  • This is amazing!

  • No joke, I also never comment on videos, but I watched this video a few years ago and I just recently remembered it when looking through my sheet music. I showed it to my friend and we both just cried (another thing I never do). You are such an intelligent singer and I appreciate the amazing and deep connection you found in the text. Inspiring.

  • Like another person said, I never comment on videos. But I have to. This is amazing. Just simply fantastic, and I'm so grateful that I could even get the chance to watch this video. Thank you for inspiring me in so many ways. You are beautiful and talented beyond words.

  • Thank you for your beautiful, individual and thoughtful interpretation. So refreshing. :)

  • This was absolutely stunning. It brought a different perspective to this song that works beautifully. I can't stop watching it.

  • I had to revisit this and share it on facebook. Wow. This talent is stunning.

  • It's really nice to see someone acting. That part is left out so much in Musical Theatre these days.

  • I never, ever, comment on videos. But I simply have to here. Your performance has given the character a totally different angle, and I think that you have exposed a far more beautiful side to this story than simply the comedic said that most people play. Well done, bravo! I am impressed.

  • I love your voice!!

    I also love your performance!!

You are amazing and I wish you the best of luck in your future!!!!

  • Amazing voice & acting. I love it!

  • Damn. This is one of those performances that are gonna make all the others seem silly. Totally worth it though. Amazing.

  • This song just proves that 'living the dream' doesn't always mean living your own dream.

  • This is my absolute favourite interpretation of this song. You're an extraordinary actress and you have a beautiful voice. Best of luck for whatever's in the future :) (PS - always go for the good guy, not the one with the money)

  • wow she's good...

  • This is the best interpretation I've seen yet. At first, I thought it was going to be a ho-hum performance. But I absolutely love this version. The humorous interpretations are nice, but this is deeper and leaves the audience with a better understanding of the piece. Fantastic job.

  • I thought that the expression on your face was beautiful, and so was your voice.

  • Wow I'd forgotten about this video...just watched it for the first time in a year or two, and still love it just as much. This song is fantastic when it's played for laughs too, but this version is just so different. It's so simple and truthful, full of regret and disbelief at her own stupidity...emotions that I didn't even notice in the humorous version but which now seem incredibly obvious, and which make even the best comedy interpretations seem hammy. Beautiful :)

  • I guess I'm the only one who doesn't like this version. Your voice is beautiful, but the acting was really boring for me. The emotion was there, but it was too interior. When everything's going on inside you, it leaves the audience with nothing to do. I couldn't feel anything because you were already feeling everything.

  • @joltgoddess It sounds to me like you prefer bad acting. If the actor isn't feeling things "interior" then no amount of externalized movement will ever be true. This acting is raw, honest, gutsy and incredibly real. Thank GOD she was not doing what you seem to think is good acting.

  • I was looking for this song as sung by Audra McDonald on youtube... to post on my Facebook page. I love it's message.

    Then I found your version.

Hannah... this is a BRILLIANT! Sooo truly felt, so clearly in your heart and eyes... You blow Audra out of the water! THIS is the version I posted on my FB Wall.

As a fellow Actor, my hats off to you... I wish you a rich and satisfying and WONDERFUL Career Hannah!!! And please, don't settle for anything less than the Moon.

  • my faveorite video of this song

  • I never comment on videos, but this is some of the best acting I have ever seen with this song. well done.

  • amazing voice, amazing emotion

  • GREAT GREAT job!! probably one of the best i've ever seen

  • Wow! What a fantastic job! So much emotion!

  • This is possibly the best acted version of this song.

  • i think the nervousness that some of the viewers are noticing is actually character interpretation that really works with the song... like the use of her hands demonstrates that singing (or just thinking) about regrets is nerve wracking

    wonderful job!

  • OMG

that was beautiful. So emotional and just a beautiful voice to top it off!!!!! ahhhhhh!

  • what a crackin performance! your great!!! x

  • Best interpretation I've heard...more true to the whole sentiment of the piece...just beautiful...if Judy Garland had been around to sing this I think she would have sung it like this...that's saying something about your instincts as an artist!

  • I completely agree.

  • ur an amazin actress!! x

  • You look nervous but sound confident and good.

  • wow this was...extremely honest. I love this song, and love how people can perform it so differently. To this day, I have yet to see someone take this honest, heartfelt approach. This is splendid. Great actress.

  • amazing..

  • AMAZING!

  • Great Job!

  • As a fellow singer and performer that has performed this song I have to say that you rendition here is simply amazing and you should be incredibly proud of the depth and beauty you brought to this performance. I admire your talent. :)

  • wow! in the moment much?!?! you tore it up!!! nice work.

  • Weird that i listen to this all the time because i love it so much? i hope not... cuz im going to anyways...

