  • It honestly sounds nothing from the Roses as they were famous for...

The lyrics are a bag of shit...

    Ian Brown sounds very different...

But, I FUCKING LOVE THIS SONG.

  • When is someone going to release the real Full Fathom Five not that bloody Elephant stone backwards they fob us all off with. A real fan will know what I'm talking about.

  • @Noodles37UK aint full fathom five where angels play backwards ?

  • @spaced377 Elephant Stone = Full Fathom Five ( vinyl only, I think ), Waterfall = Don't Stop , Where Angels Play ( outro ) = Simone and Made of Stone = Guernica. Wish they did more of these : )

  • One of the most under-rated songs ever! and it's one of my favourite ever! only if this was as recognizable as 'Waterfall' 'She Bangs the drums' Etc.. This is a fucking immense tune, and deserves as much credit as them 2. Ian brown - Godlike Genius.-- Undeniable Fact.

  • I find myself listening to lots of U.K. bands these days... I believe it started with Joy Division, then i ended up finding My Bloody Valentine through them somehow and ended up here with Stone Roses. I'm from the states...

  • @Silvamedalist Fair play to you:)

  • i fucking love the stone roses!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • watch?v=46CNp89_52Y

  • only started listening to this because a random guy said i look like ian brown, if i do, boy am i honoured to look like a legend!

  • Picking your favourite stone roses song is like picking your favourite child.

  • @20LiamScholes09 I get ya, I pick fools gold, because my daughter Lucy is a right cow!

  • @20LiamScholes09 So, so true. The Stone Roses have so many GREAT songs. And depending on my mood, different ones are my favs.

  • As important if not more important a band than The Beatles, Sex Pistols or Elvis.

  • @philbertfwog settle down they werent that important

  • @backbeatbobby They were, simply because they're better than all three of those. That and without them Indie would never have happened. They were doing this shit 10/11 years before ANYONE else.

  • @philbertfwog true, for mid eighties this is well ahead of its time!!

  • This got such a bad press when it came out.. now everyone loves it

  • class!! one of my favourite roses tunes but then again underated..amazing..

  • fuckin' tuneeeeeeee.

  • @placebo150 this was recorded in 1985

  • This is actually a pretty damn good track, I don;t see why The Roses were always so reluctant they made it.

  • STONE ROSES, class of their own.

  • where there is life there is hope and where there's a will there's a way.....

is there a better opening line to any tune in the world ever?

  • This song is fucking sick!. takes me back

  • I've only recently heard about this band, but I assume they have been around for years and I'm the only one who had been oblivious to this. I don't know if it's goth, or indie, or what year it's from. It sounds like the Replacements a little. I don't really care to categorize it because it's pretty good music.

  • @phl1ag1983 get a grip lad. it's all good, you dick.

  • @munnikey essentially it's early indie music. they started to record mid 80s became big i think 89 lasted to around 95. more info on wiki.

so many banging tunes. just check them all out for yourself. one of my favourites is high times, never released but it is floating around the net. if you can't find it, pm me i will send it to you.

  • @munnikey

I don't mind garage flower, but even ian brown said it was shit, they didn't discover their sound yet.

The 60's pyschedelic, funk sound is just mind blowing. The best band to get stoned to. When they recorded elephant stone, they knew how the wanted to sound. Its just amazing

  • @themasterplan23 yeah thats my acid music....

  • @munnikey you lucky person!! dam you got some awesome catching up to do! enjoy every minute of it , they actually have not made a poor song , anyone??

Despite what most will say , they did it perfectly , made a small portfolio of heaven sent genius songs , then finished , that is part of the legacy. Also chekout the La's and all of ian browns solo work!!! you will not be disappointed. enjoy

  • @munnikey ive listened to everything the roses have ever done loved em since spike island ...and i can tell you this is most definitly a roses fav ,the seven inch single back in 90 was a rarity that sold for 100 quid

  • @happentodie i just came across them, can u point me in the direction to the best songs

  • @yungrippHRK there aint no ''best songs'' mate!! any roses tune's the fuckin bollocks! so yeah the answer to ur question is......any tune any album!! hope this helps!! live forever!!!

  • @yungrippHRK My faves are Elephant stone, Waterfall, She Bangs the Drums, and Mersey Paradise. Plus many more lol.

  • i think this early stuff is brilliant,i managed 2 get hold ov `garage flower` album a few weeks ago and its propa gud ,raw as fuck! n a bit punky, the last song on the album `mission impossible` is really really gud one of my favourate roses tracks easy!

