I should clarify that a seller on eBay who sells these said they machine couldn't be used to make socks. I have tried personally. For the money, I wasn't going to risk buying one and not be able to make socks with it.
My frustration is that you can't knit socks on this machine. You can't knit a large enough tube for a sweater either. It's kind of an in-between size that is limited to scarves and hats. Addi produces very high quality knitting products, so it would last forever.
@Kralitse i have carpal tunnel and i am starting to sell my handmade knitwear. this would help me get my pieces out faster as well as give my hands a break. (i can't knit very fast because my forearms start cramping. takes me 2-5 days to knit a scarf and hat) i still like knitting by hand but this would be much more helpful for my business and body. you should think about other perspectives...
@cheezymouseful You can get a real knitting machine, like a brother or singer on ebay and really save your arm some pain if you get one with an electric garter carriage. These machines have a learning curve but you still control the knitting pattern. Check out the videos on them if you like.

There should be no black needles, let them off and you will not have to be so carefull for them not to get a stitch!