  • hahaha ian i just read this. you're a freak.

  • Lol. My name isn't Ian and I don;t know you. LOL. I'm Rodney and I'm a singer and I'm obsessed with this song.

Your performance was the best I've heard... honestly.

  • oh haha that was a response to a different comment. sorry!

    thanks though!!

  • Hi, my name IS Ian, and i guess im kinda a freak. A freak about this song and you singing it! I'm still showing it off

  • You sound so honest, like really sad and like you're (or your character) is actually reliving everything all over again, not trying to belive anything but the truth; that you married for money not love and stars and moon. I LOVE IT!

  • goosebumps!!!!

  • wow! this is flawless! the only thing that i think would make it better is if you added a little humor.

    but its still fantastic! =]

  • u r soooooo good

  • A wonderful performance of a wonderful song. When my daughter performed this song they added bongos in the background. It gave it a whole new sound. You have an outstanding voice. P.S. I have been a professional music contest judge for 30 years.

  • that is the most amazing performance of this song I have ever seen. It truly blew my MIND! bravo! Absolutely perfect.

  • I've been listening to so many versions of this song and I must say that you are the best one yet! Your voice gives me chills. I love it!

  • You know, I thought I'd rather have the humor. But I was completely wrong, it's so powerful this way. Your voice is amazingly strong and honest. This performance is touching.

  • thank you so much, it means a lot!

  • This is truly beautiful... I'd always loved this song but this is such a lovely, subtle, emotional version. The best I've seen :) Good luck!

  • thanks so much!!

  • this is honestly one of my favorite pieces to perform, but you were fabulous! the 2 times i have sang it for a choir concert, i managed to bring my directors (not to mention the majority of the audience) to tears. i love how you sang it so emotionally yet so easily. it can be difficult with this piece in particular to recognize every rhythm accurately, but you did it with such ease. absolutely fabulous. i love the tone of your voice as well, such a beautiful instrument! gives me goosebumps.

    -K

  • That was absolutely amazing. I know I'm not the first to tell you so, but thank you for the subtelty. People ham up this song too much. That was incredible and inspiring.

  • I really like the timbre of your voice.

I'm also glad you did this in its original key (right?). I did this a little while ago and had to transpose it because it's pretty low.

    I really enjoyed this!

  • wow great job...love the emotion!

  • that was so absolutely incredible and touching and brilliant and refreshing and amazing and gorgeous and just sooooo soooo completely naturally fantastic

  • Heartbreaking interpetation. You actually tell a sad, solemn story. All that regret, remorse... When I've heard this song in the past I've never quite felt sorry for the driven, selfish bitch. You truly infuse her with the catastrophic realization that her choices were irrevocable. Brava!!!!

  • thank you so much. i did a lot of work on this, its so nice to hear that it was communicated well. thanks!

  • I cant tell you how much I LOVE your version of this. I've been telling everyone who thinks they can cover this song to check it out...You have a gorgeous voice but your acting is SUPERB. Are you mainly looking at a musical career? I could see you doing serious drama/tragedy.

  • And damn, I looked at your profile and you're only 19 !!!!! Where the hell does this intensity come from?? You are definitely slated for BIG,BIG things....

  • Hah, my profile lied, I'm actually 18. haha, but yeah I am currently studying at NYU's Tisch school of the arts in CAP21.

you are so kind, thank you so much!

  • One more observation from an old, battle-scarred theatre veteran...You say that you did "a lot of work on this",but guess what- it doesn't seemed "worked" at all---It seems EFFORTLESS...the sign of a TRUE gift. And it's great you are in NYC and studying at a great school. Now give us some more!!!!

  • gee, you make me blush. thanks so much, you keep making my day! if i have any more videos, i will be sure to post them! thank you thank you thank you!

  • clear, easy, and beautiful!! thank you for giving a nice rendition or a sometimes over-sung song :)

  • such an honest performance, you sold me.

  • shes got a really clear voice. the front row looks a bit empty tho! best version on youtube i think. beautiful high notes! so clear!!!

  • haha those seats weren't available for audience...i guess it does look kinda sad though....haha

    thanks for the nice comments!

  • wasn't this song originally written for a musical about three girls that didn't know what they had and the value of love? I thought this was a three person song !?! I'm not sure. What do you think?

  • No, maybe you are thinking of something else. This is from Songs For a New World by Jason Robert Brown. Its a musical revue for two guys and two girls. This song is for one woman looking back on her life.

I wouldn't be surprised if there is a similar song that is meant for three singers.

  • this is my favorite performance of this song! great job!

  • wow your ah-mazing :]

  • hannah, you're amazing. i'm so glad you got to sit on the stage for hot mikado! it was so much fun, but it wasn't the same without you!

  • Really strong and original rendition:)
