  • blah blah blah

  • the most sucking dichromate volcano i have ever seen...

  • nice slow burn on this stuff... has anyone tried including this in a kn03/sugar rocket? I imagine the long slow burn and the extra carbon would help dramatically?

  • This is a cool experiment...good job..;)

@NOTABOOS You will be surprised, but matches are not made of phosphorus.....match head is first droped in parafine (alkaline, whit a great number of C atomes,C25H52),then in a mixture of KClO3 and Sb2S3,and then for sure lighting in (NH4)3PO4 and Na2SO4.....and small amout of phosphorus you can find on the match box, where you light the match....and phosphorus is mixed with glass powder (i think that it is Na2O.CaO.6SiO2....i read this formula somewhere..)

  • What a dork using a blowtorch! All you have to do is stick a match in the pile while the phosphorous is still burning.

  • @NOTABOOS Haha well thanks for the comment, I guess. I actually didnt have a lighter or match at the time so thats all I could do. Be thankful I even posted a vid.

  • is that what they make those firework snakes out of?

  • @silvereagile2061 No it isnt. Im not entirely sure but whatever it is produces carbon ash when you light the snakes where this produced chromium oxide when its lit

  • I thionk it would have worked better if you had heated up a small coil of wire to ignite it at the top of the pile. interesting stuff though.

  • @Eviscera09 Well a lighter works best in my opinion but all I had at the moment was a blow torch

  • @jrbpyro101 oh no, I'm not critisizing you at all. merely offering a suggestion.

  • @Eviscera09 Oh dont worry I never took it as you criticizing me.

  • Good videos but I wanted to say I believe despite the wealth of knowledge of many chemistry professors they forget the danger of exposing the human body to some of these chemicals just to do demonstrations. Dichromates are very Carcinogenic and is it really worth doing this just to make a point. I have been interested in pyrotechnics for a while but I have come to realize some things are not worth exposing yourself to despite how interesting or exciting the effects of the reactions might be.

  • i TOTALLY need some chronium(III)oxide (the "ash" of this reaction), but my teacher wont give it to me (or anything that forms it in a reaction) because it´s said to be carcinogenic and poisonous and everything imaginable =(

  • Well if you actually need it send me a message and i can get you some

  • Where did you get your ammonium dichromate?

  • Colorado Scientific

  • you shoul of used a match its easyer to light

  • Ya it was windy that day so i used a blow tourch which usually isnt the best idea.

  • I would be carful with dichromates because they are know carcinogens
