  • buy the time it goes to sale its going to be pos old tech outdated pos. and gm will go down anyway

  • the techie chic is hot!! i want here to have my babies!!! ha ha ha ha!!

  • that's right its a auto show that's all folks

  • this is a funny video GM so funny ha aha haa .............you suck

  • did u see the lincvolt car neil young the singer is trying to build?i'm betting the possibility of a 100 mpg 1959 lincoln could be done.i thank neil young for putting his money time and life into this.

he needs our support as much as the world needs his right now i think.

    check out his car here

    lincvolt

  • why did GM sell nimh battery patents to the Oil companies the enemy ?

then killed the EV-1 project and went ahead and bought HUMMER from AMC

    WTF !!

  • Fucken liars they have built them before but destroyed them. Because they couldn't make money out of spare parts. This car will not even get of the production line but they will ask for money from the government for bail outs. A company isn't a company if it asks for money from the government.

  • they sold the nimh battery patents to the oil company so no one including the competition could make one

they are not serious about this....its a publicity stunt

  • They should have given the bailout money to Tesla! At least they are making the only electric car that actually goes more than 100 miles. GM killed the EV1 so they can die. Even if they get the bailout cash we are still not going to buy this crap car! Can someone tell me what the hell Lutz knows about cars?? That guy looks lost, I wonder what he had to do to become VP

  • 40 miles........This car sucks looks good thats all some people see

  • whens the Electric Hummer H1 gonna come out ?

    in 2021 ?

  • The Volt concept car (estimated $30K price) was cool, but the Volt production car (estimated $40K to $48K) is hideous and bland. Nobody is going to pay $40K to $48K for a vehicle that automobile critics have dubbed "Grandma's electric vehicle". You can get TWO Toyota Prius cars for the price of the one Volt.

  • bullshit it is so difficult to belive in this

  • Talk is Cheap! this is the most talked vehicle that doesn't still exist.

if gas was $2 a gallon today theyd still be pushing HUMMERS ! and this science project will not even exist at all.

  • I had high hopes for the Chevy Volt, but GM is just not cutting it. The body change now looks like a cross between a Malibu and a Prius, the price increase will probably put it out of my budget. Toyota is supposed to have a plug in Prius coming out also at about the same time. Chrysler has now also said it will have not 1 but 3 plug in hybrids with similar technology and more range. If this happens GM is once more just mediocre and behind in the game again!

  • its just another Hybrid its not an electric car though it runs on electric motors a Petrol engine generates the electricity after the battery runs out so like a diesel-electric train

so its just an expensive hybrid that will cost you $35k`$40K

hybribs from its competitors have been on the road the last 11 years this is still not in production til 2010 ,2011 if its not delayed even more

  • fck gm they fcked transformes movie they better get shit right. this why the american automakers are gonna disappear making this fcking jokes promoting fcking hybrids that have a 31 mpg. but let's hope that we are wrong and they make this car so i can get one of those motherfcka.

  • fuck you Bob Lutz you pig cunt

  • What a fucking joke, they are just using this POS to try and show that an electric car is impractical, even though the proved the opposite 10 years ago with the EV1

  • dumbass its not all electric...it's an electric with a gas enine that recharges the batteries after they deplete....it's called eflex.

  • Its an uglier car than the EV-1, and can only go 1/3 as far on electricity. What a joke and indicator of the despicable state General Motors is in. I keep telling friends to SELL all their GM stock, but they never learn.

  • General Motors is gettting to be SO much of a joke. If you search on Electric Car on YouTube, you'll see so many people taking a beat up car or jeep and doing a homemade con-version to totally electric. This E-FLEX nonsense. Where am I supposed to get the money for a fuel-cell, or where am I supposed to buy hydrogen. They'd be much better off just making the 1999 EV-1 again.

  • there's my car!(when i get my license.)

  • noone is gonna buy this if this cost more than a lexus

  • i thought they killed the electric car, why is is back alive again??? or GM plans to take over the market???

