Er-hu is not a traditional Chinese instrument. The word "hu" means "barbarian"; in this sense er-hu is supposed to come from a border tribe, presumblaly the muslim north or northwest. But the Chinese musicians over the centuries have perfected it. The girl who plays er hu here is not only delicate but her bodily and non-verbal rhythm matches the her music to an extremee degree of harmony. She is one of a kind and the girl who plays flute is also extremely unique. This is a very nice group!

The erhu has no fingerboard so you cannot easily see the fingers stopping the notes. She is playing and her style shows she knows how to play well. I wish she was smiling.....playing music is fun!!!
