  • group c's had the most badass sounds and designs D:

  • rotory for the win

  • shotgun riding jumpseat

  • I've just got an urge to route out my PS2 & play Gran Turismo 4 =D

  • @tr4nce4ddict gt5 sounds better, and you get to be inside the car.

  • @darkeyce02 I agree, GT5 does sound better, but unfortuneately i'm not that far advanced on it yet, don't have enough credits :(

  • @tr4nce4ddict darn, i would send you one if they lifted the 1,000,000cr tradeing limit

  • @darkeyce02 There's an easier way of doing it instead of trading. Become his friend, set your car to an option in the garage on the 787B that allows the car to be used by a friend so that he can then go on your profile in GT5 mode and borrow your car. He'll then be able to use it.

  • @Slowshyy yes, i know, but its not like having it at your disposal

  • @darkeyce02 Well it is really. You can borrow it anytime you want as long as the person you're borrowing it off has it set to online and you can use it online and offline. Simple as.

  • @Slowshyy i would never leave any of my cars online, enless its a car i have a duplicate of. and everytime you would go back to you it if you borrow it, you would have to redo all the settings.

  • @darkeyce02 Only your friends can see it if it's online and it's also impossible for them to steal it from you. And it's not exactly hard to remember the settings you applied before. Heck, you can find really good ones online.

  • Is this fuji speedway? I think i recognize the fencing and the the mountain in the background from all the years playing gran turismo....

  • I'd like to see a V8 get near these.

  • Could rap to that idle.

  • i love how the quad rotory sounds at idle it fools you into thinking it's some type of beastly v8 then it revs up and it sounds like a thousand screaming baby's from hell it's amazing

  • I love this sound!!!

  • i'd like to have this car even if its doesn't move....just for the noise

  • i drive Mazda, you?

  • @robbantheshit yea a 121 lol

  • @carholden1 cute car hehe, never seen one, wernt on the list of cars my country imported then.

  • LOL. That dude blocking his ears.... what a pussy, like man why would you wan't to block out that magical sound!

  • I don't think I'll ever be able to appreciate the sound of another car now. No car will even come close to sounding that good.

  • bridgeported FTW motherfucking bitch ass niggas

  • i wonder what the speed on the 787B is i've always wonderd but to lazy to look it up...lol

  • i have a 1985 mozda that has a rotory motor only 90hp hahaha fast tho

  • did i saw an R92CP? behind the 787b...

    GROUP C cars still alive!!!!!!!!

    THEY RLZ

  • I played that track on gt5

  • @The88drunkredneak you should go back and race fuji 80's or 90's

  • It's a good sound, but doesn't come close to the sound of a BBC loping at idle.

  • That´s an F1 hahaha!

  • sounds better then justin bieber :D

  • wwwwooomm...woooommm....WWWWWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!.......woooommmm..

  • Idle sounds like arse, but good god the things I would do to get a chance to drive that car.

  • @TestECull what are u talking about ? :p rotary engines sounds awesome at ALL times, full on or in idle.. Its one long eargasm..

  • @skvakagud To me, at idle, it sounds like it's about to fly apart. If any of my cars made a noise like that I'd pull them over and drop the oil pan, expecting the rod bearings to be smeared all over the outside of the innards.

Idle sounds like shit. Too much lope, too much crackle. Sounds good once you get the revs up though.

  • @TestECull ah damn o: I feel you feel that way, then i guess i cant blame you, and thank you for coming with a decent arguement... To me, it sounds like an evil beath, breathing very hard. Just before it charges.. that "Vumm.. Vumm.. Vumm.. Vumm.." very fast.. / u can hear it rotating compared to the "rattle" a piston engine like a boxer will give.. I just like that, but ofc i respect u got a diff. oppinion, always interresting seen what people find awesome (:

  • idle sounds like a pod racer :P

  • Sounds like Cicada.

  • Just heard that the rotary engine was invented in germany, but the japanese perfected it.

  • @Raptorx007 some slight difference that could make one say they work in different ways, but yes the concept of a rotary engine was made by Wankel from Germany. ( Cant remember the first name )

  • @starqueer

Go smoke a bag of dicks.

  • BRAPBRAPBRAPBRAPBRAPBRAPBRAPBRAPBRAPBRAPBRAPBRAPBRAPBRAPBRAPBRAPBRAPBRAPBRAPBRAPBRAP

  • @pokerboy7s

    Yeah! and @ 1:05: WWWWWIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIMMMMMMMÔÔÔÔÔÔÔÔÔÔÔÔÔÔÔÔÔÔÔHHHHHHH !!! :)

  • What an eargasm...

  • Anyone else have a big smile on their face the whole duration of this video?

  • That is not the 787B, its the 767B.