  • Watch who killed the electric car, they already had the tech 100 years ago. This is bullshit.

  • GM would use existing Nickel or Lead batteries, if it were serious about the VOLT.

GM is not including the VOLT in its CAFE planning, which would allow them to meet 35 mpg immediately, because they know it's not part of their plans.

It's not about a science project, it's about PR B.S.

  • Detroit newspapers recently reported an assembly plant for the Volt has been assigned in southeast Michigan. Lithium batteries are being tested this fall (2007) in test vehicles. Lithium was chosen for greater storage capacity and lighter weight.

  • You know how GM keeps saying that the battery is the problem. And all those vids that show the Volt driving around. And it makes the weirdest loudest noise. I think they can't even find good engineers to make the electric motor or put all the electric compoents together properly. Since so many people heard about the EV-1 and Cobasys NiMH battery. I bet all the good engineers wouldn't work for GM. So they ended up hiring retards to put the Volt together. Thats why it is taking so long.

  • man this show looks like if it came back from the 80s, the voice over, the curtains, the music... somebody shoot the producer

  • Lithium is the next target on GM's EV assassination list.

  • I wonder if this is just a way for them to get main stream attention, without actually selling an electric car.

  • This car is the optimal hybrid. Because the gas engine only generates electricity, just one drive train instead of two like the prius(heavy). It will be a fast car. Over a hundred mph. The reason for only 40 miles on a charge is for performance. More would equal more weight. This car will be 30,000 or less. Compared to a tesla, 100 k now, maybe 60k years from now.

  • looks like gm might off to a good start. But why are they making it a hybrid. Why not put more batteries and make it fully electric? We know they could make it so much better.

  • I hear you there, but as a person who owns only one car, I feel like the key is to have a very long range when you need it for road trips on occasion that you can simply put gas in (a 2 min process) as opposed to charge(current technology means 2 hours). Long range battery only volts should be an option though.

  • 1. The design works. It's basically a fully electric car, with a small/cheap battery pack, and a small gasoline generator which does nothing but provide electricity. (Which goes a long way to reducing the weight and cost of the car.)

    2. They are going to take for damned ever to create it. (4 years from now)

    greyfalcon. net/ volt

    3. Pheonix motors is going to beat them to the punch by atleast 2-3 years.

    greyfalcon. net/ quickcharge

  • There is a question being asked to GM shareholders on Yahoo! Answers.

If you own GM stock, go to "Yahoo! Answers" and search for "GM Shareholder proposal for action vote?"

  • Ha ha ha ha, this is such a piece of crap. 40 mile range. Hmm, i guess you could or, you could get the tesla roadster and get a 200 mile range.

  • Not just 40 miles... it can do 40 miles using only electric power stored in the batteries, after which (as said in the video) the petrol engine supplies charge to the batteries. It can go 640 miles, does that suck? First 40 is cheap as, and costs hardly anything - That's the idea, and its sweeet.

  • Although you are saving money on the first 40 miles, it still runs on gasonline, so i can't really call this an electric car. 640 miles is a plus, but you esentially have 2 motors, witch means it wieghs ALOT and probebly has no real power.

  • If GM's only source of income were from electric hybrids like the Chevy Volt, they'd be making millions of them. "Stop buying or leasing NEW gasoline powered cars". See my vids.

  • There is no law saying a car company has to provide parts. However it is very profitable, and it's GM policy to provide them for at least 8 years. Even if they sold these cars to people under a special no liability contract, there is always the possibility of them finding some loophole.

Get over it. It wasn't a good vehicle and it was very expensive. They were just testing the water, which is why they were lease only. GM is doing the same thing RIGHT NOW with Hydrogen vehicles.

  • I wonder why they don't use a 1 or 2 cylinder in this and double the batteries to give it 80 mile range on a charge. On long trips you could run the generator from the start giving you virtually the same fuel range as having a 3 cylinder. I think they are underestimating the entrepreneurs who will provide electric charging stations for these. GM had better get these to market fast, zap and others are marketing cars with even more impressive performance already.

