"Just read your video description on this video. Worry not about the liberals, they will be the first to go" This pretty much sums it up. In a PAW situation, liberals will be valued as a source of cheap labor as they realize they are starving to death due to their lack of real knowledge and need OUR food, and those that still don't figure it out will make good fertilizer.
Here's my take on the organic thing, and yes, I DO garden organically and have never used chemical ferts of pesticides. For me, its mostly that I don't want to be ingesting those chemicals and its fine for now. I have managed to have pretty good harvests so far, HOWEVER, with organic gardening, you have to be prepared to have some losses or even a poor harvest from time to time. Again, fine for now, but if you are in a SHTF situation, you aren't going to have that luxury anymore
SHAME ON YOU! Man, don't you know that you're just supporting the Chemical Industrial Complex! Uh OK, just kidding. I have really enjoyed this series of videos. Great Job and thanks for posting them!
@SurvivalReport hey, i do like your videos on the bees, although, i think you could have expanded on the moth problem (was there anything at all?), and i (correct me if i'm wrong) but you said nothing about the 2 remaining hives, did they make it through the winter?
by the way, i think the guy was criticizing your videograpghy and not the camera itself :o). but most home made youtube tutorials are poorly thought out. i've watched 13 of yours one after the other so they were watchable...
Just read your video description on this video. Worry not about the liberals, they will be the first to go, they have no freaking idea about reality. N2 is N2 and CO2 is CO2, the source doesn't make two bits of difference to the plant that utilizes it.
Just remember when they are the ones needing assistance that there is no way you could allow yourself to help them by feeding them "contaminated" food or meat from a "hunted" animal. Loved the ending ;-).
What good news to know that commercial fertilizers won't make the soil sterile & kill the worms as I have also always heard. Cordie Howell mentioned though to ask, "What is the filler composed of?" Beware of it being industrial sludge. I come from a "hippy" background & have mostly done the raised beds so far, mostly to combat gophers. I'm not suckered by global warming & I have been listening to "patriots" since '07. I don't want the NWO. I like you & what you are doing.
Worms are good! Poor unappreciated creatures, these buggers do a lot of good keeping your soil is in good health. After your soil is balanced, go ahead and add some to your plot and you will see a HUGE difference in your yield.
good survivalist but you obviously dont get liberals they divide and conquer you cant assume one evirogroup to have he same standards as another. thats how we got to the dubatripaquadrupil standard.
Well, you are losing me as a subscriber! I agree with the spirituality of the liberals, as well as the dedication to going "all natural". Oh well, you can use a modest amount of chemicals and still find life in the soil, but what bothers me is the principle, and I don't want to support those companies that produce the chimcals.
Sorry to hear that. So I guess you are coming with more "absolutes" and think that only Monsanto or some huge company that does GM foods are the only places that make rock fertilizer? Heck most of the stuff I buy is made more or less locally. The problem is that these earth worshiper think and talk only in ABSOLUTES. Like the idjit that told me that if you EVER use anything other than organic on your ground NOTHING will ever live there.
Sometimes you have to spray, there is no getting around it. One thing I try to do is spray with neem oil and see what happens. Usually that solves the problem. If not I will try something a little stronger. Where I live the majority of the world's apples are grown, and if the trees were NOT sprayed for the apple maggot, there would be NO apples. Hey check out this great organic fertilizer called Milorganite. It's made from human manure. It's great and pretty cheap. Don't have to use much.
Yep. We were doing the dormant oil spray, it did NOTHING to prevent or control the problem. Was surprised to find out that Malathion is a short term use pesticide. We were able to spray at dusk (so the bees wouldn't be out and carry it back to the hives), and we had NO PROBLEMS with that. Surely if it was that terrible the bees 100 yards away would have let us know. Sometimes you got to do what you gotta do.
I've had the same experience with apple maggot & plum curculio...they fly in from elsewhere, don't overwinter,so dormant spray does nothing & they make my fruit totally unusable(apples can be used for cider, but nothing else & all my plums fall prematurely.I absolutely MUST spray, or I won't get edible fruit....I don't mean cosmetically perfect, either, just usable. Thanks for being brave enough to insist that your own practical EXPERIENCE is worth more than anybody's "theories" & "beliefs".
hey i just come across with the "premaculture" and i think that it`s more interesting then monoculture. just search it on youtube or google if you didn`t see it yet. i think that it`s amazing... good luck
I'm guessing those "liberals" didn't know that 10-10-10 is considered "organic" according to master gardeners. Eh, don't worry about them. Penn and Teller got these same people to sign a petition banning water.
Hmm I wish we could have cover crops, now its so hot during the day that in the middle of summer it looks like autumn...that is all the leaves on the trees are BURNT BROWN not naturally brown. Worst heatwave since 1908...I live in Aus btw. The heat plus there is absolutely no water anywhere makes for a very dead garden. our lawn that we never water was once green, now its not only dead, its so sun burn it looks tea coloured. It will never come back.
As a liberal, I would like to distance myself from "tree-huggers", with these comments.
Beer
Trucks
Football
Guns
Bear wrestling
Hunting
Mountain Dew is the best drink ever made
There, I hope that put enough distance between "hippy" types and true liberals. Now that that is out of the way, DECREASE CARBON FOOT-PRINT, FREEDOM OF CHOICE, PULL OUT OF IRAQ, GUN CONTROL, SOCIALISM, KEITH OBERMAN!!!!!!!!!
great vid we are facing a crop killing frost in Miami well west of it where I live and I have you in my thoughts and prayers. Thank you so much for all your vids I learn so much from them.
Yes we heard tonight that a lot of the citrus crop is in danger from the cold. A month ago some of our fruit trees started budding out, needless to say the buds are dead now. Thanks!
Thanks! Youtube changed the upload procedure. Before you couldn't start the upload till ALL the info including tags, etc. was entered. Now it starts uploading BEFORE you can put in any of the info. I did put in all the info but when I got back it said "produce 16". I did the same thing last week with the last edition- automatically naming it the file name. I might not be doing something right. Appreciate the nice comments, thanks for watching!
Hard to say how much land, depends a lot on condition of soil, what your growing, etc. If land shopping I would consider 1 acre per person the very minimum. That will give you room for an orchard, big gardens, some bees, small animals. 5 acres would give you room for a pond. Some might could do well on less land, I try to estimate on the high side, it's worked so far :)
Hi, I just read through the comments on this excellent video & noticed your comment/question....those 2 people you're talking about....if one of you is a man & the other one is a woman......please purchase enough land for a FAMILY.....Seriously, we both swore we'd NEVER have kids & neither of us wanted any.......we ended up having 3 !!! Moral of story... worms love 10-10-10!!! :-)

Horrible lib here, love your videos. Organic gardener as Mother Nature permits. That means save a tree first, worry about the bigs later.
I worship the Earth, literally, and I used chemical fertilizer until I could move over to organic.

It isn't commercial fertilizer, it's pesticides that will ruin your chances of running a permaculture garden. Fertilizers are fine.

Another good vid. I really value the opinions of those that DO over those that SAY.
Please excuse my ignorance, but what does Produce 16 mean?
How many acres do you have in production?
I learned that 1/2 acre per person was needed back in the 1800's for food production.
Have higher yields dramatically reduced the required land for gardening/farming?
Try not to let the negative responses bother you because you've got far more fans to spend your time on.
Thanks.
