  • sounds sort of like John Kay

  • One glove.... hummm.

  • When bass with fuzz was BOSS! Hard-as-nails! Nothing out there today can stand up to this one! KING TONE! This one goes out to anyone who rode motorcycles in the mid-Sixties!

  • I was in JH school, had forgotten about these guys, I don't think anyone helped this guy with coryography ....didn't need it... strait from the gut......VERY COOL..THANX

  • That song was ahead of its time. Very intense.

  • Very heavy sound for that time.... cool.

  • MY NAME IS MUD? I wonder if Les Claypool has heard this before? LOL

  • Great reminder! Thanks!!!

  • barely remember this song .... but now that i'm hearing again .... sounds pretty darn good .... don't cha think?? ..... nicely recorded .... very talented

  • wonder if he still has that old Gretsch--wow!

  • I saw these guys play at the Rec Center in Crowley Louisiana back in the sixties. They put on a great show. Also met them in Galveston Texas when they stayed at the same motel as we did one night... Got to talk to them the next morning when they were loading up their van. This was back in the day when bands had to tour every little town to make a living and promote there music.

  • Lead Singer of The Music Machine, Mr. Sean Bonniwell, exemplified the 1960s rebellion. Listen to his voice and tone, which spoke for on behalf of thousands rebellious teens. Teens could and still will identify with this icon of rock. Teens who were lacking in identity and guidance sought identity in Sean---Thank you The Music Machine for helping teens with social justice…

  • One hand gloved, way before 'The Gloved One'? Loved these cats. Very heavy before heavy was cool.

  • I remember this song way back then. For it's time it was heavy.

  • Gene Vincent wore a black glove on one hand way before anyone else.

  • I love this song........it's too bad that lard ass idiot Rush Limbaugh took it over.

  • @riff4u @riff4u And how does that idiot Rush use this song? I can't stand to listen to him much, but I've heard him use the musical introduction from the Pretenders' "My City Was Gone" a few times and had to wonder if he knows that, among other things, the song's attitude towards modern commercial sprawl (i.e. shopping malls and other products of modern capitalism) isn't exactly right-wing.

  • This band was wearing a glove on 1 hand 20 years bofore Michael jackson. Wonder who he copied the idea from.

BTW, Hendrix did play in England, but he was from the U.S. I'm a little surprised a DJ made that mistake.

  • perhaps Stooges knew of these cats? similar

  • remember "little bit o' soul" .... faintly remember this one .... but ..... very talented group ... sound way ahead of their time.

  • The band I had played on the same bill with these guys, they had a black glove on one hand when they went on stage, whatever that meant. I didnt get it.

  • @Building529 Lucky you - I loved these guys back then

  • sweet

  • Most badass, for sure! I'd never heard anything like it back in '66 (maybe Blue Cheer's Summertime Blues came close).

Good pre-Zep, ACDC, but it stands on its own even today.

  • possibly the most bad ass song of all time.

  • very psychodelic thankgod, great song

  • mid sixties rock band from LA. sweet guitar riffs, a bit psychedelic !

  • bellissima!!!

  • One of the best, if not the best recorded fuzztone riffs of the 60s.....very powerful and electric..

  • WOOHOO!!! Long Live Rock n Roll!!! I see no conflict with this song and Christian values. Am I wrong? Please enlighten me! Great song! Well done! Thanks

  • You can even look at porn if you want. The Bible says "all things are lawful." God wants you to have fun.

  • I think this lead singer (and writer) went on to be a born-again Christian. Needless to say, that was THAT for the Music Machine. It was a cool song, for sure!

  • Just went to a Class of 69 40th HS Reunion last night. This fit perfectly.

  • tuff as nails!!

  • One of my favorites from the garage/punk era of 1966. Its so great to see a band that I only imagined about from a well worn 45. Still have it, still pull it out and give it a listen now and then.

  • Great post! We used to cover this in my punk band in 1980.

  • My brothers and I use to sing and dance to this song when we were little!

    Still love it!

    peace

  • love this

  • Love this song!!! I grew up in San Pedro, California. The Music Machine was (and probably still is) the most famous band to come out of San Pedro. Thanks for uploading this!

  • Where the hell are the dancing people?!?

  • believe it or not these guys do a very good version of taxman by the beatles..it's on an enhanced two cd compilation set titled /... ' the ultimate turn on '...the second cd/dvd also includes this video

  • Love, love, love this one!!!!!

  • Wow, its like watching the definitive 60s band cool in 1.58 - I heard the song 25 years ago ( when you had to go into an import record shop and dig) but had no idea this gem of a video existed. That should put this on a rocket and send it to another galaxy

  • Stands up to the test of time. Memorable new sound for 66 or whenever, under two minutes. The Who (Summertime Blues) and Blue Cheer were the closest to having this sound. For some reason they were booked—after "Talk Talk" came out—into a tiny rec hall right by Lake Sammamish. No stage, just set up on the dance floor. I and fewer than a hundred other kids had our eardrums blown out for an hour, maybe two.

  • Great time capsule.

    Great lighting.

    I remember this song.

It was played on the radio all the time for a while.

  • Im GROOVIN..A+ I love it..

    thanks

  • Look up Bonniwell Music Machine they were touring a few years ago---Mr. Bonniwell the singer still plays --forget what his first name is-They Rocked--!!!!!--Charlie

  • Sean Bonniwell

  • WOW!! These guys are cool.I like the all black.Where do they tour at???????? I looked for tickets on Ticketmaster and couldnt find dick.

