  • I also have recordings on cassette of Mr Magic's rap attack, but can somebody tell me what is going on here, is this a DJ set by Marley Marl live in the studio? Who are The Awesome 2?

  • I haven't heard this for years

  • 6:03

  • LATER ON

  • IT WAS 105.9 WNWK

  • To those who tinnk the Def Jam (Jazzy Jay) track came out in 1985, you're wrong. On the flip was Russel Simmons doing his thing. Jazzy Jeff scratched on that side also. I have the original vinyl. I was one of the very few female DJ's in my neighborhood (The Bronx) and bought Def Jam along with Davy DMX "One for the treble."

Oh, I'm a Hip Hop Historian as well.

Last song was The Commodores "Assembly Line".

  • WHBI (2am in the morning)

  • you want too here old school house the real shit...........wbmx chicago...........

  • @mrcrowdog51 This was way before Chicago got it. Mr. Magic is the one who started mixtape radio back in 1980.

With all due respect to Chi-town (I have family there. The Moorehheads. Yep, the one that played for the Chicago bears)

  • I started spinning as a kid in the projects in 1982 wished I was raised in North Jersey to catch this stuff coming off the radio.Maxwell , TDK, Momerex , Real HIP HOP HEADS, YOU WANT A RUSH!!! tune into Dj Mark aka THE 45 KING.

  • As far as I know, the Def Jam track came out in 85". I'm deep in hip hop history and listened to all the radio shows back in the days (i.e. Red Alert, Chuck Chillout, Magic and Marley, Jazzy Jay, Awesome 2, World Famous Supreme Team, DNA and Hank Love, etc.) and I know this joint didn't come out in 83'. This is a fire upload though. Loved it!!!

  • @justeye70d Actually this Def Jam track came out in 1983. On the flip was Def Jam by Russel Simmons. How do I know? I was one of the very few female DJ's in my neigborhood. I bought this with Davy DMX "One for the treble".

I am a Hip Hop Historian who began at age 13 in 1977.
