Uematsu just did the Boss Battle Song I, not even II, and another song I don't remember now, and they credited Uematsu, who is a real crap compared to Mitsuda. Uematsu just have few songs to save his name, because most of them are actually annoying, in my opinion, as he repeats too much the same melody, without creativity...
I never knew they didn't credit Mitsuda for the music, even though he composed about 90% of the tracks. Uematsu only composed 1-2 tracks. Interesting.
@SmaddyDiva Oh, what the hell. Fuck you Squaresoft!! ...no wonder Mitsuda went freelance. He composed 80-85% of the soundtrack, gave his heart and soul to it, got sick because he was working so hard and that's the thanks he got? Un-fucking-believable.
@bobomber Yeah, they've been less than honorable for quite a while now. Also, they haven't really published anything worth playing since the PSX era. I know lots of people that would debate that point, but they're wrong.
@aquasaber I completely agree with that statement. Square published Mario RPG and Chrono Trigger, easily my favorite games...but now they can't make a decent game to save their lives. Even going back to the PSX, the only thing really special about Chrono Cross was the soundtrack (composed by Mitsuda, NOT Uematsu). FF9 was pretty good...I guess. ;)
@bobomber PSX games produced/published by Squaresoft in the U.S. (before the merger with Enix): Tobal #1, Final fantasy VII, VIII, and IX, Bushido Blade 1 &2, Final Fantasy Tactics, Ergheiz, SaGa Frontier, Einhänder (a personal favorite), Xenogears, Final Fantasy Anthology and Origins AND Chronicles (all re-releases, but all great games within), Parasite Eve 1 & 2, Brave Fencer Musashi (love it), a slew of Chocobo games... the list goes on and on. That was probably their most profitable time.
@aquasaber Growing up in the mid-90s, I got into RPGs starting with FFIII (VI). I then went and found every game I could that had Squaresoft's name on it, and played it. Back then, you really couldn't go too wrong. Now, it's really a shame what has happened. I'll never understand how two great companies with great products, concepts, and series came together to produce absolute crap.
@SmaddyDiva what are you talking about? of course they credited mitsuda for the soundtrack! His name was in the end credits of the game... And uematsu did about 9 of the tracks, which is a fair contribution.

The ticking clock sound starting at 2:38 is perfect. Better than the Resurrection remix even.

I really like this. It does justice to the original.