  • OMG! This takes me back! Saw em in the Banshee when they looked like The Cult! A fine band then and they went on to be an even finer band! Ian Brown is a proper chap!! I should know coz iv'e met him. ;-000 xx

  • Is it just me who thinks this is a total anthem'ic song no where near goth!!

  • if you can find this on single vhynl(spellin is shite) your laughin,.its was worth £100 in 1997,.so god knows what its worth now...

  • @carlos7217 found it on ebay 7 days left £14.99 get bidding!!!!!!!!

  • today's indie sucks, the roses rocks...90's "indie" was awesome.this song might be different but it is definately a nice piece of music

  • From the 80's this tune

  • @dondoleone i do know that lad,but i wasnt reffering to that particular song, althought their debut is late 80's as well but i am describing the scene of the 90's when those ones were popular.mid 80's are cool as fook as well

  • @placebo150 80s

  • Respond to this video... 80s

  • @jpp1g08 what the hell does this mean????

  • @placebo150 Do you even know what indie means?

  • @Thatisannoying where did you came from?btw you couldn't pick a better name

  • it aint shit

just diffrent to wat they usallly do

    best fuking band ever

these guys made indie the way it is today

  • it aint shit it top because it just fifrent to wat they usallly sound like

    best band ever full stop

these guys made music for wat it is today

  • @vienna1981 Your comment is the only thing thats shite.

  • @vienna1981 this is the only stone rose song i like as they are shite he he :P

  • dude anybody who thinks the roses are goth are utter retards anybody who is anybody wud agree this is the fuckin band who basically started the indie rock scene in manchester up the roses!!!!!!!

  • And by the way what are people talkin about Stone Roses bein Goth ? Geez peace eh ? They were a bit PiL but they were just finding their own sound.Goth to me is The Cult and The Cure certainly NOT The Roses.

  • I agree, the stone roses were the response to to the dreary goth scene, definitely no where near a part of it

  • Fuckin hell Reni can drum.

  • reads loads of comments about the stone roses being certain genres but i thought the stone roses weren't into all that sort of shite. it doesn't matter anyway, i couldnt give two fucks if it was goth, it's still good music...

  • such class :)

  • Amo questo gruppo.

  • wheres theres life theres gotta be hope .. and where theres a will theres a way!

  • reading some earlier comments some people really dont have aclue what they are talking about.... GOTH??? are you retarded??

  • @PhuriousStyles they were goths in the early days! ian brown even said so. this song and most of the early stuff from garage flower has a load to thank for the gothic scene around then.

  • Comment removed

  • ino im 16 n when i play this sort of stuff in school i get asked if im a goth fukin shite generation

  • stone roses!!!!!!

  • amazing song from the stones roses

  • Oh such a musical risk. Oh dear no no...

Hehe. These guys are simply immortal aren't they? Reminds me of a world lost. A real world. A world that spoke to me.

  • Can I rock a fishtail parka and be as mod/cool nowdays!? I think not, but it's still funny. Regardless the music is epic.

  • this aint gothic or heavy!!! maybe a bit punky if anythin!

  • @sebrmc thats an idiotic thing to say. whats wrong with 'heavy' music? if it wasn't for amazing songs like this, ian brown AND john squire wouldn't have evolved the way they did.

  • In the misery dictionary, page after page after page!

People thinking this is a poor attempt at goth by the early Roses should realize that this is a song mocking British youth who sit around and mope when they are...um...so young...and should be doing something with their lives.

As far as the "dark" sound, credit that to Martin Hannett. RIP you fat and crazy bastard genius!

  • where can i download this

  • limewire pro

  • limewire free

  • Finaly found it! I couldnt remember the name of the track, just that it was on garage flower. I think this record is totaly underestimated and does not get mentioned as much as other stone roses, shame?

    Still what a great tune!!!

    WHAT A TUNE!!!

  • wena wena wenaaaaaa

  • Some of the comments here are garbage slating this song. This is a really interesting track and shows the influences that were on the Roses in their early days.

  • its the roses..end of..great tune!

  • magic

  • rubbish lol.

this is when the stone roses were during the fucking awefull goth scene in manchester. there next single changed it all! i love how they totally changed their music style. now the stone roses are ace.

  • Amazing!

  • what a feckin tune!