  • @turboiifc

    This is #55, 787B-002.

It is painted in the Renown livery colors, not Charge - as most 767/B were.

This is the 787B that won LeMans in 1991.

  • @HashECM yeah. also the only Japanese car to ever win LeMans. it was so powerful they banned rotaries from the series

  • @meifert2

The rotary wasn't banned from Le Mans. In 1991, FISA (FIA) enacted the *second* round of regulatory changes designed to standardize competition with a 3500cc engine. This action had nothing to do with the Wankel design.

But, this moved Mazda (and any other non conforming engines) to Class2 competition. That is not the same as a ban.

In fact, had Mazda presented a 3500cc Wankel (instead of 2616cc), it would have been met specification for Class 1 - and completely dominated the field.

  • @turboiifc Lay off the heroin. The 767B never got the Renown paint job.

  • ...wont be long till WMG blocks the audio of this video cuz the owner dosent have a licence for the music... LOL

  • @CemetaryGatesML lol the gonna say they own the right to the engine

    mazda like wtf

  • @CemetaryGatesML Epic comment win!

  • @CemetaryGatesML haha nice, music to my ears too

  • 4 people are deaf

  • is that fuji speedway?

  • @greydawg38

    Yes, the Old Course.

  • I thought the rotors are moving 3 times as fast as the crank.

  • @balli2195 That would make and extreemely torquey low revving engine rather than what we have here.

  • At the beginning of the video it kinda sounded like a very small diesel not idling right. Sure a weird sound these things make.

  • @Warblade118 Beautiful sound you meant to say :)

  • @JORDANIAN94 Beauty is in the eye, or I suppose, ear of the beholder. Beautiful is not how I would describe the sound of this race car. To me, beautiful is that crackling uneven lope of a big cam, high compression big block idling, or the full on war cry of 800HP+ V8’s roaring down the ¼ mile. But that’s just me.

  • just cant get used to the stutter i guess u can call it

  • sweet sweet music

  • weak..the Gnome rotary in the up comming rx9 is better than the rotaries previously and currently used

  • They stil race the old late 80's/early 90's prototypes? wow i really need to go to japan now :D

  • that ain't a Bridgeport, that's full on Peripheral

the reason for the brap-brap brap is mainly because in a Peripheral port motor, as well as with (bridge\monster port engines) the inlet is actaully full open 360º

  • Just imagine pulling up to a stop light in that thing

  • I loved this car in GT4, especially the black secret version

  • U GUYS YUST SAW A LEGEND !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • is it the cycling of the engine that gives it the sound at idling?

  • Comment removed

  • @Woodsy8686 And does that hold true for the muscle cars with the v8s as well, the thrum-thrum-thrum sound you get from the muscly ones? I was told the Cam has alot to do with it also?

  • @bendystix the rotary does that because when it is ported as a "bridgeport" there is a seperate intake cut out for intake of gas mixure, right above the original intake port. this leaves a "bridge" between the 2 ports and gives it the brap brap brap brap sound. not sure about the v8's though.

  • @bendystix i you mean an engine sounding like its about to die and then pick back up over and over, most cases its blower surge with a carburated engine, basically the engine leans out, revs up, sucks more fuel in, which slows the engine down... rinse and repeat...

happens in diesels too, almost same reason, the fuel pump being a bigger aftermarket pump puts out way more fuel, and the idle controller messes up and the engine surges

  • @mageac Yeah I notice it on alot of muscle cars not supercharged though or even tractors.

  • @bendystix It's more to do with the porting on the engine, a standard rotary doesn't have much - if any - of the 'brap brap' at idle, it's only when the intake and exhaust ports are made bigger when that sweet sound starts to really appear.

  • This car better sound like this in GT5

  • @jager6903 Is this car going to be in GT5?

  • いいねぇ、3ローターでいいから何か魅力的なクルマをMAZDAはだせばいいのにね。

  • @bzww6890 Watachiha biiro ga sukimasu.

  • @bzww6890 ハハ!私と変態場合私は群れという点で人を!

  • and thats what i call pod racincg lol

  • there's no other engine in the world that gives me the same feeling that this one does

  • @mydogzty yea, it's been a while since I played it but i'm pretty sure it is. It's a 5 speed and handles sweet with the super soft tires fitted.

  • i would love to have this as a daily driver :D

  • Ahahaha. The car won so bad, that they banned it from the circuit. Good game, rotary!

