If citizens see this aircraft as a symbol of the nation's proud history, of their union and will to prevail tru rough times (such as the Spitfires and the Lancaster that still fly) i think it is an affordable investment. Believe me, governments will pay good for these symbols.

Why rebuild a Vulcan, simple.

A Vulcan bomber has the same place in History as that hunk of wood called The Marie rose, as Nelsons Victory, as The War rooms. They are who we are and where we came from. This plane helped you sleep sound at night and saved many lives being lost. Did it drop the bomb, nope but it helped stop someone else doing just that.

This is probably one of the finest planes ever created.

And they are 100% right on the vulcan inspiring younger people. I'm 19 and have been into planes since i was about 3 (being the nephew of a Lancaster tail gunner)

But was only introduced to the vulcan about a year ago. since then it has become a slight obsession of mine, and looking forward to seeing one fly in person for the first time at farnborough next week :D

the vulcan was one of the best heavy bombers ever. Very unfortunate that it did not drop a hydrogen bomb on the faulklands. Mabe it will deliver a hydrogen bomb against iran

Brian, i totally agree with you. i'm just a bit too young to remember the vulcan flying when it was in service, but you can bet your life i'm off to waddington to see her. she's beautiful
