When bass with fuzz was BOSS! Hard-as-nails! Nothing out there today can stand up to this one! KING TONE! This one goes out to anyone who rode motorcycles in the mid-Sixties!
I was in JH school, had forgotten about these guys, I don't think anyone helped this guy with coryography ....didn't need it... strait from the gut......VERY COOL..THANX
barely remember this song .... but now that i'm hearing again .... sounds pretty darn good .... don't cha think?? ..... nicely recorded .... very talented
I saw these guys play at the Rec Center in Crowley Louisiana back in the sixties. They put on a great show. Also met them in Galveston Texas when they stayed at the same motel as we did one night... Got to talk to them the next morning when they were loading up their van. This was back in the day when bands had to tour every little town to make a living and promote there music.
Lead Singer of The Music Machine, Mr. Sean Bonniwell, exemplified the 1960s rebellion. Listen to his voice and tone, which spoke for on behalf of thousands rebellious teens. Teens could and still will identify with this icon of rock. Teens who were lacking in identity and guidance sought identity in Sean---Thank you The Music Machine for helping teens with social justice…
@riff4u@riff4u And how does that idiot Rush use this song? I can't stand to listen to him much, but I've heard him use the musical introduction from the Pretenders' "My City Was Gone" a few times and had to wonder if he knows that, among other things, the song's attitude towards modern commercial sprawl (i.e. shopping malls and other products of modern capitalism) isn't exactly right-wing.
The band I had played on the same bill with these guys, they had a black glove on one hand when they went on stage, whatever that meant. I didnt get it.
WOOHOO!!! Long Live Rock n Roll!!! I see no conflict with this song and Christian values. Am I wrong? Please enlighten me! Great song! Well done! Thanks
I think this lead singer (and writer) went on to be a born-again Christian. Needless to say, that was THAT for the Music Machine. It was a cool song, for sure!
One of my favorites from the garage/punk era of 1966. Its so great to see a band that I only imagined about from a well worn 45. Still have it, still pull it out and give it a listen now and then.
Love this song!!! I grew up in San Pedro, California. The Music Machine was (and probably still is) the most famous band to come out of San Pedro. Thanks for uploading this!
believe it or not these guys do a very good version of taxman by the beatles..it's on an enhanced two cd compilation set titled /... ' the ultimate turn on '...the second cd/dvd also includes this video
Wow, its like watching the definitive 60s band cool in 1.58 - I heard the song 25 years ago ( when you had to go into an import record shop and dig) but had no idea this gem of a video existed. That should put this on a rocket and send it to another galaxy
Stands up to the test of time. Memorable new sound for 66 or whenever, under two minutes. The Who (Summertime Blues) and Blue Cheer were the closest to having this sound. For some reason they were booked—after "Talk Talk" came out—into a tiny rec hall right by Lake Sammamish. No stage, just set up on the dance floor. I and fewer than a hundred other kids had our eardrums blown out for an hour, maybe two.
Look up Bonniwell Music Machine they were touring a few years ago---Mr. Bonniwell the singer still plays --forget what his first name is-They Rocked--!!!!!--Charlie
to SirHippyVonDippy..either you have a very good sense of humour or you're very young , or both perhaps. you might have better luck finding these guys at forest lawn or maybe even a lawn bowling league perhaps....all kidding aside , this is a fabulous song.. somewhere there is a compilation cd with this track included on it..cannot remember the title though as my copy 'vanished' a long time ago, as all really good cd's do eventually...probably with a pile of laundromat socks somewhere
I SAW THESE GUY'S AT THE HULLABALOO IN HOLLYWOOD AND THE DJ...SAYS...AND NEXT WEEK..JIMI HENDRIX FROM ENGLAND IS GOING TO BE HERE ..we all looked at eachother and said...who's that?? so we didnt go....how DUMB..............oh and the seeds came out next. those where the days....
To kboy20--"lightning in a bottle". It couldn't be better described! I used to listen to this thing over and over again until it drove my mother nuts! And the way it ends makes you feel like you just fell off a chair--you just GOTTA hear it again! The next tune on my spindle was always "Who do you love" by a Detroit group called "The Woolies". If I can find my 45, I'll post it if its not up already. DON'T LET ANYONE SCREW WITH YOUTUBE!!!!!!!!!!
One minute and 57 seconds of pure sonic pleasure. Sean Bonniwell ( I think that was his name) and the boys really caught lightning in a bottle with this gem. Oh, baby. And don't forget the teenaged angst lyrics--I've gotta look them up becuz some are hard to git.
Hi there! You got it! They don't know a damn thing about making GOOD music. Back then music was new and exciting(It had it's crap too). Nowadays, as in anything, corporations ruined it. It is now and for many years that they will promote junk. Most of the stuff out today and the last 20-25 years would've died on the charts if it was released back in 1966. There are so many great songs from the 1950's and 1960's that no one will ever hear, and that's the sad thing. I am glad I have heard them.
This music scared my parnets and it scared my kids. They are older now (kids) and don't think I'm an old goof anymore. They can listen to it, but don't like it anymore than they did years ago. Too bad...
The lead singer is playing a Martin electric. The lead guitar player is playing a Guild Starfire The same model that Skip Spence is seen playing on the back cover of the 1st Moby Grape album. Damn I'm old!
Amazing video. They were well ahead of their time. What an incredibly tight band. I really love the opening with the drummer. I am not sure if I have seen such a cool drummer circa 1966.
Cool that you have an open mind about classic (a.k.a. oldies) music. Today's teens have much to learn about culture and social justice...Teens can cross this bridge through 60s music....Keep on enjoying....

This band was wearing a glove on 1 hand 20 years bofore Michael jackson. Wonder who he copied the idea from.
BTW, Hendrix did play in England, but he was from the U.S. I'm a little surprised a DJ made that mistake.