  • THIS IS THE CAR THAT MADE PORSCHE AND FERRARI CRY LIKE BITCHES

  • @LUPENTV07 FU

  • looks like mugello

  • im so hard it hurts

  • this car litteraly raped so bad when it was raced in Le Mans, Rotors were outlawed in Le Mans

  • @909Monopoly not rly. i think there where some probs with the cars and the drivers complained about loosing there hearing bec it was so loud. also it wasnt as fast as the other group c cars. its just it is the most reliable and when all the cars setting a good pace retired from mech probs this was all that was left of the faster cars.. and they pulled it apart after 24 hour lemons and the engine had almost no wear! thats amazing. but i love this car. probs my fav car ever

  • 0.38 oh..oohh...ooohhh...OOHH....OOOHHH......OOOOHHHHH!!OOOOOOOHHHHHH!!!!......aaahhh!

  • Heard at 1.06 from the crowd " Is there an F1 in this race? Doesn`t seem fair does it?!"

  • Truly a unique sound. I remember being at Le mans in the late 1980's and early 1990's before the ACO messed up the circuit completly. At 2 am when we were trying to get a little sleep, we could hear these cars on the run from mulsanne corner to Arnage , that is some distance from Houx camping. I was very happy to see these cars win with Herbert and co. I have quite a few photos, the original stickers and Charge jacket. Also video at Brands Hatch of white 1. We used to joke with a combe and tissue

  • Amazing!!!

  • shit is sexy

  • Thats muuuuuuuuuusic !!!!!!!!!

  • cream

  • This car won le-mans. One of the fastest cars in the world. It got banned from racing in Le-mans the following few years after racing. Lol too much power ftw

  • spunds so good, there only downfall is there reabilty...... But if you keep the oil in it and keep it cool :D

  • @MarcsMobileAudio Actually, when they tore down #55's engine after it won in 91', they said it could of done another 24 hours. . .

  • @BlueFox284 ....ssshhh....aji8 might hear you. ;-)

  • In a league of it's own, there is no comparison to any other race car other than HP/TQ numbers. Say what you want, there is a reason why it was banned after Le mans. Sort of related to why the RX-8's are held on BS restrictions in the GT-Class, and they still put sad faces on their opponents.

  • 1:03 to 1:10 sounds like a pod racer from that star wars movie.....haha

  • it has no torque at all. its just sitting there gutless as hell

  • @petrolheadkiwi92 it has huge amounts of torque at high rpm. If it is so gutless why did it win Le mans?

  • @petrolheadkiwi92 448 ft·lbf of torque and 700 hp in an 1874 lb car isn't enough for you?

  • When you go to Skip Barber at Laguna, seeing as the track IS owned by Mazda, they should let you drive a 787B! Think of how much fun that would be.

  • lmao thats a crazy cam.

  • @SPARTONmAn : A Rotary (wankel) engine has no camshaft ;-)

  • @slashsupra ah. im real unfamiliar with rotary motors.

  • sounds so badd ass

  • yes yes. a very good sound

    indeed

  • the ending of this vid was such a beast xD

  • Fuck yeah, one of these in my b2600 bravo will do me!

  • Sounds like a lot of people here know a lot about nothing!

One thing is true, it beats scalextric!

  • I'd love to drop the 787B in my RX8 :)

  • lol 787b is the car, 26B is the motor.

  • haha yea then it would really get up and go :)

  • and the rest of yall.... there is only an e-shaft... there is no crank shaft because there are no pistons to crank! Buncha posers up in here!

  • Grapes.... dawg..... you do not know what you are talking about.... sorry dawg!!!! Rotary's have 3 combustion chambers per rotor... each side of the triangle is a combustion chamber! STOP TALKING DAWG! PLEASE!....

  • wnakle engines only have one combustion champer. meaing there is only one area of ignition. the reason the 787b had 3 spark plugs was to improve efficiency. many piston engines are start to have 2 plugs per cyclinder.

  • WTF ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT???? Rotaries have 3 chambers 1 per side of the rotor each rotor! the 787b had 3 plugs per rotor 2 trailing one leading. As far has piston engines having 2 plugs per Cyl thats a Waste spark system. and is OBSOLETE!

  • but only one area of the rotor fires, it s still only has 1 chamber for each rotor that fire. 3 chambers wold mean 3 seperate area of firinging. the 3 plug fired a single chamber, they fired at different time to make the fuel burn more effectivly meaning more power was obtained from a single cycle. even tho modern engines use a single plug the way the engine is fueld throught the injectors allow a more perlonged firing sequence giving a longer power delivery making the use of fuel more effective

  • FUCK YEAH!!!!!

  • Where are the turn signals?

  • @VAJOWLES its prolly a racetrack car.. :)

  • yea but the faster it goes it increases downforce thats where most f1 traction is gain

  • This car does about 2.7 seconds 0-60. It's acceleration was great, but it lacked a lot of speed compared to other cars. Where it did not have speed, it made up with extreme durability, which is why it won. Love this car.

