this shows you the great director which is micheal mann is low buget movie and does so much and if you have read the book the most accurate when dealing with Graham
The soundtrack fits really well with the movie. I guess you could say that for quite a few but I especially like this one. I went out and bought it back in the 80s when the movie came out. I don't listen to In da gada da vida. I heard it way too much in the 70s.
I have always loved this film and only rescently thought about soundtrack.....Why taken me so long? What a spanner!. Where do I get from and is it still stupidly expensive?
i love this film this and silence of the lambs are the only lecter movie in my mind this song has a sad sound to it vary haunting i also agee with 63gstone manhunters lecter was better then lambs but Hopkins was good too
This soundtrack is EPIC. I absolutely love Hopkins portrayal of Lecter, but much prefer Manhunter to Red Dragon. Ed Norton and Ralph Fiennes and that idiot Brett Ratner were all mistakes for this picture.
Coelacanth (from Greek koilos "hollow" + akantha "spine", referring to the hollow spines of the fins) is the common name for an order of fish that includes the oldest living lineage of Sarcopterygii (lobe-finned fish + tetrapods) known to date.
I've only seen the film once, but is there any particular reason why this piece is called what it is? I don't recall coelocanths featuring in the film or the novel's themes or imagery
Shriekback are such an amazing band they were born to make these songs for Manhunter, if it wasn't for them i don't think some of the scenes in this Great movie would of been as effective. A Lot of there songs are pure Genius. I don't think they are appreciated enough in the music world to be honest
I absolutely agree. I remember a track on the Band Of The Hand soundtrack titled " Faded Flowers " which is very powerful and haunting. I need to get a compilation cd of their best music.
Alien Manhunter Apocolypse Now Godfather I & 2 Goodfellas Shawshank Redemption Scent of a Woman To Kill a Mockingbird Heat The Shining hon. ment.: Die Hard, Red October, Rosemarys Baby Animal House, Blues Brothers, Caddyshack what did i forget?
manhunter didnt need jodie foster init to be good, both films are good, i think i like manhunter more though because of the soundtrack, the manhunter soundtrack is 10 times better than SOL soundtrack in my opinion, this song and especially "this big hush" are fucking epic. Legend. Classics.
Manhunter is on my top 10 movies of all time...the reason I watched it was because Im a HUGE fan of William Petersen...have been since the age of 10..Im 15 now...so Manhunter for the 1st time..on the 23rd of December 07...I love it so much
of course; i really like it :). kind of feel like a michael mann movie too, even though it's not. you might like some non-william petersen michael mann movies like heat. cheers :)
Might be. The pan flute and shaku, from pieces I've heard, sound similar. Maybe the shakuhachi has a lower register and deeper tone? If so, then this is probably a shaku.
If I'm not mistaken, this particular track incorporates an extensive use of the FAIRLIGHT Synth/Computer system (the Ocarina-like sound?) which around the time this movie was released (1985/1986?) was EXTREMELY popular. Used by Peter Gabriel on his SO LP, as well as by Herbie Hancock, Jan Hammer, etc...
Just finished watching the movie. Bought the collector's DVD's back a few years ago. Would so love the soundtrack. But, thankfully, you posted music here. Thanks!
Thanks for sharing! I always thought the music used for the 'tiger scene' was from Kitaro. Due to your post i learned it's from Shriekback..this song is on the Oil&Gold album.
yup... tiger scene. big fangs... used to watch that movie alot back in the day. Used to have a cassette of the soundtrack but chunked it... now looking to find the music again... thanks for the post!
Fuckin Shreikback, kickass 80's, yet timeless. . .

Fantastic track and along with 'This Big Hush' used beautifully by Mann in the best of the Lecter movies, Manhunter.

(imho) it's one of the best marriage of music and vision in movie history - dark, mysterious, electrifying. and the movie - brilliant.