  • well at leadt you amuse yourself

  • to SirHippyVonDippy..either you have a very good sense of humour or you're very young , or both perhaps. you might have better luck finding these guys at forest lawn or maybe even a lawn bowling league perhaps....all kidding aside , this is a fabulous song.. somewhere there is a compilation cd with this track included on it..cannot remember the title though as my copy 'vanished' a long time ago, as all really good cd's do eventually...probably with a pile of laundromat socks somewhere

  • for some reason this reminds me of tom waits

  • Thank you so much for sharing this video! a shining gem from the 1960's!

  • cool song man

  • kickass band and song

  • Another favorite high school song's aged so well...

  • i always thought this cool song was too short...i wanted more!

  • this song came out in '67. good year for music!

  • Very cool seeing this one - TY!

  • I love this song, is marvellous

  • Cute title, but black outfit like graveyard with like satanic hair style and heavy sound.

  • satanic?

  • I SAW THESE GUY'S AT THE HULLABALOO IN HOLLYWOOD AND THE DJ...SAYS...AND NEXT WEEK..JIMI HENDRIX FROM ENGLAND IS GOING TO BE HERE ..we all looked at eachother and said...who's that?? so we didnt go....how DUMB..............oh and the seeds came out next. those where the days....

  • What's the deal with the black glove worn on the right hand of every band member, to include the drummer?

  • Art Laboe This was and is your best production You great You have one Fault

    Phil Spector Wall Of Sound

    Barry Gordie Motown

    Art Laboe Disco Gangbanger

  • the singer sounds like arthur lee. i really dig this

  • wow, they sound a lot like Love

  • To trailofdead19.....It looks like a Martin GT75 he's playing

  • To kboy20--"lightning in a bottle". It couldn't be better described! I used to listen to this thing over and over again until it drove my mother nuts! And the way it ends makes you feel like you just fell off a chair--you just GOTTA hear it again! The next tune on my spindle was always "Who do you love" by a Detroit group called "The Woolies". If I can find my 45, I'll post it if its not up already. DON'T LET ANYONE SCREW WITH YOUTUBE!!!!!!!!!!

  • I remember seeing them on the Paul Revere and the Raiders show, "Happening"

  • does anyone what guitar the singer is paying please?

  • One minute and 57 seconds of pure sonic pleasure. Sean Bonniwell ( I think that was his name) and the boys really caught lightning in a bottle with this gem. Oh, baby. And don't forget the teenaged angst lyrics--I've gotta look them up becuz some are hard to git.

  • Still sounds great after all these years- why is music today so lame in comparison??

  • Hi there! You got it! They don't know a damn thing about making GOOD music. Back then music was new and exciting(It had it's crap too). Nowadays, as in anything, corporations ruined it. It is now and for many years that they will promote junk. Most of the stuff out today and the last 20-25 years would've died on the charts if it was released back in 1966. There are so many great songs from the 1950's and 1960's that no one will ever hear, and that's the sad thing. I am glad I have heard them.

  • Punkers from the 80s, bow down to these guys, along with the Leaves and Love. They were the ORIGINAL PUNKERS.

  • In a word "GROOVY"

  • EXCELLENT!!!!!!

    Ah, Those WHERE the days!!!!!

  • out fucking ragous, great songs ever

  • Very nice ... damn it was a privilege to grow up during the garage band era !

  • like arousing jealousy?

    ha.

check out the time warp known as The Strange Boys. they have youtube vids, you might enjoy them.

  • This music scared my parnets and it scared my kids. They are older now (kids) and don't think I'm an old goof anymore. They can listen to it, but don't like it anymore than they did years ago. Too bad...

  • Excellent song....watching the video helps showcase the talent of the drummer.

  • and his kick-ass black glove.

  • lol

  • Feel the power. A nice one

  • The drummer is great to watch! so deadpan-like a real-life Jughead Jones!

  • Why Mr. Clarc ? the vid you took back was the better of the 2

  • I liked that ending with the Talk Talk. kind of sounded a little like the Strawberry Alarm Clock for a sec. or two also.

  • I haven't heard this in years. Cool!!!

  • ROCK ON

  • the Demics did a killer cover of this on one of their records.

  • Classic. Great modal tonality. Tight drumming.

  • The Music Machine is the best band for me.

    Great clip and men...

  • great and underrated group, they were obviously influenced by love!

  • I think I also hear Animals influence here.

  • Performing with one gloved hand when Michael Jackson was in diapers.

  • baroque, enigmatic, seminal and contemporary all at the same time. fucking amazing song...

  • Was, is, and will always be the favorite song of my misspent youth. Music machine ROCKED!

  • The lead singer is playing a Martin electric. The lead guitar player is playing a Guild Starfire The same model that Skip Spence is seen playing on the back cover of the 1st Moby Grape album. Damn I'm old!

  • Your body might have aged but your mind is still boppion' along.

  • Amazing video. They were well ahead of their time. What an incredibly tight band. I really love the opening with the drummer. I am not sure if I have seen such a cool drummer circa 1966.

  • The Music Machine were so ahead of their time, both music and fashion wise...love their style!

  • What the heck is that guitar the singer is playing? Never seen one like it.

  • OK,THIS IS 100% GARAGE PUNK!!

  • Awesome video and audio!

  • RIPPIN punk rock, 10 years early!

  • wow! this is amazing! i almost skipped it thinking it was the "usual" clip!

    FANTASTIC!!!

  • Good job Cavey, please keep this neanderthal stuff coming!

  • I work right next door to San Pedro Ca. This came from there. I drive thru the town thinking about this band

  • I got the 45 of this from my uncle when I was 10 - I think I still have it. Cool song, I've always liked it.

  • Out of Mansfield, OH

  • nice video! I didnt know this band from the 60's

  • @oxalicman

Cool that you have an open mind about classic (a.k.a. oldies) music. Today's teens have much to learn about culture and social justice...Teens can cross this bridge through 60s music....Keep on enjoying....