  • rotoary sechs

  • now i can die!

  • @guillermo556

    Rest in peace Bro.

  • are car like that would easy do under 3 sec 0-60mph

  • actually you'd be surprised. grip is a huge limiting factor for a car like that. maybe once it got up to 60mph he could really lay down the power, but not before.

  • i remember doin a research paper on this car, how it was banned from le mans, and the revolutionary design of the r26b motor.

  • seriously ? it was banned? holy crappp dude.

  • yep. it was banned becuase it was waaaay too dominate of a race car. lol. it was killing the competition, so it was banned. people were complaining about how unfair it was. love it!

  • It was banned because of the weight, it was much lighter than the other cars though it made the same power if not a little more.

  • So true, why fuckwitts have thumbed you down i have no clue.

  • why?...to fast or somthing?

  • in terms of making a whole paper short, it was too fast, french didn't like it, they thought it was an unfair advantage. also the engine construction was indifferent, thus leading Le Mans chairmen to believe Mazda had the upper hand in the race. But, i love rotaries, i own one myself, and with those "new" Le Mans rules, i say, to hell with em.

  • This is what rotards actually believe.

  • This is also why the 787B was banned from le mans.

  • Yeah they did the same thing to Steve Saleen with restrictor plates, it was a GM payoff. Its very underhanded some of the things they slide by.

  • It was way to fast for its wieght.

  • how fast in mph?..0-60...0-top end? if u know

  • I wouldn't know but you can reserch it up on google, I know there are a few sites.

  • haha gotta love that.. its like pleasseeee just let me go i wanna fuckin haul!!!

  • rup rup rup rup rup rup... Man what an awesome sound!

  • thats fucking so sexy wish it was street legal

  • could u sustain one if it was street legal? :D

just messing with u ;)...nothing serious

  • This is the best car in Gran Turismo 3. lol

  • of course man

  • Haa i used to play that game every day. Yeah, it was the best "car". The F1s put all the cars to shame tho :s.

  • but what about the F090/S

  • Yea, the F1s are the fastest outright. I just love the handling and acceleration of the 787b, its good in the endurance races too for tire wear.

  • @3tittiefreak is it actually in Gran Turismo 3? Or was that a stupid question.

  • @3tittiefreak I love that game! I hope Gran Turismo 5 is the same but with better graphics. lol!

  • they didn't say they couldn't be used, but completely failed to created a category or an agreed displacement conversion. Outlawed by default, but not in so many words. If that makes sense?

  • Sounds like pacman. :D

  • HAHAHAHAHAHA

  • beautiful idle

  • This car was beating anything in lemans due to its weight power ratio. It's a great car and just because it had that much advantage they banned rotarys from lemans :(. Love the 787b

  • shame the street rotary isn't as good as the race rotary... burning oil and breaking all the time.

  • Except the fact that it's designed to burn oil, oil is injected into the combustion chamber. You can also disable the oil pump and premix like a two stroke.

They break because carbon buildup wears the seals out or because people think they have no real redline and abuse them, or they forget to keep adding oil because they don't know what they're doing.

  • they burn oil due to being essentially a 2 stroke, and break due to poor/incorrect ownership techniques.

  • Except Mercedes was winning until the second to last lap when they broke down....

  • Correct.....ironically it was the reliability of the car that won them the race.

  • technically they didn't get banned, but, when new catagories were introduced and all the engine requirements were for pistons.

  • I mean quite weird that after mazda won the introduced this requirements isnt it strange?

  • annoying..... yes. strange? not really. Nissan skyline got banned from aussie touring cars as no-one could keep up. Caterham 7 got banned from some prototype thing in the 80's cos an almost road spec car was being bmw etc's $£silly prototypes. For me, if mazda were open with the fia about power output it could easily of been classified, and then minimum weight regulation would of taken care of the rest. Bring back the rotaries!! Bring back the turbines!!

  • this decision was made far earlier then mazda won Le Mans. Actually in 1990 peugeot introduced 3,5L V10 "905" and mercedes also had c291 with 3,5 12 boxer and everyone know that 1991 was last chance for good old Group C. Peugeot for 1991 take 905 mercedes selected good old C11 in favor of new prototype... Mazda actually had lowest fuel consumption, but was ALOT lighter than the others, 830kg/1000kg, thats fact, Jacky Ickx was able presuade FISA about weight.

  • I dont know why someone give you thumb down, you are correct, 787B wasnt any superior to others of Group C, in qualify for Le Mans 1991, number 55 qualified 12. much slower than mercedes c11 and porsche 962c, both on straight and pace on lap despite much lower weight 830kg vs. 1000kg for porsche, mercedes, jaguar... Still this is my favorite group C car:-)