  • I think this car is simply amazing. I understand it will be near 30Gs though. With its own generator, will it be able to keep my house lit when the power goes out?

  • Yeah, the battery alone will be about $10K

  • The Chevy Volt is not an "all-electric" car, it's a plug-in hybrid that is powered from both grid electricity and gasoline. Every time GM refer to it as an electric car, they are just attempting to mislead and confuse people.

  • not sure that's entirely true. but everytime they make a concept car without intending to sell it...

A car that can run well for a decent minimum range on batterypower and is recharged electrically is close enough in my book to be a good start. the prius is bullshit by comparison for instance

  • The Volt concept is an excellent start. Anyone notice GM were very careful with their words as not to bring up any aspects of the EV1 debarkle.

  • GM really screwed up with the EV1.

  • They did no such thing. They built a car and tried as hard as hell to market it. Nobody wanted it. Honda was building cars similar to the EV1 and they couldn't sell them either. Everything that was in that movie was a joke.

  • who does your thinking for you? you work in a business related to big oil?

  • Who does your thinking for you, Michael Moore? It was a business decision. That car could go 90 miles on a full charge if you didn't drive over 60 mph, didn't turn the radio or AC/heater on, and didn't drive up hill. It took a full 6 hours to re-charge. Who wants a car like that. All you conspiracy theorists are nut jobs.

  • 4000 people on a waiting list is a hint

forcing them out of the hands of people paying for them is another. crushing them in the desert, hiding from public eyes because they are ashamed. they turned down millions of dollars for the remaining few cars with no strings attached. some business decision eh. and if noone wants electric cars, why are they making new ones now...

and the range was 120 miles for the gen2 EV-1

  • They're not electrics, they're hybrids. There was no waiting list of 4000 people. And even if there was, that's not nearly enough. Do you know how big GM is? If they can't sell at least 25,000 of something in a year it isn't worth their time. Why don't you ask Honda why they scrapped their program?

  • if they were so wrong howcome they are pretending to make new ones again..

the mark of evil is to avoid uncomfortable questions. I'm sure all the EV makers made the decision based on the same corruption as GM did. If you weren't to damn dumb you would realize that if the cost of them was the problem they would atleast sells those that were made... but they didn't want electric cars to exist. not a single one

  • It's not a new one, it's a freakin' hybrid. This thing has a range of more than 90 miles, you can actually drive this thing.

Have you asked why GM would want to destroy these cars? There is no plausible reason. Contrary to what you believe, the auto companies don't plot global domination w/ the oil companies. Everybody around here pretty much hates the oil companies and hates when gas prices rise. You can lead a jackass to water, but you can't make him drink...

  • do you deny that they did destroy them?

out of 1117 EV-1s built not a single one is still driving

  • They did, but not for the conspiracy reasons you state. There just weren't any buyers and the program had been scrapped. Why would they sell the existing cars if they weren't going to be able to make replacement parts availible?

  • because people protested for weeks outside wanting to buy the cars with no obligation for parts for millions of dollars

  • No, they didn't. What you saw was a film stunt by the director outside the Ren Cen. BTW, there are federal regulations stipulating that you have to provide replacement parts for X amount of years after the cars are manufactured.

Again, why isn't everybody busting down the doors at Honda? I don't get why everybody is out to get GM, they haven't done anything that anybody else in the industry hasn't done and they're one of the biggest employers in the US and they provide very good wages.

  • First, they are ALL guilty. GM just happens to be the most obviously guilty in this case.

You claim they are lying when they offered to buy the cars without strings attached. how the fuck do you know that? also please show me that law which requires them to provide parts that cannot be voided by an agrreement to release GM from that obligation. but of course you wont do that you liar.

lastly, have you ever worked for GM? or been paid as a result of GM business