  • it is brilliant in its own way. definately not accesible for the masses but the song is interesting and catchy

  • ..jffds

  • R.I.P Martin Hannett

  • 1st single and worth a few quid now...

  • 2000 Plymouth, Uk.. this song too strong words coming up to me... still takes me back to that turmoil episode.

  • this band is my life... respect to Manchester city forever.

  • if this band is your life, well people normally say get a life, guess ill have to say - get a band lol!!!! just kidn ya m8, fkn love em 2!!!

  • the best! immense!

  • What a tune, i remember my bro blasting this in '95 and me trying to turn it down by pressing the bottom of the up button.. ahaha. nuts.

  • same year i got given a tape and this was the first song of a mix tape of the roses, back in the days when i would listen to it on my personal stereo washing dishes after school in a shit hotel.. but this made it all worthwhile.. kinda lol!!!!

  • wer can i get this from

  • the complete stone roses album

  • Garage Flower Album also

  • Man Stone Roses Are Lengendary There Music Opened Up A Whole New Era

  • top fuckin DRAW !!!!!!!!!

  • this is mint always gets me going

  • I feel sorry for him if he has to have sex with an old woman tbh.

  • man ur well out of order. is dat wat u do jus start fights on youtube.

  • Ha ha! Brilliant

  • It's like i wanna be adored in that i used to think it was a shit song but then when you listen to it a couple of times you start to like it

  • you thought i wanna be adored was shit??

    the fuck....?

  • That intro is amazing

  • @kingshahine I agree, I love I wanna be Adored, but this song always gets to me. First song on the CD and rightly so. Rock on Stone Roses.

  • Ha! I remember moshing to this song at The Ritz in Manchester in 1986. The whole dancefloor would be bouncing & the whole club singing along. That wz before the Stone Roses did grass roots publicity by graffitiing their name on Manchester Town Hall. Ah, good old days...

  • D Needham, R Dransfield et al, Business for Higher Awards, 1999, Oxford, Heinemann

  • unbelivable song

  • faggot

  • Doesn't sound like Joy Division to me, despite Martin Hannett producing. Reminds me more of X-ray spex or something earlier.

  • Joy division are not bleak.

  • they are mate

  • brown really doesn't like this song, i fuckin love it

  • true pioneers and later to be copied a lot b y other bands.

  • is it me, or do the stone roses do alternative, bleak, ambient post punk better than joy division?

  • theyve done much better but still pretty good

  • Top tune this, I like it. It's not I am the ressurection but still a quality tune

  • who are we kidding! the fact is the stone roses are my favorite band ever and always will be this is just not the PROPPER stone roses. crap song

  • Is it hell. It's a grower and the energy levels are high in the song and it's very in your face.

  • Promising beginning and a great song, despite what the band thinks.

  • I remember hearing this in the 90s loved them ever since i was only around 11 when i heard it back in 95 Oasis came out the year before, ever since ive loved the Stone Roses saw Mr.Brown twice live legend but i think he should stay solo, the Roses are an ancient relic that shouldnt be touched brilliant band gret tune, i picture Liam Gallagher jumping up and down at the Spike Island gig when i here this tune mad image :)

  • well it is a mad one cos liam wasn't ther! it was noel who went to spike island

  • liam didnt go, noel did

  • Amen.

Wonder why they subsequently more or less disowned this.

  • fuckin awesome tune

  • And i've just discovred this jam ^^ !

  • Underrated? They were MASSIVE.

  • I don't think they are underrated , i think it's just that they never sold out to the main stream media, and that's a good thing.

That is why their music is always so raw and original.

Got mad respect for "The Stone Roses",

    these guy's are Buzzin.

  • i agree big time on ur comment bout da roses.

  • love the stone roses, very underated band with so many class tunes!! i wish ian brown and john squire wud put the past behind them...

  • How exactly are the Roses under-rated? They're generally regarded as one of the best British bands ever.

  • True, but there are still soooo many cunts who haven't got a clue who they are

  • dont care wat ya say! der still underated! prob my favourite band!

  • think the only people who say that they are underated are people who base being rated as being a chart band and just dont know their music background and the influence and high regard they have among proper music lovers....

  • top song. fuckin wish i was round back den. love da roses

  • produced by Martin Hannett

  • Responsible for a lot of truly great Madchester tunes!!

    RIP.

  • hannett is a fuckin genius, he'd tell you himself. cant remember, is he still alive?

  • Died in 95 i think, 24 stone and 42 years old. bad times.

  • jesus
