alfa brera has a big fautl with the sun visors. alfa need to fix this problem . they know about it but expect owners to pay to replace them when they break off.
@pettinhouse . I would love to delete these comments.. after Alfa come clean and apply the warranty to fautly goods and not to expect owners to have to pay for products that only last 12 months.. Legally goods are required to last a 'fair and reasonable time' 12 months for visors isnt fair and reasonable ! Do you think i enjoyed wasting my time posting all this.. ?? No -
@Yomaxavian don't worry...you can drive whitout problem...the brera back is too small enfact a lot of people buys brera because likes the car and above all because they are ALFISTI....I hope that my english is good
The problem with Alfa's modern sport coupés is that they are heavy and the engines they wear are lucklaster- unlike an Alfa engine should be- leaving you with a taste of disatisfaction on your lips...
The last great Alfa coupé I can remember was the 1998 GTV 2.0 liters turbo with the 200 HP... That was a great looking car with an engine that made it look right and performing... unlike the Breras and GTs of today which have sickly engines that barely manage to move the heavy cars...
Most European sports cars are FWD. I don't have a problem with FWD Alfa Romeo cars as long as they are made how they are supposed to be made: lightweight and with really fast engines.
The 2.0 V6, called V6 TB, was developed because of an Italian law that put an extra sales tax on cars with engines larger than two litres. It is basically a sleeved-down version of the three litre V6. The turbo was added for extra power while avoiding the tax.
I informed about the engine cause I wanted to buy one.
Strange. I never knew Italy had a similar tax system for engines above the 2.0 liters. Such a system only existed in Europe for Greece if I recall correctly. Still, the 2.0 TB of the GTV was a very performant engine.
It has more torque then the 3.0 V6. If it haven't got all that torque the car wouldn't be as nearly as fast as a 3.0, cause it's just too heavy. Over 1400kg.
The GTV is one of the most beautiful coupe's ever made... Its weight is actually just over 1300 kg and the later versions got even lighter... unlike the fatso Brera of today which amounts to 1700kg +.
The GTV with the 2.0 TB weighted 1350 Kgs at best. Indeed, it was one of Alfa's most beautiful coupes.
The 147 was light enough with the 1.6 version being at around 1200 kgs. I have one too. The only problem that I have with it, is that its steering is completely awful. It tends to overdrift in difficult and cut-out curves.
My 147 tends to drift in difficult corners and cut-out curves. The back of the car slides completely off track. So far, I am disappointed with its steering.
The GTV 2.0 tb weights 1350 kgs at best. Just let it go...
I am very happy with the steering, it's just soo direct. I drove a golf and a 1 series bmw, and the alfa has the same direct steering as a bmw1, just lighter servo.
The late GTV 1.8 TSpark is 1320 kgs because the coupe' got even lighter during the late years. The heavier would be the one with the 3.2 V6 which was listed at 1470 kgs. The 2.0 TB was around 1350 kgs.
Hatchbacks like the Golf and the 1 series tend to overdrift too inside curves. They may be even worse than the 147. Still, the 147 has a tendence to throw her rear off track during a tight curve.

I was very close to buying a Brera S a few months back but then I came to my senses and realised that even though it was one of the best looking cars ive seen in ages..... it would be crap!
The 'rounded' back kills the proportions of the car. The back should have been squared off more. If you look at it from the side, it just looks ridiculous.
yes... i also don't like the Brera that much, thats why i like the 159 sedan better: the same front, but not the rounded back. But a coupé would be nicer than a sedan.
Ragazzi provatela, non direte mai più che arranca in curva... se c'è un grande pregio della brera è che tiene la strada in maniera incredibile ed è stabilissima, quindi non parlate a sproposito. PS(bel video)
Im 14, so I dunno much about driving cars. But I saw another review, and it said the only problems were a few simple ones inside the car, since its shaped so meanly and cool, and a small trunk, for the same reason. But they said that the handling is amazing and the chassi has incredible limits. It IS the most beautiful car ive eveer seen, also.
People! don't bring your Audi and BMW bullshit to an Alfa video!!! we don't give a shit about boring German manufacturing! You can only understand the Beauty properly of Alfa by owning one. Statistics don't mean jack shit in most cases
Alfa Romeos might not be good as other competetors but it has something that attracts me. Yeah, it does break down often compared to other cars and it has a flimsy interior, it still has charisma and passion I can't resist.

the 2.0 TB was a heavy engine. It was based on the 3.0 liter but was just made smaller because of taxes in Italy.
Tsparkdriver 2 years ago
Engine taxes in Italy are non-existent. The 2.0 TB of Alfa Romeo was a great engine for its time.

maybe cause of the big torque? I never drove one.

No, it was because of the 200 CV... duh...

the 2.0 TB is 1430 kg.
It's beautiful, but for that size and purpose it's too heavy. I even consider my 147 too heavy

THe servo is too light and it has way too much bodyrolle in corners, so that I never came to drift or I will just turn over :)
but the gtv 2.0 tb has 1430kg :)
