it reminded me of every whiny ass douchebag I ever met in my entire life. I almost shut the movie off right there. What I loved about this movie though was it showed reality to all those assholes out there who marry solely to impress their friends or please their parents or even worse those dingbats who marry for money.
You used the word "reality" and I think that's a fairly accurate way to describe this movie. So many people, mostly women, get married young in hopes of leaving an unsatisfying home life, in hopes of seeing the world, experiencing a taste of life, and/or reaching goals and dreams. But the big dreams they had aren't what is in life's agenda. Reality hits later in life, and by that time, decades of life has passed by like a blink of an eye and minimal, if any, of the dreams were ever reached.
The more that I think of it, the more that I change my mind...This is only a movie, not real life...Life does hurt, and there no guarantees...I think situations mean more to the one person than the other sometimes....Hearts DO get broken, and sometimes people will not hold the torch...If you know what I mean reply...
I suppose it is hard to hold the torch when situations in life form barriers. It is hard to imagine 2 people having such a love and those situations in life preventing the acting on those feelings. I don't know which would hurt the most, wanting to be with someone so much but fearing they do not have mutual feelings or wanting to be with someone with mutual feelings yet cannot be together to share those feelings. When I watched this movie and read the book, I felt the characters' pain & loss.
Yes I agree...It is sooo hard either way, that is why that it is probably best that it did'nt go any farther...Like she said in the movie "Would anyone have seen the beauty of it?" It is best for the both of them to keep the memories always in their hearts, it is just easier to handle the whole situaton I think...I know that it would hurt, but I think it is better than taking it any further down the road...
"If you love something set it free...If it comes back to you it's yours,if it doesn't, it never was..." This movie proves that even in four days, it is possible to love, and hold that love for an eternity...
One of the best movies from the nineties. Meryl and Clint really light up the screen, and unlikely paring at first, but they dive in and make it the shining gem it is.

according to IMDB meryl has husband and kids in this role.
so basically she cheats on her whole family with a person that has no problem of destroying a marrige/family to get some punani.
and you all love this movie because? it is the OPPOSITE OF TRUE LOVE?
the irony of this movie...

And when you watch a movie about two "old" people falling in love, I'd say a sex scene isn't so far-fetched, you should've seen it coming.
