Brings tears to my eyes watching this. Having been a truck driver, I have been to Lubbock, TX hundreds of times. Just being there in Lubbock, thinking about how maybe Buddy stood where I was standing....I'm so happy to see such a wonderful tribute by nothing less than musical geniuses. I've been covering Buddy's songs for years, but I never did them justice. Just trying to keep the memory alive. Keep up the great work!
Me and my father seen these guys live and it was very memorable for us both..dad is passed now but we always hoped we could see them just 1 more time...It was the funnest time I ever had with my dad.....A great night on the town with my daddy!
@MsDoors33 Thank you for sharing that. Where did you see us? It's stories like these that make me love doing this. My Dad died in 2008 and I am so glad he got to see this before he died. He was in tears saying "when did you learn to play like that?" it was pretty funny and I remember that time now when I think of him. Thank you.
VERY GOOD - I know work od Buddy Holy and this is very very close to original. You are Buddy Holly original - you are his reincarnation. When you born? This is this. You are Buddy Holly. I am not first who told that. Buddy - thanx for your nice words on my videos... CHEERS, I love to play Stratocaster too, I have two... yourst is vintage reissue 50s - or original from 50s, hhah... have a nice day, MAN!!! Alex
the more footage I see, the more I love it. Otis, contact me, I would love to write an article on what you guys are doing, and why you do it. because over my years in the biz, I have seen my share of tribute bands, and you guys are as close to perfect as I have seen or heard...ever.
when I first saw this, i thought good cover band but robbing from a dead musician. but i was wrong in thinking that. I didnt take into thought of how we were robbed of Buddy all those years ago. and in a way, anf these guys are simply trying (and in a way succeeding) of keeping Buddy Holly alive in a sense.they do this, and they do it well. and I am a fan! after serious thought, I applaud what these guys do!
True enough - That's why we changed the name of the Band to Buddy Holly Lives from Buddy Holly Live! - The site explains all the details but your point is well taken. Your Buddy, Otis
We always did it to correct the bs in the Buddy Holly Story and to honour Holly by keeping the music alive. Elvis had 24 years, Buddy career was too short and so brilliant - This gives new fans live access and is done with the utmost of reverence and attention to the truth.
good imitation, I'll give it that much. but the idea of making money off of someone else's work and fame sickens me to no end. Buddy Holly was a pioneer, one of the first rock and roll stars ever. and as good as these guys are, the fact they have the balls to call themselves buddy holly live just isnt sitting right with me.
How about all the 1000s of people who were robbed of the real Buddy? Don't we deserve a chance to see somebody do a great imitation of it?
imitation is the ultimate compliment and also helps bring a small taste of a live show we'll never get to see.
They aren't deceiving anyone, we know its not the 'real deal' but we appreciate the extension of a legend and the chance to see a great perfromance, unfortunately there's a pretty big pond between me and Canada so i'll have to settle for the vid
Sl8r - You understand our motivation - sharing the life of Buddy - It's about Buddy Holly Live! not about the death of Buddy Holly. He was energy and life personified - we did not do this to exploit him or make ourselves rich - We did it because it is worth doing and he where it all began. This is our homage to a great man.
You make a valid point. "Buddy Holly Live! - a tribute to Buddy Holly and the Crickets "is a way to focus on his life not his death like the Buddy Holly Story. He died 50 years ago, and we have been doing this for 10 years to delighted audiences - See the show before you judge it - You'll see a very respectful treatment of Buddy. Thank you for your comment.
I have also seen John. My wife and I saw him along with Ray Anthony as Ritchie Valens and J.P. Richardson Jr. as The Big bopper in the "Winter Dance Party" production. One word....FANTASTICK!
Mr. Holly, I think you are amazing! Your music will live on forever! You might be one of my favorite American acts. You and Roy Orbison are my two favorites! I didn't know that Buddy Holly and Roy Orbison were from the same part of Texas. In fact, they were "Next Town Neighbors".
This, to us, is the holy grail of comments. This is why we created Buddy Holly Live! - To tell the real story with real events, real names, real songs, real instruments. Our motivation was in part motivated by the telecaster, the wrong names and the inaccuracies we saw in that movie. Thank you TL250Rider for noticing!
I'm totally impressed, you guys have a great tribute band here and so much talent..If your playing around the Ottawa area anytime soon I'd love to see your show
i when and see buddy holly the story i though it was goin to be shit coz lyk i onli 17 and i when with my nan lol but omg it was great go and see it my mum goin with my nan lol again omg it great :D
elvis was great but buddy created a new sound in only three years... it wasn´t just rockabilly, r n´r, or country... his sound was an advanced pop sound for his age....
nobody knows how high he´d have climbed... maybe the top....
isn't it weird how everything went elvis's way? buddy holly, eddie cochran, richie valens. Like elvis had the stars behind him, like he was never to have competition. Eddie was almost like a twin in his performances? sad
Grat man great music, if you ever want to see a modern song buddy could have written himself go lookk at Fluid B C s Time again track go on google it its fab & the guy looks like Buddy as well

But you should put in the name of the video that it is a cover band so people dont waist their time when their trying to find real video.

This is good better than that movie The Buddy Holly Story.
The Buddy Holly Story
The Movie was really bad
Change The Crickets Names DUMB
When Did Buddy Holly Play a Telecaster.
I remember reading about making the movie then seeing it was almost as bad as Disco Music killing top 40 radio.
