  • @bubbaboyz101, scroll through the comments and you will find the names of the songs. Search for "Kingmaker," "Barbarians at the Gate," "My Name Is Lincoln".

  • NBC always does a great job with these videos prior to the Games.

  • What are the names of the two songs used in this vid? (I especially like the second one.)

  • Mother fucker. There is nothing in all of sport film or advertisement that will ever approach the stunning magnificence and perfect combination of music, visual film and commentary that is shown in this short piece.

My heart hurts, as if stabbed.

This is a thing that you do not see in film-making any more: This piece wears its raw emotions on its sleeves and makes no place for cynicism or jest.

  • "Barbarians at the Gate" by Immediate Music is the track at 3:02

    watch?v=rc1YoWhxG9U

  • Amazing...

  • No introduction for any event is ever going to be better than this.

  • heres the link to opening 2010

  • good video per le olipiadi di torino!!!

  • Dammit!!!! Does anyone have the one for 2010 Vancouver??

  • This one and the 2000 Olympics' (Australia) opening are the best I've seen IMO.

  • An absolute EPIC WIN!! I love this video and wished like crazy there were more like this. I have been a fan of the Olympics since Munich in '72 and wished there were one place to see all the NBC stuff..they are pretty stingy about this kind of thing..Thanks so much for posting this one. I really enjoy the music and the way everything is edited together. The first minute and a half is the best, I think.

  • here's the vancouver closing credits:

    /watch?v=b2cx5Xoh6d4

  • I live in Torino! and i can say that since the Olympic Winter Games in 2006 this city has got a different and beautiful spirit that unified all of us.

  • I love this video. I remember it from the first time I saw it back in 2008. I have all of the songs on my iPod. It's so powerful. I love Italy and every nation around the world and I think this video puts things in perspective. There are so many great stories out there. The narrator delivers the words with such poetry. I just love it.

    Go USA!

  • @Schmie14 What are the songs? Thank you in advance!

  • yay, sasha was the first athlete shown!

  • Thanks for uploading this!

  • Do you have the Bode Miller interview that followed this intro?

  • @wellstated07 I'm sorry, but I had originally taped the entire broadcast of the opening ceremonies only to delete it later.

  • Who is the narrator in this?

  • This is, by far, the best of these that I have ever seen.

  • The NBC videos are not available for viewing from outside the USA so it would be great if someone could post the Vancouver 2010 Opening...

  • I wish someone would get the Vancouver intro up. Stunning. Absolutely stunning.

  • @Meatballhead07

It's on NBC's web site.... under Discover Vancouver

  • Excellent! Thanks!!

  • The video on the NBC site is not viewable from outside of the USA....would someone be able to post it on here? I'm from Vancouver and I can't see it.

  • @Auggiemike Can you be more specific? I can't seem to find the Vancouver Intro by NBC on their website. Please send link. Thanks!

  • wow NBC's certainly got these intros down. incredible stuff!

  • Music used in order:

  • got it! song title at 3:03 is 'Barbarians at the Gate' by Immediate Music

  • Has anyone figured out the song title at 3:03?

  • Comment removed

  • At 4:55 is "My name is Lincoln" its from the soundtrack to the movies 'The Island' and 'Seven Pounds'

  • "like the one who left home, alone to seek his destiny in an oz called st. petersburg."

being one who studies russian history and knows about the legacy of st. petersburg, i can't help but get chills up my spine when the narrator says that.

  • Michelle!!!!!!!!!

  • The song at 1:00 your talking about is called Kingmaker by Immediate Music

  • torinoooooooooooooooo ti amoooooooooooooooo

  • Ok. I'm loosing my mind. Does any one know the title of the song that begins at 1:00? Ive been googling/yahooing/ripping my hair out trying to find it but:( No luck what so ever. If anyone can help you would put my mind at peace for a long long time. Thanks for much for this post. I remember seeing it when the games opened, and I've never forgotten them, so I'm ecstatic about finding this.

  • FUCK YEAH

so awesome that NBC showed the best soccer team in the world kicking some major ass at 5:28

    forza Juve

  • cbc always has better openings

  • So true. CBC's opening theme is awe-inspiring. You don't have to agree...just take a listen.

  • surely you are kidding

  • no im not kidding besides beijing and athens they are always better

  • Turin is not an english name... It's the name of torino in the local dialect. The English call torino with his name in Piemontese language... Turin, infact...

  • "Tonight, the world comes to hear stories, old and new. Stories of Torino." Ahh...brings back some great memories. This was an awesome intro. Thanks for uploading!

  • ... And people say NBC's coverage of the Ceremonies suck.

So looking forward to Beijing's intro on Friday.

  • This is brilliant; the best short video I have ever seen; writing, narration and film. Just listen to the words and the matching images; unreal. I stand in awe and admiration. "Tiny Tarnaby"

"live Free or Die" " "the object o another nation's' frustration"

    UNREAL!!!!!!!!!

  • I never understood why so many English language broadcasts like this one referred to Torino. The city has an English name, Turin. All other Italian cities in this video are referred to by their English names. It doesn't make it look like they can speak Italian, it makes them look like they never heard of this city before, and don't know it has an English name.

  • Because "Torino" is the more commonly known name for the city. It was even discussed in the media here why Turin wasn't used and it was for the simple fact that Torino is more commonly known and how it was most commonly referred to in marketing and the logo.

  • Torino is more known BECAUSE of the Olympic logo. I read that in the media, too. So people really hadn't heard of Turin before the Olympics. Strange, it's a fair sized European city. But I've met people who haven't heard of Moscow so I guess it's not that strange.

  • This is music from an outfit called Immediate Music - The Abbey Road album, 2nd CD. It is used for soundtracks and movie trailers. Good luck getting it as it is only available legally for commercial applicaitons.

  • Thanks for your post. I have been searching for that song ever since it was broadcast in 2006.

  • Thank you very much. I find the music to be very uplifting and inspiring.

The first song used is "Onward to Glory" and begins at around 1:04 in the song. "Kingmaker" is the second song.

  • I'd like to know what's the music used in the first part of this clip.

    Anyway, I love this vid.

  • Torino / Turin is simply wonderful !!!

  • Shaun White, Apolo Anton Ohno, Lindsey Jacobellis, Shani Davis,Chad Hedrick and the u.s.a hockey team. team u.s.a. 2010 in get the gold back. go u.s.a

  • Actually does any one know the names of all the songs in this video? I think they're all great.

  • Does anyone know what the name of the music that is playing at 2:20 ?????

  • Very nice! Who has the US broadcast of the Torino opening?

  • The NBC

  • Salt Lake and Torino were amazing...

  • Thanks for postin! Good job!

  • Does anyone know what the name of the music that starts at 3:03 ?????

  • "My name is Lincoln" by steve Jablonski. its from "The Island" official soundtrack
