  • how do u strike with mantis??? is it with the wrist???

  • i don't understand what is the point in striking someone with your wrist?

  • @fabiopq its actually the back of the hand. You bend the wrist to help keep the motion flexible on contact. otherwise use the forearm above the wrist, like a bat. its really safe, and relatively painless, in comparison. I understand what you were saying, and did it myself, and realized it was not the wrist, but the bending of the wrist.

  • LOL@ the mouth he makes at the end KEK

  • you can hear the clothing snap in all his movement........I dont know how strong he is but I do know he's fast

  • The secret is to use the light grab to pull Hootie's balance forward onto the leg to be swept.

  • the guy must of be like man why did i come today

  • Poor dude xD man the "Attacker" got dropped thought he banged his head on the wall

  • Don't think I'd use this as a training video but it is a good example of what the techniques can do maybe I'd learn from his master

  • Ah, a nice 2-step technique

  • i love the non-threatening first punch...lol

  • He looks like Spencer from iCarly.

  • samsonite ,I was way off!

  • he always beats on the same guy lmao poor guy

  • Wouldn't learn this from a kid.

  • right like all my instructors have had real life experience and I feel he really has never used this for more then like 1 street fight if even that.

  • Just give me one GOOD reason why? You should not learn this from a kid.

  • No experience, as opposed to someone who has been practicing for 40 years.

  • On the twist after the hook (NOT BLOCK), the left forearm should be used to hyper extend his opponents elbow preceding the reverse mantis hand strike and leg attack. Note: Northern Mantis Kung Fu does not use blocks. It counters and attacks only.

  • how am I supposed to counter without using some kind of a block first?

  • The Hook in Mantis is an aggressive motion. It is an attack or a countering attack. NOT a BLOCK. Mantis has many methods of fighting principles in it's system, and Block IS NOT one of them. This is one of the characteristic aspect of Mantis that makes it unique towards other styles; its aggressiveness. I will post a video response soon, so you could have a better idea of what I mean.

  • cool, looking forward to actually see what you mean

  • Tiger is also agressive S:

I have a friend and he loves to fight with tiger

he always reaches my troath :(

  • @rawrisimo Most people don't really know how powerful and effective using the animal or other gung-fu styles can really be. I've worked out with a few boxers and wrestlers who asked if they would work in a street fight. I showed them eagle claw, tiger and some basic drunken monk.. after dropping them to the floor each time in 5-10 seconds they had enough. I told them that I'm not even good at the styles overall either, the guys I trained with were faar better than I, they were shocked, ha.

  • You are a little wrong here buddy: the kwa movement (upward block) can bee seen as a blocking movement. It is performed in the same way as in karate and Taekwondo, its a hard blocking movement used against high attacks.

  • @80KungFu, Gwa does not mean "upward block", there is NO such word block in any 7-Star Praying Mantis theory. People have misused the gwa as merely a block, but they are cheating themselves. Gwa means suspend, to hold-up as a means to counter, not to block. Taekwondo, and karate has blocks in their systems. 7-Star Mantis approaches fighting from an aggressive point, not passive. Mantis does not wait for an attacker to block, it simply attacks or counter.

  • the slow was much better and smooth

  • Mr. Spock knows kung fu.

  • he could not survive off of the dew of a single gingko leaf

  • how many times is he going to teach the same movement? ithis is the 4th or 5th video i've seen of the same movement.

  • slippy, slappy, swammy ,samsonite! I was way off!

  • I like the street clothes on the attacker. I can't imagine an attacker wearning those shorts. I would expect that guy to be going to a Hootie and The Blowfish concert and drinking a Zima.... Do they still make Zima?

  • Serial killer Ted Bundy would sometimes wear a suit and tie to fool his victims and gain their trust. Ya never know.

  • @gregsedmak I can imagine in front a elementary school trying to give candeh to the children.

  • this is a very unique style compared to other martial arts

  • The principles are ok but some really weird poses and movements.

  • praying mantis kung fu is pretty weird, but quite impressive. consider the fact that many styles attack only one part of the body at any one time, while praying mantis (at least some of the schools of mantis) tend to attack and hook the arms while kicking or tripping up the legs.

  • i dunno, its fun. they just enjoy it

  • whats up with your crazy conservatism? all of us are conservative to a degree but just because it was made or created in a certain land doesn't mean it's theirs alone. think of cars...i could say, what are all these yellow boys doing driving cars, don't they know its an American thing...

  • wow, wartime managed to cover two stereotypes in one sentence. that "whiteboys" can't do shit and that chinese and kung fu master is synonymous

  • you appear to missunderstand he's just trying to teach a technique and he's been doing these moves for years, so they do not think their chinese or kung fu "masters". Expert village are just trying to teach us how to defend themselves.

  • 5th

  • 4th

  • preety cool ill make sure ill remember it

  • 2nd comment yeah
