  • I love Snapper :)

  • Having just watched a video of the BBC Micro version of Snapper, I guess that Acornsoft either felt or were compelled to alter the graphics for the later release of the Electron version. The BBC version's graphics were probably too close to the arcade original for comfort, whereas the sound appears the same across both BBC and Electron versions.

  • It's a white KC Munchkin.

  • Snapper is yellow, he looks white in this video because of the camera.

  • Another excellent Acornsoft arcade rip-off. That power-pill sound really brings back memories.

  • your not a bad person, I'd rather blow up space ship than eat pellets any day

  • Haha i love the opening of your vids. I probably going to open like that to

  • As for this version, though, ugh! I actually prefer the ghost sprites, they look more natural, or should I say "supernatural" imo but the wailing when you eat a power pellet makes my ears bleed!

  • "Heresy" indeed! You made a comment about it in your NES game, if you recall, that I nearly picked up on but I digress...

I actually share your view. I really can't see the appeal of the original game, other versions, however, are good imo. The Pacman on the Amiga 500 (yes, there's a pattern developing here :P), Super Pacman (A500) and Pacman CE (Xbox 360) are actually GOOD games, particularly the latter.

I think with the original, you kinda had to be there, though you were, so idk. :/

  • Looking a bit like the hungry Horace videogame character.

  • I thought the same thing, when the character is moving sideways. According to wiki Hungry Horace and Snapper where both released in 1982. I wonder which one came first, Maybe Steve can shed some light?

  • Not a clue I'm afraid. I'm inclined to think it's just coincidence though.

This thing looks rather like a lemon with a mouth and a cheap hat, while Horace is more of a deformed zombie teddy-bear that's had it's arms ripped off... or something ;-)

  • I see whats happenend, if you look at the wiki screen shot of this game the main character is as you say, yellow with red eyes and a hat, but in your vid the fine details and colours have been lost due to the youtube compression.

  • This was the first ever video game I played.

  • Same here!

  • My previous video, Monsters features much ultra violent bashing in of heads... though they look more like strawberries than monsters, and the shovel looks more like a weedy twig.

There are 2 games for the Electron that are an absolute must. One everyone should know... one, maybe not... but I'm saving them till last.

    Feeling the suspense yet?

    Muahahahaha! ;-)

  • Looking forward to playing this game badly myself next week! The beeb version apparantley had more pac man like characters but were later changed, this was an electron launch title, been reading up on em. Please tell me the shovel bashing games :P
